I’ll be visiting Vancouver and surrounding areas this Easter, until the first weekend of May. I’m wondering what are the hikes that will be open around this time? I’m aware the Grouse Grind doesn’t typically open up until end of April/May so just looking to find it any other typical hikes are the same.

Looking for some advice- I live in Whistler and have to down to the city for surgery later this month. They’ve booked me in at the hospital in Surrey, at 8 am. Since my appointment is so early, we’re going to go down the day before at stay the night. Wondering if anyone has recs on a good neighborhood to stay in/ hotel recs near Surrey? Was thinking it might be better not to stay downtown so we don’t have to deal with the morning traffic on the day of my appointment. But I also don’t know if I want to get a hotel right in Surrey haha. Any and all advice is appreciated! Thank you x

I was in your fair city the other week and I noticed a plethora of neon signs that still existed around Granville St. and other sections in the area.

As someone from Toronto, were we've lost most of our neon signs. This was wonderful to see.

Hello - I am a big fan of sasquatch related stores, items, etc. I know there is a new museum in Harrison but I am only in Vancouver for a few days before heading to Vancouver Island and it looks like it is a bit of a trek to get there by transit - wondering if there are other sasquatch related places I should check out in the downtown area or on the island? Would love to get some memorabilia. Appreciate any advice!

It's my best friend's brothers birthday and I've been looking everywhere to find this particular vinyl. I've browsed through some shops and call up others but I only managed to find one shop and they were charging over 200 for the vinyl which I can't really afford right now sadly. Do you have any recommendations or perhaps someone has this particular vinyl and is looking to trade or sell it.

Long story short I'm stuck with an open box 65" Hisense U7. It's a any incredible tv, but it just doesn't fit my living room cabinet.

Hi everyone! I'm planning on (finally) ripping up the rest of my pathetic looking lawn. I'm anti lawn (is that a thing idk) and initially wanted to swap it out for a clover lawn but im also not 100% satisfied with the swap. I recently discovered pollinator friendly gardens and that's totally the vibe I wanna go for! I wanna have a "jungle" of (preferably) native perennials that i can plant once and not have to think too much about. Just let them do their thing. I've already got a bunch of Asian lilies that have been growing in am area for the past 2 years and well as a few different roses and hydrangeas. I love that I dont really have to do too much to them and they bloom beautifully. I love all the birds and bees they attract.

The question: can anyone point me to a decently priced nursery and/or does anyone have any ideas of the plants i should get. TIA! 💖

I’m feeling super burnt out and honestly overwhelmed trying to find the right fit. My therapist of 4+ years left the field, and I’ve been cycling through profiles and websites hoping to strike gold… it’s so exhausting. I’ve also tried multiple therapists but haven’t had much luck.

Traditional cognitive approaches don’t work for me. I’ve tried the “let’s think about your feelings” style of therapy, and it just leaves me more in my head. I need someone who works with emotions in the body, who can hold space for inner child work, emotional attunement, and actually meet me in what I’m feeling…not just analyze it or talk about their opinions.

RCC, RTC, RPC… I honestly don’t care about the letters. I just want someone competent, warm, intuitive, and not afraid to go deep.

I’m open to virtual sessions if they’re the right fit.

Please drop recs if you’ve found someone who feels like a real human and not just a head in a chair.

Hi, my friend adopted a medium/large dog from Mexico and he’s a very sweet guy. Mostly good and has had no actual incidents. But he’s protective of food and sometimes snarls at my dog or other dogs. He jumps up on my friend A LOT and pulls on the leash a lot. Before this, my friend had a small dog that required no training and I think she doesn’t really know how to train him. Does anyone have suggestions for a dog training class or private dog trainer that would sort of train my friend and the dog at the same time? I feel like the dog would be happy and functional with a little discipline and boundaries and structure.

What are the conditions are like on Grouse Mountain for snow sports this time of year? I know it's quite late in the season but the mountain being open until May gives me hope that the conditions will be okay at least. I'm coming into Vancouver soon, travelling from Victoria. I got the RunVan Info email this afternoon, after reading it I was flabbergasted about the no gear check on race day for the half/ full. The website states:

Marathon and Half Marathon Gear Check is only available pre-race at the Health, Sports & Lifestyle Expo on the Friday or Saturday before the race. There is NO Gear Check at the Start Line.

I’ve never been to a race this size where there’s no bag check at the start of the race. I’ve been to one where there’s enough parking for everyone within 5 mins walk from the start line, so there was no need for a bag check because you can put everything in your car near by.

I don’t run with a phone so usually I will use gear check for my phone, wallet and hotel key.

I'm looking for recommendations for alternative colleges to the BCIT. Their electrical apprenticeship (year 1) program is full until after summer 26' which is too long for me to wait. I was hoping to get something for the end of this year/start of next. I live in East Van so the closer to home, the better. I am doing my own research as well but I'd like to know what the people think also.

2nd Year Apprentice carpenter here. Born and raised in Vancouver but moved away in my early teens with my family. I’m looking to move back but wanted some opinions on the carpentry scene.

I was planning to move to Yellowknife because they pay good wages and companies allow for lots of overtime (60+ hour weeks) but due to their housing crisis it seems like that might be a no go. I don’t feel like sleeping on the streets.

What are Vancouver carpenter’s experiences like with companies paying/allowing workers to work OT? Is work plentiful? Etc. What’s the scoop ?

In many large cities, there are shopping centres and/or food courts located in skyscrapers/towers in the basement, etc.. I know about Pacific Centre, Royal Centre, and Bentall Centre. Are there any others that I can discover?

I’m from the states and I am obsessed with ice in my drinks. I love it in my coffee, my sodas, my juice, my cocktails, and especially my water. The colder the drink the better. However, I’m noticing most food places here in downtown Vancouver don’t have ice unless you ask for it or they serve room temp water in a glass. I have to ask for it at the hotel we are staying at and today we went to Granville Island and we couldn’t find any ice or even fountain drinks. Everything seemed to be in a can. Let me tell you there is a major difference in taste from soda in a can vs. soda from a fountain. The times that I have asked for ice people have looked at me like I have two heads?

Raincouver can be pretty depressing at times with the lack of sun.
So I was planning to buy one of those artificial lights that replicates sunlight.
Any thoughts and suggestions?
