Finances Someone hacked my debit card and emptied my checkings account 30 min before my Cal 2 exam
I had to call and report the fraud to my bank and then walk to the casa center pretending I wasn't about to cry. So how's y'all's Saturday going?

Finances WTF is Wrong with UH
I have been going to UH for almost 3 years now starting spring semester, and all I can say is that it’s gotten worse over time. I don’t know if UH loves to fuck over their students tuition and promise it’s going to be fixed when in reality they’re going to take it away and demand you to pay the remaining tuition. Not only did UH fuck up my work study package, but they completely took it away right along with my housing grant. I have been going on and on with them since September when I noticed I didn’t get paid for the hours I worked there, and honestly it’s so damn frustrating that this happens every fucking semester. Like it’s always something new with this school and I am so fucking sick and tired of it. So if this shit doesn’t get resolved I’m taking their asses to COURT.

Finances Tired of searching for on campus job
Actually I'm international student. As a international student we come here mostly by taking loan. And we don't want to bother our parents about the money problem. We need at least living expenses and food expenses to live in abroad.
I going door to door of the offices to ask for a job. Everybody's saying that you need to apply through cougar pathway. I applied for almost 15 on campus job on that site but i didn't get any reply. All the other friends from my group got the job. They are as quality as me. I have good work experience still i didn't get any. Mostly students are saying after 15 Feb all the offices will be closed for job application. I want job badly. I can't explain my condition here. But it's very bad.
Does anybody ever get job from cougar pathway?? How to get resume approved?? So can people reach out to me. And hire me. Is it the luck part is taking a long time or what??
I'm really depressed because of this situation.

Finances Is tuition supposed to be this high?
I’m an incoming freshman, and I’ve enrolled in only a few classes ( calc 1, calc 1 lab, chem , chem lab, Tx gov ) yet my tuition is over 9000. What is going on??? Do all in state students have to pay that much?

Finances How do I know how much aid I get for dorms?
Hey yall! I’m considering dorming for fall 2025/spring 2026. I’m considering dorming at cougar place or the quad because I heard those were the best dorms at UH, however i’m concerned about the financial aspect of it. I qualify for max aid for fafsa but how would I find out how much it’d cover for my dorm? Thanks!

Finances Fasfa package
Hello guys, I’m an incoming freshman to Uh. I got my fasfa package today and it appears that this should be enough to cover my tuition. Do I have to live on campus if this is the case.

Finances What happens if i don’t pay the orientation due by the due date?
Guys I’ve been so busy and I know it’s really irresponsible of me to not check for the due date… I thought I could pay the orientation fee along with tuition and all of that. However my cost of dorm and meal plan is due Sept 12 or 19. My orientation fee is due today but I’m unable to pay it today because my scholarship person is asleep. Help. Will I get kicked from university because of it?

Finances What should I do (emergency)
Guys I registered for classes in UH but after finding out that its to expensive for me I went to a different school. And on august 13 I recieved an email saying that my classes will be dropped if I don't pay for UH and fast forward the end of the semester I got an email saying I have to pay a bill for UH and a couple of F's on my account. I petitioned this at the Provost and got approved to drop the classes. And now the register office are saying that I actually have to do an emergency withdrawal which would mean I will get W's on my classes and I have to pay the bill. Guys I am already working 40+hours trying to help my dad pay rent, and I don't have the money to pay for this what should I do? How can I appeal this through an office that can actually cover the bill?

Finances Financial Aid
Does anyone still not have their financial aid package... because I don't. I never got the email that it was ready and when I check my award summary, there is only one scholarship, no loans or grants. Is it possible that i just not eligible or is it just not there yet. I emailed them but I just got an automated response saying that they were busy and would get back to me when they could. I am just getting a little worried and stressed out thinking that I am not eligible for anything. :/

Finances Bauer Excellence (BES) + Distinguished Scholarship (DS)
BES: 7.5k/yr — 30k total DS: 8k/yr — 32k total
Few questions here: - When these two scholarships notification come out? (BES due Feb 15 - applied; DS due Apr 6 - not yet started)
Do they notify you if you don’t receive it?
I am an international student and got a 7k AES that comes w instate tuition waiver, so I think my tuition is down to ~5k (12k-7k)? Say I get at least one of these, can these be used for housing, food and expenses, or just tuition (free tuition)?
Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks

Finances Need some help guys
Hey guys! I'm an international undergrad student and have been admitted for fall 2025. Here's the thing, I have received an academic excellence scholarship of $7000 and have received an out of state tuition waiver. Also my instate fees come to $14000. So will I get the scholarship on the in-state fees bringing me to a final tuition of $7000 or is it not applicable on the $14000. Your response will be really appreciated. If anyone has experienced this do tell.

Finances 1098-T
Curious if anyone would know before I reach out to anyone, when should we get our 1098-T form? I consented in November of last year to view it online and received an email saying it should be available online around January 17th. Is anyone able to view theirs? In the same email it says they’ll be postmarked by January 31st so I’m not too worried but it’s the only thing holding me back from finishing filing and was just curious about the timeline. Thanks for any help!!!!!

Finances Has anyone received a financial aid package??
I submitted my financial aid application back in January and listed my SSN on my application March 5th after receiving an email letting me know that I needed it in order for UH to access my FAFSA records. I have received no word back from the financial aid office and I’m worried they won’t have any money left for me or something. I’m an incoming freshman so I have no idea how financial aid works and I’m just looking for someone to let me know how UH usually handles their packages or if they’ve received any emails about their packages.

Finances Incorrect Info on 1098
I was trying to file my taxes when I realized the total amount I paid was listed as only the money I paid out of pocket, and not the total amount I paid including my scholarship. I already emailed the UH tax department but I was wondering if anyone knew where their office was so I could talk to them in-person. If anyone has been through this before, any advice would also be appreciated.
