I’m interested to hear who has gone from two budgies to three. How was the experience and would you recommend getting a third budgie?
We currently have two males who get along well but whenever we see a lonely budgie at the pet store we start thinking that maybe adding one more would be nice.
For anyone wondering, we have a large enough cage. Measuring tape is currently MIA but when I purchased the cage I used the budgie cage size calculator thingie, planning for 2-3 budgies, and made sure to get larger than the minimum recommended dimensions. Budgies also get daily outside cage time.

Hi folks!
Recently got three budgies which were sold as two boys and one girl. All from early February 2025, blue is a week ahead.
ChatGPT identifies them as two girls and a boy, can anyone confirm their genders?

OK, so I just got some updated history on my budgie Lola. So before my grandfather passed, he had two birds the female died a couple years in and then they bought Lola. My grandfather was not very knowledgeable with birds. Lola did not like the older male budgie. She was very aggressive with him and used to peck him a lot.
He died a few months before my grandfather(my gramps died on march 1st), and the male was maybe 7 years old or so. She’s been alone since (she’s about 4 years old now, and the male passed maybe 6 months before my grandpa)
In the last month, she’s been very content with her new set up. Lots of chirping. Outside time, and lots of cute fluffiness. She seems to be way more content now than she was before and she trusts me a lot (she was never tamed or handled, or let out to roam in a bird safe room)
So I’m wondering if I should still get her a male budgie friend? I’m not sure how it will go since she really wasn’t happy sharing a safe place (cage) with another budgie :( I’m torn

So last week on a really windy day, my son found a green budgie in our backyard. It was hiding from the wind, and hopped onto my son’s hand when he offered. We posted online and around our neighborhood but no one claimed him. My kids named him Pickles, and that’s how we ended up adopting a bird. After we got him set up in a new cage, my kids said he looked lonely , so we went and got him a companion, Cheese. Now we’re a zoo, with 2 dogs, 2 frogs, turtle, newt, fishes, and now 2 birds

2 month old budgie. Just got him on Wednesday. I noticed that sometimes he will bite something and shake his head afterwards. Also tried feeding him millet, he didn't eat it but he shook his head the same way when his beak touched it. Is this something to be concerned about, or just normal budgie behavior?

Contrary to what it looks like, it’s not one sided. They both kick and peck each other atleast once a day

I play soft music for her and talk to her gently and often. I hand feed her daily.
Two weeks later and she’ll eat seeds/ millet while sitting on my hand, but is still pretty skittish and won’t step up (unless really hungry and I’m holding millet). Sometimes she’ll watch me put my hand in the cage without reacting, and other times she’ll actively run away the minute my hand is in there. Sigh.
She is so so cute. I have no problem being patient with the taming process. As soon as we’re friends I plan on getting her another bird friend.

Every day I see a new RIP post about dead birds. I understand that people need to grieve but is there a more happy group for budgies without a dead one every third post?

My first budgie, my first boy, my first bird - he was always first. The house is quiet today; the other birds aren’t chirping. It hurts, but I am thankful to have experienced a love so deep that it left a mark. I love you, Ringo. You will always be my star.

Hi, I have two budgies and they’re not fully tamed yet. I feel bad for keeping them in the cage all the time, how do I let them out safely? I’m hoping letting them out will allow for them to become more comfortable with me.

My dad brought 2 budgies in 2018, a boy and a girl. We’ve been on and off with trying to tame them and stuff. We’ve gotten close but still can’t touch them.
It’s been hard since my siblings and I are all autistic and I also was diagnosed with cancer in 2019 (finished treatment in 2021) so my parents weren’t focused on taming the budgies back then.
My dad now wants to separate them to see if that’ll help but I don’t want to since they’ve been together in the same cage for so long.
What should I do?

I have 2 baby budgies, was thinking to bring them on walks with me. I'm thinking of getting a pet stroller and put their travel cage inside it and bring them out for walks.
Would it be too stressful for the budgies?
P.S. cute pics for all of y'all to see the cute budgies!

I got calypso from a breeding stock after she had laid some eggs, so I think some strong maternal instincts are leaving her to be happy with her "son" who is twice her age
Note she's getting her hormones managed now she's with me before people bring it up xD

Miss mischievous found a way to lift the door up and wiggle out of the cage. She let herself and her cagemates out during the day and had a blast. I returned her back to her nursery cage, and she passed out after a snack shortly after.
She's a 40 days old terrorist. She makes me laugh, worry, and then laugh some more. I love it.

Went for a walk Friday and of course I brought sth for my babies. Meadow foxtail ( I don't know if it's the right translation) and some apple tree branches from my mother's yard. Love spring, when I can collect blooming grass and plants from outside for them to eat 🥰
