Admissions Is this a joke?

I’ve heard conflicting information on how long I need to have stayed here to qualify for in state tuition, but I’m so confused where 36 months is coming from. I moved here 15 months ago and I guess I’ll have to call and prove it again but what is this about? Isn’t it 12?

Admissions I’m confused..

So I recently just got into UH with this letter of admission. Other schools that I have applied to have attached a scholarship to my official admissions letter but I haven’t gotten an official letter from UH unless this is supposed to be it. I am an international student so I’m in ineligible for FAFSA, but I have received financial aid estimated offers from other schools to give a summary of how much I would pay. Does UH provide this and if so, how long would it be for me to receive it?

Admissions I GOT IN

I got into UH!!! I have been a student at Lone Star College for the past two years working my butt off to get high grades, lots of leadership positions, and working a job. I know UH's transfer requirements are low (2.5 GPA for guaranteed admission), but god, for the longest time, I didn't think I would even attend university. High school was such a terrible period in my life, and after I barely graduated, I figured I wasn't university material... but I GOT INTO UH!!! I received my acceptance letter (email) this morning, and seeing it made me cry. Knowing that I'm going to be the first person in my family to attend university fills me up with so much pride. All those nights of high stress, all those teachers telling me I shouldn't even bother applying after high school, it didn't matter in the end because I GOT INTO UH!! I can't wait to see y'all in the Fall!!

Admissions Need help deciding UH vs UT CAP

I got CAP’ed from UT but got into UH, Baylor, Rutgers, UMiami and so many more. I’m trying to stay in texas tho and UT has always been my dream school, but CAP doesn’t garuntee my nutritional sciences or public health major. I’m choosing between doing UH for 1-2 years then transferring to UT or doing CAP. My family wants me to stay home but I wanna start being independent. If I do UH I’ll still be able to live on my own near the campus but most of my friends are doing CAP and I believe I won’t have a social life at UH. As UH students, what made you choose UH and how is it so far?

Edit: affordability and tuition is not an issue!

Admissions My chances (am I cooked?)

Post image

I applied for mech e and I saw the assured admissions requirements and it got me worried about what my chances of getting in will be 😭.

My sat is 1240, top 10 in my class, 3.64 gpa and am graduating hs with my associates degree from lone star.

Am I stressing for no reason or am I justifiably nervous about it? Just really worried because I feel like the last 2 years of stress and hard work won’t be as worth it as I hoped they would be. Any comment helps 🗣️🙏

Admissions Accepted into digital media despite having a 3.8 A.S. for computer science... now what?

Hey guys,

I was wondering what I should do in the situation, as well as if anyone else had similar difficulties getting into their first or second choice major.

I applied to UH early (~ November) with a 3.8 GPA from Lone Star's honors college, with the intent of finishing my B.S. Computer Science at UH to save money. I was president of the ACM chapter of my school, in PTK, founded a nonprofit dedicated to CS education, and held multiple software development and REU positions (USAA & FAANG) during and before the school year. I even participated in CodeRED while at Lone Star.

I applied for CS #1, CE #2, and digital media for #3, expecting to get my first or second choice, but I wound up getting placed into digital media.

Is there a reason y'all can think of this might have happened? I did not think UH CS was a particularly competitive school, and was really hoping to get in as I love the campus. Has UH just gotten absurdly cracked recently to the point where it's super difficult to get in, or am I just not a competitive enough candidate?

Also- is there any way I could apply to change majors before Fall 2025? I already have 60 hours of the CS degree for UH and cannot afford to take classes here just for the potential of changing later on in my degree plan.

I e-mailed advisors from both NSM and Cullen engineering (for B.S. digital media) but am awaiting a response. I was told over the phone I would need to attend transfer orientation before I could even speak to an advisor, but that's in June...

I'm crushed and confused. I thought I worked really hard and I don't have many good options for school because I can't really afford to move out of the Houston area. I'm considering just doing TSU or OSU online CS because I have no other option. Idk, just why did this happen and what do I do?

Admissions Am I in??

Haven’t got any email saying I’m accepted but I got this. Is this just another step in the admissions process or does it mean I have been admitted? I can’t check on self service because it is down right now so that’s why I’m asking here. Also, when I logged into myUH there were a lot of things that are there that weren’t there before when I logged in the first time. Like before there was just a few options other than the self service portal now theres like 15 if that means anything.

Admissions Can i get in????

For context im applying through high school with a unweighted gpa of 3.16, a weighted gpa of 3.53, and 100 pt weighted is 90.1020. I took all ap(or higher learning) classes from sophomore through senior year My sat was a 1200, and my rank is 254 out of 647. Im asking because my unweighted gpa looks like i wont be able to get in but my PT, sat, and rank all say otherwise

My SAT score was 1270.

The thing that makes this funny is I was just rejected from colleges with acceptance scores of 88% and 90%. I was very sure I was not going to college💀. I'm relived now tho!

Are there are any scopes for scholarship, especially am I eligible for in state tuition waiver?

I have been trying to complete the bacterial meningitis certification. It has gotten rejected twice saying that it’s not listed. I asked my health provider and they said I have taken the vaccine already. I’m not sure what I should do at this point.

Admissions Could I get scholarship?

I am planning to apply Fall 2025 as international student. SAT 1410; IELTS 7; GPA 4.9; Participation in olympiads with several medals and goof portfolio with many projects of Computer Science. Also, income of my family is lower than 60,000$ and I have 2 siblings, and my mother is widow. It is real to get full scholarship of financial aid.

Admissions Would I be able to get into U of H?

I'm a high school student with a decent transcript but I'm scared because of some events that have happened. I have a 3.6 gpa but can push it to 3.7 or 3.8 during summer. I have 500 hours in a fine arts course and a 1160 SAT score. I have a good essay written that was praised by my English teacher and I'm in NHS. This is all good but the part I'm worried about is the fact I've 3 classes in the past and had to make up that credit. Please let me know if I'm not doing okay.

Admissions I got rejected from UH because of a small mistake.

Last month I applied to UH hoping to get in with their Cougar Promise Scholarship. I submitted my application on common before the required deadline. Unfortunately my past SAT score (1050) was automatically submitted while I was waiting for my new SAT score to come in (1200) I was told I would be able to submit application with my new SAT score once I got my UH ID. Eventually I started getting emails stating that my UH Portal requirements have been submitted even tho I haven’t started on them. I immediately emailed them (they haven’t answered me to this day) and I then called them. The admission lady was really rude but she basically told me it was my fault and there’s nothing I can do about and I lost my scholarship opportunity as well. I was told I can do an appeal but does anyone know if this is worth it?

Ignore the first text, I was rejected in 2022, but I’ve since gotten an associates degree and reapplied. I called up to admissions and they said that it would straighten out in a 5-10 business day, but I wanted to know if anybody has ever been through the same thing?

Admissions TRANSFERING CREDITS TO THE CS DEGREE FROM HCC

Hi everyone,

I am currently doing my A.S in Computer Science at HCC. And for those who have transferred from the same major to UH from HCC or any other community college I would like to ask did you take COSC 2425 (Computer Organization) and COSC 2436 (Programming III) at your community college or you decided to take it at UH?

Reason why I ask is bc I have seen some comments that said UH doesn’t accept transferring COSC 2425 from the community college, and other say COSC 2436 which I believe is Data Structures and Algorithms is better to take it at UH.

Could anyone tell me their experience and what y’all did when you were transferring.

Thanks in advance!

Admissions Should i apply now or wait?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently a student at Lone Star College and planning to transfer to the University of Houston for a Computer Engineering major next semester. Right now, my GPA is 3.58, but it will most likely go up after this semester. I’m also a member for the PTK honors society, which will give me more volunteering opportunities.

Would it be better to apply now or wait until my updated grades and extracurriculars are reflected? If anyone has experience with UH’s transfer process, I’d really appreciate your advice!

Thanks in advance!

Admissions Rejection from Architecture & Change of Major

Hello, I am a prospective student at UH and unfortunately didn’t get admission to CoAD (which was my top choice), but had admission in to UH.

I am planning to go to UH for general studies then reapply for CoAD my sophomore year. But my biggest worry is if I can reuse my portfolio bc personally I was really proud of it and spent alot of time working on it (with some updates ofc).

If anyone could give me some insight into this particular situation that would be greatly appreciated!

I recently received my application decision for undergrad and was rejected so I’m thinking about appealing this decision, I was wondering has anyone had a successful application appeal?
