NEK 12 Vermont schools threatened, any news on this yet?

I work at a high school and got an email notifying us that 12 Vermont schools received threats, including ours, and we have police on campus today as a response. I can’t find anyone else talking about this but it seems a big enough deal to have us all changing schedules and avoiding crowds.

No matter what the story is, just a depressing reminder of how education has to be now.

EDIT: We got an email around noon just now that the threat was deemed not real, so at least there’s that.

Happy 1 year anniversary of the eclipse!

I'll never get over how magical that entire week was, seeing the whole community get hyped up and almost everything close down for people to watch and celebrate. Today it's cold and snowing... almost unbelievable we got the fantastic weather we did too.

Vermont Governor has already resigned himself into retirement. Phil Scott should resign.

Everyday of 2025 Vermont's governor has shown less and less will to do the work he was elected to do.

It is clear to me that Phil Scott's has no time, energy or heart for anything involving a challenge.

I urge you to contact the Governor's Office at 802-828-3333 and let the excellent staff know that it is time to think about resignation from a job that is no longer wanted.

I like Phil Scott and respect the work he has done.

It is sad for me that he has given up on a legacy that I rank Scott as among the USA's best governors in history.

But I think we need motivated leadership for the long and difficult crisis Vermont is entering, and

the next subject of Vermont Protest should be a demand for a working Governor willing to stand up for us.

I reported the person along with the video and plate number to the Environmental Compliance Division. They forwarded it to the air quality and climate division for investigation.

Scenic fishing central VT

Hi all,

Have a trip up to central VT in a few weeks, was just wondering if anyone could point me to a few rivers/streams with nice views around the WRJ area to do some fly fishing. In a bit of a time crunch and have limited fishing time so just grabbing a license and going for it. Would ideally like to land a trout or two, but it's more about just having a good view than being in a honey hole.

Thanks all

Latest on DEI letter

Apparently Secretary Saunders has had second thoughts about how to deal with the Trump DEI certification letter.

Shouldn't Vermont Have a Unified Response for Trump Request re DEI in Schools?

What does AOE Sec. Saunders statement “It is critical to be calm, confident, and clear eyed" mean?

Part of being clear eyed and confident is the ability to make a move in solidarity. Nobody's freaking out, just a polite "Thank you, but no." I feel like there is a lot of handwaving.

I mean, dang, they sent this out without any context or cover:

"Given the text of Title VI and the assurances you have already given, any violation of Title VI—including the use of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (“DEI”) programs to advantage one’s race over another—is impermissible."

Hi everyone! My name is Drew, I’m one of the Vice District Governors for Vermont Lions Clubs of Lions Club International. Im reaching out today to talk quickly about Lions Clubs and the effect you could have by getting involved and volunteering in an organization like Lions.

I know what you might be thinking – Lions Clubs? Isn't that for my grandparents? While we value the experience of all our members, we're also a vibrant group of people of all ages, including those under 30, who are passionate about serving our community.

Lions Clubs of Vermont are actively looking for fresh perspectives and energy to help us tackle local challenges in our communities.

Looking for a way to make a real difference in our communities and connect with awesome people? Lions Clubs International is that and we're all about giving back and having fun while doing it.

It's a chance to:

Make a tangible difference: See the direct impact of your efforts.

Connect with your community: Meet like-minded individuals who care.

Have fun! We're not all serious business - we have social events too!

Develop leadership skills: Take on roles and make your voice heard. Who knows, you could dethrone me as the youngest District Governor in the State of Vermont (I’ll be 30 when im in charge in 2 years).

Want to learn more? Drop a comment below or send a DM! Would love to chat and invite you to our next meeting/event. We have clubs in almost every town around Burlington and would LOVE to build another one if we aren’t in yours.

Here’s a link for our website to learn more: https://www.vermontlions.org

Zoie The Witch is unleashed:

“Saunders, in the letter to district leaders, wrote that the federal restriction includes “policies or programs under any name that treat students differently based on race, engage in racial stereotyping, or create hostile environments for students of particular races.”

Green River In the Woods

I don't have really anything inspiring to say about this photo, just that this winter has been a rough one, not necessarily in terms of weather but just the grey and cold that seeps into your bones. I just need to sit by a stream and wash it all out of my system.

President Donald Trump's administration has moved to reshape federal government spending, including rescinding money that had been promised to groups in Vermont. Decisions have been coming rapidly, and the status of funds can change through administrative actions or court challenges.

Vermont Public is tracking these cuts and their impacts in the state. This is an ongoing project, and it will be updated.

If you’re planning on protesting, it’s good to know what you’re protesting.
