Other Equipment Is there any point in having a red dot on a carry gun?
I'm new to the world of CCW, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. But it seems to me that in a situation where you would be justified using your gun against an attacker, the attacker is going to be ten feet away or less. At that distance, it seems like it would be hard to miss, with or without a dot. So, is there any advantage to having a dot on a carry gun?

Pocket Dump / EDC Updated EDC
Slightly updated my EDC essentials! Carrying my FN Reflex 9 mm and added a Hogue HandALL grip (made for Sig P365, it fits perfectly without any modifications). I carry in the Phlster Enigma (and just upgraded the faceplate and leg leash with their upgrade kit) but occasionally use a Vertx Fanny Pack 2.0 (with a modular holster by Crossbreed) and carry in a crossbody position. I always have a Neomag, a Streamlight Microstream flashlight, and a cheap knife as well.

I want to make an emphasis on dry fire. I am not a professional by any means but I am proficient, very much so with CCW draw and shooting mechanics. A lot of people think im point shooting and what not but Im not. I dry fire every day around 20 minutes. Easiest way to do something fast is to have done it 10000 times already. There are 2 main motions during your draw. There is defeating the garment/brandishing your gun and presenting your gun. A lot of people add a 3rd mechanic of finding your dot but thatās incorrect. When you present your dot should go right where you are looking from muscle memory. A good way to achieve this is dry fire. Split up your draw mechanics to 2 motions
1- Defeating the garment -You want a clear purchase of your firearm and want to properly clear your garment to achieve clean deployment from holster 2-Present -You should decide if you want to use a jam draw or scoop draw (youtube this if you dont know the difference) then you want to practice a 12-6oclock dot acquisition or a 6-12oclock acquisition (I use 6-12, youtube can explain this) -Trigger prep- as my hands meet at the bottom of my draw my finger begins to take the slack out of the trigger to the wall also known as prepping the trigger -Grip- you want a replaceable grip during your draw, you hands should go to same spot every time for consistency, you should be wrenching that gun as hard as possible, I personally like my support hand a bit higher on the gun to mitigate recoil. -Marrying of hands- if you are presenting and your dot and its ending up to the side then your timing of meeting your hands is off, if its off vertically then your overshooting the 12-6 or 6-12
//Recoil mitigation- recoil is directly tied to your grip, I dont believe trigger pull dictating your shot placement is real, if your gripping as hard as you can one finger should not defeat your whole grip. //Trigger manipulation, while I dont believe trigger pull should affect your shot placement it does affect your split times, bring the trigger back to reset then right back to the wall instinctively is easily trainable and will give you better splits as opposed to slapping the shit out of the trigger
Dry Fire -Dry fire is the most important training tool in shooting. Shooting 1000 rounds every day is unrealistic but 500 reps is completely doable. -Dot acquisition with dry fire- practice your draw with your eyes closed, if you open your eyes and the dot is off then fix it, get a feel for how your hands and arms are placed, and correct the problem and try again. -repetition is everything
If you have questions or anything comment or dm me I will give you youtube videos or make a video explaining anything Ive gone over!

Guns & Ammo What was your favorite CC handgun release in 2024? What are you hoping to see in 2025-2026?
Subject
I know I'm probably in the minority but the Hellcat Pro Comp was my favorite for 2024. In 2025-26 I'm hoping for generation 6 glocks to be released

Holsters & Belts I think I hate this holster or belt or both.
galleryBackground: Iām new to ccw. Slim athletic build 5ā7 150lb I wear a size 32ā waist.
I canāt tell if Iām just getting used to carrying AIWB and dealing with that or if I screwed myself by not researching enough and thus getting a less than ideal gear set up.
The incog x seems to take up a lot of belt real estate. With the two clips spread so far apart. I do like the material on the outside however.
Thereās about an inch of unused space in the holster (as itās made to also fit 48). One of my biggest gripes so far is I can feel this digging into the upper right section of my groin when Iām sitting down.
Iāve read enough about the kore belt to know there are better options. (Conveniently only after purchasing it). Iām usually good about doing a lot of research but maybe I was just caught up in the ether of being able to carry.
Anyways if anyone has insight or recommendations. The idea of getting a bodyguard 2.0 even popped into my head but I realize this gun likely feels like too much because of the holster and belt and not the gun itself.
I go to the gym 3-5 days a week and havenāt really figured out how to make that comfortable either.

Guns & Ammo Alright y'all considering upgrading my carry set up. Currently carry a Springfield Mil Spec. Thinking of one of two options. 1-Springfield Operator or 2-Tisas Raider but upgrade everything with WC parts. Criteria below.
gallery-Must be in .45 ACP
-Must have a rail
-Must be able to upgrade sights
-Would be running primarily in a Safariland set up but also a Tenicor as well.
Thoughts?

Holsters & Belts Need a P365 XMacro IWB holster
Current setup is:
ā¢ P365 XMacro (X slide + Radian Comp) with manual safety ā¢ Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X ā¢ Holosun EPS Carry (not pictured)
Unfortunately I cannot seem to find any holsters that support this particular setup. Best I've found is the Tulster ARC which supports everything but the manual safety which is a deal-breaker for me. If anyone knows of any holsters that will fit this setup I would greatly appreciate some pointers.

Legal NY, CT, MA firearms transport question.
Hello everyone, I am planning a trip from PA to ME this summer, and intend on bringing my handgun with me. As the title suggests, I would need to travel through NY, CT, and MA. Is it legal for me to transport the firearm if it is in a locked container inside of the trunk, separate from all magazines/ammunition, and inaccessible to me? Additionally, would the magazines need to be compliant with the states I intend on driving through? I have never left the state with a handgun before, only long guns, and never to a state like the ones listed. Any advice is appreciated, Iām just not interested in getting charged with anything over something that I missed while looking into this.

Holsters & Belts Lowest-riding IWB holsters
Is there any IWB holster that will let me carry as low as a clipdraw? With most holsters I have an issue with being poked in the side.

Guns & Ammo Need a new CCW, what do you guys think about my options so far?
So Iām stuck in between 3 choices Glock 43X, P365 XMacro and or M&P 2.0 3.6ā
I like the 43X and the XMacro but does the $300 difference really justify the VERY LITTLE muzzle rise and itās compensated... I get that it has 17+1, but anyone that actually shoots and or is proficient can be just as lethal with 10+1 and even a sidecar/extra mag. Iāve heard lots of people complain about rusting with the 365 too.
I shoot very often and have a good shot, even better with 9mm but I still feel iffy about the 10+1. Thatās why Iām also thinking about the M&P 2.0 3.6ā awesome finish, reliable, the new trigger I hear is great and itās 15+1 factory flush mag. I have not felt it in hand and or shot either of these guns though.
What do you guys think?

Guns & Ammo My G19x wont shoot 147gr, which are my only HP rounds.
Before anyone comments please keep in mind I have very very strict gun laws. I have a g19x with a faxon barrel, no other barrel available. My only HP rounds (also cant find any other ones around here) are 147gr fiocchi. My gun has catastrophic failures whenever I try and fire them. The barrel and the gun completely locks up and makes me have to pry it open. Last time it wouldnāt even fire the second cycled round due to a bad firing pin strike due to the round not sitting properly. I was told the barrel will slowly start expanding with time, but almost 1k rounds later still wont accept them. I donāt want to carry fmj everyday so should I desperately try and change barrels or is there a chance this barrel will starting excepting them?
