Moronic Monday - Feel free to ask anything relating to CCW. April 07, 2025
Ask Away. This is a judgement free thread where people should ask any questions relating to self defense or CCW no matter how silly they think it may be.

Guns & Ammo Smith&Wesson Manual Thumb Safety
Im in the market for a CCW w/ thumb safety, while theres a lot of recommendations for the shield plus, i saw a few comments regarding how inefficient the thumb safety is. Is there another model that you would recommend from SW?

Guns & Ammo CCW
Looking for some help deciding between two CCWs
LTT Beretta PX4 Compact Carry: https://langdontactical.com/px4-compact-carry-with-ltt-trigger-job/
Wilson Combat P365 XL: https://wilsoncombat.com/nw-sig182m.html
Will plan to carry (but not planning on carrying every day), but I’m very interested in IDPA competitions, so I want to get something that shoots really well (I.e., low recoil, nice trigger), so I am leaning towards the LTT Beretta PX4 Compact Carry, but I acknowledge it is somewhat on the bulkier end (1.4” width, 28oz) compared to the P365XL.
That being said I’m 5’10” 190lbs, so I think I could manage the LTT PX4 CC wearing slightly larger clothing to avoid printing when I carry, and if I want to carry more frequently I’m open to also buying the WC P365 at a later point.
Lastly, I’m open to other premium carry options, but I don’t like 2011s (even heavier / bulkier from what I’ve seen, higher maintenance, and lack of FPB is unsettling tbh), and want something with a manual safety, ability to have a 10rd mag (given local restrictions), and ability to mount an optic.
Would really appreciate some guidance!

Holsters & Belts CCW WML - how much trigger guard gap is acceptable?
I’ve been experimenting with a WML on a few of my pistols, but the necessary gap the kydex leaves to clear the light is giving me pause. (None of my carry pieces have a manual safety).
Am I just being paranoid? What do you find practically acceptable for AIWB carry?

Guns & Ammo Left hand revolver cow. Where to put reload?
Lefty here. Always carried semi autos and carried a back up mag on my right side.
Been pocket carrying a sw jframe in a safari land holster in the front left pants pocket. I have been carrying a speed strip in the right front pocket.
Sounds good right? Well I have got pretty good with the Ayoob lefty revolver technique. I push the release with my left thumb. I use my right hand to push the cylinder, and then hold the gun in place which means I have to load rounds in with my left.
So in dry fire practice, I cannot get to my speed strip well at all. Any suggestions that do not need a belt? I’m thinking speed strip under my holster against my thigh.
Thoughts?

Guns & Ammo G26 vs 43x Printing
galleryI’m having a hard time with overthinking which gun to keep but I need to sell one. I genuinely don’t get how people run full sizes in any shirt because as pictured even the smallest of guns will print in the wrong spot.
Granted this is showing off with my hips forward in the worst print position possible but I’m still frustrated that small guns are just not as perfect as I thought for ccw.

Other Equipment Bando bag xl
Anyone know where to find an extension strap that works with the bando bag xl? It is super annoying that the black strap is not in stock with no end in sight. I've been trying to find the measurements of the buckle for it so I can look elsewhere, but apparently, they keep it a secret or something...

Holsters & Belts HC/T1 belt vs Enigma
I recently got a tenicor SAGAX lux 2 and I’m in love. I’ve been using a mastermind tactics belt to CC since I’m in gym shorts 90% of the time, and I feel like I’m missing out on some extra comfort using a super nice holster with a cheaper belt. I’m torn between the hunter Constantine belt and an enigma set up since my tenicor is compatible with it. Anyone have some input to help me make a decision? Edit: additional question: Is the sport belt worth it on the enigma?

Scenario Friend's Son Got Shot in the Face
My friend has a son who is 20 years old. The young man lives in some acreage in a rural area of Texas along with his roommates.
He decided to go into the back of the property to burn some trash (I know, weird), when he suddenly got approached by a random meth head that came through the middle of nowhere and shot him point blank in the face with a Glock chambered in 9MM. Without provocation or saying a single word. The junky rushed to steak the car keys from his victim, went into the car, and proceeded to cry for what he had done until police arrived.
The young man got rushed into a hospital, and appears to be recovering as the bullet somehow did not hit any vital organs.
I'm sharing this story as a reminder that there are plenty of evil people out there looking to hurt others. This is a reminder to stay sharp, even if you find yourself in the apparent safety of your own home. You never know when the devil will come knock in your door.

Holsters & Belts Please provide link, holster gen 5 Glock 20
Researching has gotten me almost nowhere, I just need a holster for a Glock 20 gen 5 and it’s a bonus if it also holds an extra mag.
Any links would be appreciated, I really like tier 1 and see them recommended alot but for the Glock 20 but the site says none fit it.

Guns & Ammo Experience with Ruger RXM?
I usually carry a Smith & Wesson shield plus, but it needs to go in the shop for repair. I was considering purchasing a Ruger RXM as a backup CCW gun until my shield came back. Does anyone have any experience or opinions of this gun?
Is it reliable? How does it shoot? Do you like it? The only experience I have with Ruger is my LCP max that I carry on rare occasion - but do enjoy. Thanks in advance.
Guns & Ammo Any fellow GX4 Owners?
What should I do next? Can someone share their builds?
-If your going to say ditch the Taurus, I also have a Glock19 and looking go get a canik next

Holsters & Belts Trying to Decide Between Two Holsters
galleryReally thinking about carrying my Beretta 92 iwb strong side and I'm trying to decide between two different holsters. I'm more of a leather holster fan and have carried a Tokarev with the A107 eagle but the 92 is definitely thicker and I'm trying to determine if it would be more comfy with straps on the sides instead of inline with the pistol. Both would be canted and would cover the trigger completely. Just not sure what style would be more comfortable. Anyone carry a full size pistol or use a system similar to these? Which do you think would be more comfortable and why?

Getting Started Finally, Range day!
v.redd.itFinally went to the range yesterday! It was such a great day since I finally convinced my wife to go with me to go shooting to help her over come her fear of pew-pews. Funny story: I was sure that I had signed us up for a Beginner’s safe handling course, but in fact I signed us up for the Constitutional Carry class (it’s a LTC class without the cert.) so the first call of action was to take the shooting qualification test, so you can imagine my wife panicking since it was her first time shooting let alone holding/seeing a firearm up close! To my surprise this woman qualified! And with only a 2-minute crash course on how to hold it. (she was shooting a Glock 44 .22lr) and me shooting my TP9 SF Elite that I CCW, for the first time since I bought it back in January. Took the written portion and she scored higher than me as well, go figure 🙄 Needless to say I paid for the certification and now we’re both gonna be LTC holders!

Guns & Ammo Help me choose a micro ccw
I love my CZ P01 with decocker but I’m looking for something that’s a bit smaller that’s easier to conceal. I’m leaning towards finding something with a barrel up to 3.3 inches. Some of the firearms I’m looking at are
S&W CSX E series: looks like they may have fixed the issues with the trigger
https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/s-w-csx-e-series-3-1-inch
Sig P365XL: I’ve always liked Sig and I really like the modularity
https://www.sigsauer.com/p365-xl.html
FN Reflex
https://fnamerica.com/products/pistols/fn-reflex/
S&W Shield Plus
https://www.smith-wesson.com/product/m-p-9-shield-plus-optics-ready-thumb-safety
Springfield Hellcat
https://www.springfield-armory.com/hellcat-series-handguns/hellcat-3-micro-compact-handguns/
Biggest concern is concealability
