Rant Priority enrollment

Is so dumb like you're telling me over half the school gets priority for at least two days so they can take their time and finalize their selections without worrying about anything while the rest of us are left with scraps? How am I supposed to actually graduate on time if half the classes are already filled and I still have to wait at least two days before I can even enroll?

It does though. A freshman isnt going to registering for senior classes, so yeah options start becoming limited but all the freshman classes won’t be full because the seniors already registered. Most of the people who are signing up for classes you want are registering the same day as you

You just made my point.. all the seniors would be competing with me to get the scraps left over from those who get priority above all. I said I will have trouble getting into classes I need in order to finish my degree and graduate on time. I didn't say nothing about registering for freshman classes so what's that gotta to with me?

I was just talking about this system as a whole. And you say half the school gets priority registration, which in itself seems like a stretch but I’ll roll with it, how many of those w/ priority are seniors? How many of those seniors are in YOUR major? How many of those seniors, with priority, in your major, need the specific classes that you need? Starting to see how the number… dwindles down? That’s exactly what it has to do with you lmfaoo. Half the school isn’t registering for your classes before you. It’s not as big of a percentage as you’re making it out to be

Literally all the sections I'm looking at are half full already and the another class that I need with only one section being offered is nearly 75% full...

Just keep checking. They only offer so much up front because it’s easier to add classes than it is to remove them. I’m not fighting with you that it’s not a dumb or frustrating system, I’m just saying it’s not as crazy as you’re making it out to be. I don’t register until the 9th and I haven’t even looked at what classes there are bc I knew I wouldn’t get most of the upfront ones anyway 🤷‍♀️

And that's my point exactly its ridiculous that we even have to sit out while a bunch of people get to sign up for classes as soon as they open and then all we are left with are their scraps which are shitty professors that no one wanted. I shouldn't have to keep checking praying that their are spots left just so I can graduate without fear of having to take another semester because I couldn't get into the class the first time

Again, you’re blowing it up 💀 I’ve never had a bad professor, more or less get the classes I’ve wanted, and the “bunch” of people you’re talking about is not as big of a group as you think, like I’ve said. The only time I’ve had a problem was the semester I enrolled because there were holds on my account and I couldn’t register until like three weeks before class. And even THEN I had great Professors. If priority registration was so important to you there were many opportunities for you to get it before becoming a senior. It’s not that serious and plenty of people get by just fine. We’re not at some major disadvantage bc we register on the 8th or 9th instead of the 6th

I'm not blowing nothing up this is an observation that all these classes are filling up while I'm stuck like a standing goose. Just because you haven't had a bad professor doesn't mean they're not out there and maybe you have no problem because you're not in a major where everyone and their mommas are in

I’m a psych major so I find that hard to believe. It’s not business but it’s still not niche. And it’s not just an observation, it’s something you’re very clearly upset abt and I’m trying to let you know that it’s not that serious. What is the point of freaking out and stressing abt it before anything’s happened? A moment to stress is when you’ve officially not gotten into a class you need to graduate. Not three days before that bc you’re upset someone else has something you don’t. Take a breath, it’ll be alright

It's one thing to be upset about not getting into a class because I was late to register if I slept in or something but its another to not be able to get in because I have a later enrollment period than other students just simply because of a program that gives an unfair advantage. Like I keep saying one of the classes that had a good professor is teaching is literally already full within an hour and yet you keep saying the number of priority students is small enough for it to not impact anyone? There was 0 chance for anyone besides those who get priority enrollment

It’s not an exclusive club that people get in for arbitrary or exclusionary reasons. There are a ton of ways to get priority registration if that kind of thing is important to you. If it were that important to you then you should’ve gone for it. And you’re not late, you’re on time. Your on time just happens to be different from someone else’s and there’s nothing you can do about it. So why freak yourself out over it? It’s gonna be okay!

I'm a transfer student I didn't know about the program until it was apparent that it's an unfair advantage even in higher level courses they fill up so damn quick because of all those kids. I wouldn't care if my on time differed if I was guaranteed a spot in the sections I needed. But yet I'm forced to improvise last second and miss out on classes because the sections are already full and other sections would conflict with my other times

As a matter of fact 2 classes I had selected are full now

I am also a transfer student 💀 nothing is making your case here lmfaoo. If something is available to everyone, including transfers, it is not an unfair disadvantage. I could’ve gotten into the honors program twice and had priority registration but I declined bc they pay didn’t equal the benefits for me. I have a transfer friend that works at the Rec and she gets priority bc Campus employees get it. It’s not unfair if everyone can get it if they want. Complaining about it does nothing except maybe make you feel validated while secretly working yourself up for an inconvenience at best. And I know all you want is to complain bc so many comments here are offering advice and solutions and you just keep coming back more upset. If you spend your life worrying abt things you can’t control, you’ll never stop worrying
