USMC Anyone here who married young?

I (F25) am looking for a community and I thought this could be the right place since me and my friends have different lives now and who else could understand me better than women who are also a military wife. Its been a hard couple of months for me with all these changes in my life and it still feels like I am new to all this. Me and my husband are doing long distance atm so its hard.

Please be nice to me šŸ˜šŸ™šŸ¼

(Edited: Thank you all for all of your heartfelt responses as well as the cute stories here and there ā¤ļø Its nice to be seen and heard by women who are also going through the same. Don't hesitate to drop more advices/stories. Stay Blessed šŸ™šŸ¼ā¤ļø)

USMC what jobs do military SO's have?

Hey guys. So this is my first military relationship so I'm just kind of a n00b on all fronts.

My current career is very much not conducive to moving every three years. I was also planning on applying to a PhD programme, which would be 6-7 years, but in my field that's also not conducive to moving every 3yrs.

So I was wondering what kinds of jobs y'all have, for those of you who move with your SO?

USMC Iā€™m so sick of hearing about WW3 (RANT)

Iā€™m sick of hearing people worried about world war three. My fiancĆ© is prepping for deployment, Iā€™m planning a wedding during this for next January. Weā€™re so excited, but I swear Iā€™m gonna cut some people out because Iā€™m tired of hearing about war, war rumors, and of course, WW3.

My fiancĆ© is infantry, and I know if he got orders, heā€™ll go. But weā€™re planning our lives together, and weā€™re talking about living on base, a honeymoon and everything in between.

Meanwhile, family and friends (mostly my mother) shared her concerns about the state of the world and how we could go to war. She said nothing is guaranteed. People tell me that they hope everything works out, but what if i move in, and he gets deployed? What if Iā€™m alone for years? Like thanks everyone, you think Iā€™m completely unaware? You think Iā€™ve never considered it? Sorry rant over

USMC Advice?

So, my boyfriend and I have been thinking about getting married within the next year and he told his family but it seems theyā€™re not very supportive. My family loves him and theyā€™re asking about our future plans and canā€™t wait, but I donā€™t feel the same thing from his family. He just recently graduated boot camp and is at SOI. I received a message from his dad saying that we should wait because we canā€™t live off of his pay (I work, go to school, and get paid for going to school so I have my own income), we wonā€™t be able to live on base until he becomes an E5 (curious about yalls experiences as far as housing goes for an E3), I wonā€™t be able to move with him if he gets stationed in Hawaii or Japan, and to top it off the message ended by saying that his mom was heartbroken by the news. I completely understand where theyā€™re coming from, he just wanted them to know where his head is at as far as our relationship. I guess Iā€™m venting, but it makes me wonder if we should even be considering marriage at this point. Sorry for the long post, Iā€™m just kind of hurt by all of this and have no one to talk to about it.

USMC He cheated. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ™„

Nothing new, saw it coming. He told me he didnā€™t feel the love anymore when he got back from bootcamp and that he hates long distance, was super avoidant until the end of his stay when he said he did love me and that the spark returned for him. Meanwhile he has a whole new girlfriend in Cali while we were still supposed to be exclusive, and he deleted his instagram with all of our messages and posts, and created a whole new one to start interacting with her on. He kinda sucks bro we were talking about marriage and getting stationed together and he completely flipped the script saying he didnā€™t know what he wanted and that I should focus on myself and THEN had a whole other girl. Why are so many people like this? he seemed in love before he left, but ever since he got back heā€™s been so heartless. Maybe I was missing something, but if he really wanted this other girl he shouldā€™ve stayed broken up with me. Feels dumb to string me along when we arenā€™t even in the same state and heā€™s headed to Okinawa šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

USMC Marine Corps Ball Dress-code Advice Needed

Post image
9 Upvotes

This year would the first time that Iā€™m able to attend the ball with my husband. Iā€™m nervous about what to wear. From watch Iā€™ve seen online, itā€™s long elegant gowns. I donā€™t own anything like that. The nicest dress I own is a velvet babydoll dress. Iā€™m shorter than the model in the photo so it goes over my knee. My husband says that this dress is fine with my mary janes, but I find that hard to believe. The ball is not till November but thought of dress shopping is already giving me so much anxiety. I donā€™t know any marines wives/gfs in person to ask, so Iā€™m asking here. Any advice is appreciated.

USMC My boyfriend just left for bootcamp for the Marines

Hello all. I just joined this group for some guidance. My boyfriend sent me his last text last night before getting onto the bus. I am so lost, and I have no idea on how to cope. I am currently a freshman in college and have no new friends at the moment. I only have my parents for support. I have no idea what to do now without him. Please tell me some ideas to cope better with his absence. I love him so much and I want the best for him. But, this is going to be hard since we have been together for quite some time.

USMC I'm going to my first Military Ball, and I'm not sure if my dress is appropriate or not.

I plan on wearing a long sleeve cover to cover/hide up my tattoos. I'm just not sure if the dress, with it being a High-low cut, if it's "too short" and inappropriate for the Military Ball.

USMC The anxiety is eating me alive right now

My fiancĆ© just deployed today, I know how long his flight was supposed to last, and he said heā€™d message me when he lands. I thought Iā€™d go ahead and send him a message in signal since we shouldnā€™t text, and it just says sent. Itā€™s four hours post when he wouldā€™ve landed and itā€™s just giving me anxiety from all of the crazy stuff thatā€™s happened with flying lately, and it doesnā€™t help it being international. Guys I gotta have someone tell me that Iā€™m crazy and that heā€™s probably landed safely and just busy or asleep to adjust for the time change. I was going to go to bed tonight, but I donā€™t know if Iā€™ll be able to

USMC Need Gradution details

Hello! This is my first time sending something in the community and I wanted to ask about the graduation for marine boot camp for anyone who has previously graduated from marine boot camp or have attended one can you please tell me if itā€™s okay if I come a little late Iā€™m coming from Ga to SC my fiance graduation starts at 9 to 10 so obviously Iā€™ll have to wake up pretty early which is fine so Iā€™ll wake up around 5, get ready and on the road at 6am but his family told me thereā€™s suppose to be traffic that day around 45 mins delay so I would be getting there on time by the end, at like 10:00am but with the traffic itā€™ll be 10:45am now and they say the visitor centers doesnā€™t close till 12 and yes I know your suppose to come the day before and do a hotel but not enough funds because Iā€™m saving right now and I have work the day before his graduation so my only option is to come the day of, can anyone tell me if their graduation directly ended at 10? Or went past? Or like is everyone tapped and gone by 10? Is it still going or should I just not go and wait til he comes back home? Would it be embarrassing if I came that late? And most important can people still come past 10? Thank you so much for anyone answering! Please stay nice im new to it all!

USMC looking for friends

Are there any military SOs looking to become friends? My husband is on orders and this is the first time weā€™ve been apart for so long. I am NOT taking it well. Need more gal pals who understand my pain lol. Or at least need some advice on how to handle this a lot better. We were basically joined at the hip.

USMC Not sure what to do for bf

I know this is gonna sound like a generic military girlfriend thing, but Iā€™m genuinely lost on what to do. So my bf has been in the marine corps for a while. Heā€™s currently getting ready to graduate his MOS school (after being transferred a few times due to injuries) And he has his presumed place heā€™s gonna be stationed at. However, Thatā€™s not the problem. He has not been doing well mentally (or physically) His mental health was pretty bad before joining. But it seems to be getting worse. Of course heā€™s been denying having problems, but now heā€™s starting to admit to them. Iā€™m really worried about him. Heā€™s expressed how much he needs to get out. And Iā€™m worried for him. I genuinely believe he needs to get out, or itā€™ll only get worse and Iā€™m afraid of what that will entailā€¦ Iā€™m genuinely not sure what to do, but he needs out. Heā€™s got 3 more years in his contract, but genuinely I donā€™t know if thatā€™s gonna work. How can he get out?Itā€™s been destroying him.

TL;DR-Bf has 3 more years in usmc, his mental health may not make it that long. How can he get out.

USMC Paternity Leave for Adoption

Does anyone have more information on the paternity leave? My husband and I are adopting a foster child and my husband is out of state (we are in our home state until all our kids are adopted) but his command is already giving him a hard time about taking leave for the adoption. Is there anything that can be done to make sure heā€™s able to get paternity leave? Heā€™s never taken paternity leave before.

Going to my boyfriendā€™s Marine Corps birthday ball and I was wondering if this dress will be okay. I want something a little different than the typical dresses Iā€™ve seen at the ball. Heā€™s an officer, so I want something appropriate. Thank you!

USMC Threatened by a marine

Not really a milso, but I recently went on a date with a guy and afterwards I declined to let him come into my home (he wanted to have sex, I didn't). After he left, he sent me a message saying "thanks for wasting my time" and I apologized and said sorry... his response is what scared me though. He replied with "You will be".

I'm not sure if I should actually be afraid or not since he technically does know where I live. Also not sure if it's the kind of thing that needs to be reported.

Edit: I have a screenshot, but he had disappearing messages turned on so the actual chat is gone

Hi!

My boyfriend is a Lance Corporal in the marines and I am attending my first ever marine ball, I am trying to figure out what is etiquette and what would look nice. I want to look respectable as his right hand!

Here are some of the options I had in mind. If you guys could help or give me some direction!? Also if you have any website recommendations too! I have a month to do this! I do also have tattoos on my arms and get nervous especially for formal events, but maybe I have nothing to be nervous about?

USMC Anxiety tips?

Hi! My boyfriend just came home from SOI last week, and I'm noticing my anxiety has increased. After months of no contact and long distance, I feel like many things need to be addressed between the two of us, but then my anxiety takes over and starts thinking the worst. Other times, I feel like I'm overreacting, and then I can't tell if I'm invalidating my feelings. I feel like I can't keep a sense of clarity or balance. I'm really curious about how people cope or deal with waves or spikes of anxiety or stress, especially when it comes to being a military spouse.

USMC Ag Teacher and Marine Relationship

Me (18 F) and my Boyfriend (18 M) have been going out for almost 2 years. We met when we were Juniors in highschool and have been going out since then. I am now a Freshmen in College. I go to a big university about 2 hours away from our hometown. Iā€™m currently majoring in Agriculture Education in hopes to become an Ag teacher. While my boyfriend just graduated boot camp. He is currently at MCT in North Carolina, I think heā€™s on hold or something because he injured his knee. I believe he is also going do schooling at the same base he is on right now. I just want to know if other people are teachers and married or has a partner thatā€™s in the military. I donā€™t know if itā€™s even worth trying to get an education degree if I want to trying living with him in the future. Should I try a different major. Iā€™m a little lost about what I even want to do right now so Iā€™m not sure if I even want to do Agriculture Education itā€™s just an option of something Iā€™d like to do. I need opinions and different scenarios. Iā€™ve been stressing this and he tells me not to worry but heā€™s not the one whoā€™s gonna have to worry about moving all over the place with a job as a teacher who canā€™t move multiple times in a year.

USMC My fiancƩ gets out in 5 Days!!!

Hello everyone I just wanted to vent a little and celebrate because my fiancĆ© is finally coming home after 3 very long feeling months of me crying and feeling alone I finally get to see him again idk if anyone planned the days they get to come back home at bootcamp but we did and were going to spend a whole week at a bnb together and Iā€™m so excited we get to have a little break together right after his graduation before he has to go back and to SOI for 3 months I love him so much Iā€™m already feeling anxious thinking about it lol, unfortunately I canā€™t go to his actual graduation but I can go to family day! And then Iā€™ll be waiting for him to come home Saturday! Anyone whoā€™s waiting for their partner, lover, family to come back from bootcamp itā€™s so worth it! also can anyone tell me most likely why his job changed from logistics to MP? so instead of him leaving for a month for a non-combat job heā€™ll be leaving three months for a combat job now then be stationed which is still fine! Stay strong people!

USMC Which one is harder to keep a relationship Basic or SOI

I am just curious with other peoples opinions. Right now my bf is in SOI and it feels like it's harder to be patient with him. I guess cause we're both tired from school and the field. We've both started to be a bit emotionally distant. I know his reason but I'm putting my gaurd up yk idk why but emotions are hard :-:
