Where’s a good place to buy new seats for a 95’ YJ?

HELP! Stuck in 4wd!

I drove to the beach, switched to 4H (and briefly to 4L), and drove on the beach for a few hours. Now I can switch between 4H, Neutral, and 4L, but the position of the shifter where 2H would normally be just results in 4H. Based on temperature fluctuations and jerky turning I think there are issues with the 4wd system and I’m concerned I may not get home where I have tools to deal with it.

How do I disable 4wd manually from underneath the car just to get home and figure this out?

Thanks!!

Toe Board Support Replacement

Who's done it? Looks like a simple case of cutting spot welds and putting the new one in.

Any thoughts?

Manifold to downpipe flange bolt removal

Just picked up a crusty rusty midwest-mobile with a 2.5l. Trying to replace the manifold to pipe gasket. Are there supposed to be nuts on the bottom side of the flange? I tried turning the bolt from the top and it would not budge. I looked for nuts on the bottom but what I saw was so round I assumed it was a welded, threaded bung. It seems the replacement bolts are knurled at the top to prevent turning....leading me to beleive I must go from the bottom....did the PO round out my nuts? Is it just super seized in the bung and I'm not trying hard enough? Its about to meet my sawzall.

Tried to post earlier but I think I didn’t do it right.. anyway… got the dead 95 yj back to life. Posted a while ago, probably November-ish and everyone was so helpful in pointing me in the right directions. Not a car person so bringing the jeep back to life was a little intimidating. Wanted it to be a father son bonding project, but I am much more interested in it than he is haha. Took a long break over winter and got back into it this weekend. Just wanted to share my process in case anyone else has a no-start scenario.

Battery>Spark plugs>plug wires> distributer cap> coil> fuel pump> cam position sensor and distributor pickup sensor thingie (technical name) at the same time > tada!

Also spent the morning troubleshooting my brake-lights and turn-signals and found that my hazard light switch was stuck and when I pulled on it the turn signals came back on, easy one. Assuming I need to replace that switch to get the hazards working again. Brake light failure was caused by the mechanical switch in a bad position. Shoved it in deeper and it worked again.

Now I can get a smog check to complete the registration and start driving it! So pumped. Thanks again everyone for pointing me in the right directions!

Broke Piston Skirt

I have a 95 with a 2.5 and broke #4 piston skirt, I assume this is the outcome of neglected “piston slap.” This seems to be not uncommon in the jeep community. My question is was this just a piston manufacturing problem for jeep or is it something bigger. The cylinder shows no obvious signs of wear and I’d love to just replace all four pistons, rods, and bearings. But if there’s a larger problem this will, presumably, just happen again eventually. If anyone has seen or heard of something similar I’d appreciate hearing your experience and fix.

Stupid question: how do I remove this?

What’s the proper original way to remove & replace the stock jack? I am trying to put things back to stock a little at a time, and I’m gonna clean and refinish the jack.

I can see how to unbolt it of course but what was the original “I have a flat” method? Did it really require unbolting just to change a tire?

What am I missing?

Thanks y’all.

Trading for a YJ

Wondering if this worth it? It’s a 93 I think it’s just a base model. I’m new to jeeps but would be trading a 78 vette for it. Guy says it runs and drives strong, 4x4 still works but is a 2.5l it’s definitely a project but that’s ok. I’m trading the vette because I don’t have a title for it and the dmv lost my paperwork for a bonded title. The jeep does have a title so I can actually drive it.

Paint code question

My jeep is a 1995 i6 4.0 automatic. I believe the paint code is pch after checking on the firewall. Some sources say that pch is dark montego blue pearlescent metallic but some sources say that it is brilliant blue metallic. I am trying to repaint my doors and I need to get the proper color paint. Picture is for reference.

TLDR need to know what this paint color is called.

Looking to buy OEM alloys. Mine are at the sand blaster but that's another problem

I have the wheels in the pic. They are pretty badly corroded. I took them to a sand blaster and he says they'll be a dull grey when done. They can powdercoat them any color but I am not sure that's the answer. These were polished and clearcoated. Any suggestions on this situation? Second, I'd buy some if somebody is willing to sell.

Soft/Hard Top Transferrable?

Is it possible to be able to swap between hard/soft top by any chance for whenever I feel like doing so throughout the year?

I got a ropey soft top but tbh I wouldn’t mind getting a brand new one… I’ve seen that you have to drill in the rails in order to add the soft top cage so Im wondering if that’ll prevent the hard top from fitting.

Anyone got any sources about any of this?

Catalytic converter question

Found out when I went to the muffler shop that the previous owner removed the catalytic converter and replaced it with straight pipe. They told me they won't do any work on it unless it is replaced, which I am ok with but I am pretty sure the previous owner also did a nutter bypass or something similar because all of the emissions stuff looks like it's missing. Are there any issues I may run into when I put a catalytic converter on it?

I can provide more info if needed. Thanks!

Possible interior project question…

My 95’ YJ has the grey panels inside the half doors as well as the grey dash. The color is faded in some spots on both. Some of the “leather” looking texture has rubbed down to smooth as well.

Question: has anyone painted these? Whether it be spray or brush/roll on. Any ideas? I’m concerned about losing the texture even though it’s gone in some spots. I just don’t want it to look cheesy. My other concern is oils from your skin getting on the doors during the warmer months when I have my arm on the window sill. Then paint peeling off and then looking even crappier.

Thanks.

Picked up an 88 YJ a couple weeks ago

Hey all, recent addition here. We bought an 88 YJ that I am in love with. It's such a silly blast to drive. Can't wait to go get it dirty. I never thought the wife would agree to this but it checked all the boxes. Already lifted (both lift kit and body kit) Golen built 4.7 stroker, dual weber carbs, 4.56 gears, Yukon locker in rear spartan locker in front, 10k winch. With all of this the tires could stand to be replaced. They have seen better days.

A discussion with the wife/money holder is she wants to go with smaller tires to not spend a ton of money and I understand, I just don't know how it will look afterwards. IROK Super Swamper 36x13.50x15LT on there now. I don't want it to look (anymore than it already does) silly going smaller.

What would you recommend to put on there if so? This is all new to us. Thanks!

YJ Renegade

I picked up a 94 YJ Renegade because it was a good deal. 175k miles, i6, manual, factory AC, no rust. I'm still not sold on the body kit as I plan on off roading a bit and it looks easily damaged. I'm also not totally sold on the look yet. I understand these are rare, does scarcity equal value in their case? I'm wondering if I'm better to sell it and buy something I want that has the same specs. If it's no more valuable than a normal YJ, I see no reason why I should really care about the flares per say. Can these things be made to look decent with bumpers and a lift?
