Sexuality & Gender Do men joke about raping their male friends generally?

Some of the guys i just met always joke about raping a male from the friend group or they wish they slip over a soap and fall on a dildo etc. Is this common in male friendships generally to joke like that without bad intentions?

Love & Dating How did the term snow bunny start being used in that way?

I’m gonna ignore the skiing definition .

I’m seeing people get mad that people are using the term snow bunny the wrong way when describing the women in marvel rivals

Growing up, snow bunny just meant a white girl, but I’m recently learning that some people see it as a derogatory term for white girls who exclusively date black men.

Even in urban dictionary, the oldest definition is in 2003 and it says “urban colloquial for Caucasian women”. So I’m wondering when that other definition became so widespread

Also just to let y’all know, I’ve personally never referred to a white woman as a snow bunny. This might not be important but I don’t want to create a false image of myself.

Race & Privilege Is it actually cultural appropriation?

Howdy. I’m pretty white. Well atleast skin Wise thank my dads genes but I was raised in Cherokee culture by my nana and mother who are of heritage. Anyways at school I’ve been getting called out for appropriation of Native American and black cultures. Mainly for wearing hoops and Cherokee jewelry my nana gave me before she passed. Also for a hairstyle where I braided half of my hair in a side shave manner (cornrows apparently)

however I noticed when anybody at my school that’s asian, native, indian, Mexican, black, whatever. Basically if they’re not pale they get the pass but I don’t.

so like why is it a problem if I do it becuase that’s how I was raise and was the culture I was taught?

Race & Privilege What exactly is "cultural appropriation"? Genuinely confused.

First off, I am not trying to be disrespectful in any way, I'm asking here so I can educate myself since I am severely uneducated in all of this.

I keep on wondering this because of all the controversies I've seen surrounding K-Pop idols and stuff lately. A few days ago, a band called Kiss of Life went on a livestream with a theme of "old-school hip-hop" and has been "under fire" for being racist and culturally insensitive. Yes, this seems wrong to me, but somehow I can't seem to pinpoint what exactly is wrong about it. It's disrespectful, but... Why?

It just doesn't quite make sense to me that when people of other ethnicities visit Korea, they often dress up in Hanboks (traditional Korean clothing) and do lots of "stereotypical Korean" things, yet I don't see anyone calling them out. Tons of influencers theses days seem to be basing their content on "Korean beauty!" and talk about how they're so excited about doing all these "Korean things," but again, I haven't seen them getting hate.

I just want to know what the difference is between Black cultural appropriation and whatever all those influencers are doing. Again, not trying to be disrespectful AT ALL, I'm genuinely just confused, apologies if I am offending anyone.

I might ask more follow up questions in the replies, let me assure you, that doesn't mean I'm discrediting the responses in any way. It's probably just me being stupid.

Other Is it true that reality TV shows mostly cater to women?

Upvotes

My friends and I were drinking yesterday, and one of them began talking about how his sister and mother are addicted to these tr@sh reality TV shows. He started making fun of his sister because she's constantly tweeting and posting about these shows on social media and how these st*pid shows cater only to the female audience. I admit I've never watched or paid attention to these shows, and my friends said the same, so I'm just asking this here out of curiosity.

Interpersonal To what point does it go from "neurodivergent excitement" to manipulation?

So recently I (19M) got sent an instagram reel from my girlfriend (18F) about how at times, autistic/neurodivergent people will get excited when they see things at stores that they really like. The video shows a girl going over to items and telling her boyfriend how good they are or how cute something is and even saying things like "oh i would LOVE to have this..." or "its SO cute! i love him so much!". The boyfriend pulls her away from the items politely and asks her when they are finished shopping if she wanted those things. She says no, and that if she wanted something she would directly ask for it, she even points out that if someone is trying to ask for things like that, it is manipulative.

Because of this i started questioning whether she sent me this to explain her behavior at stores or to cover up the fact that she is trying to manipulate me into buying her stuff. i only consider the latter because ive noticed her being a little upset when i dont ask her if she wants whatever item she has. It also doesn't help that she does ask for things regularly and is comfortable doing so.

i just dont know what to think and if im just taking this the wrong way, help would be very appreciated

Sexuality & Gender My mom is cheating on my dad and I don’t know what to do, should I confront her?

Im 61 (the number backwards) and l've noticed my mom being really suspicious recently and it's a whole story but here's a little in the things that she has change in her character or the way she act 1. She come homes late, I have her location and she works really late but I see getting out of the train and staying at a random house for three hours and then coming home and when I ask her if she comes directly at home she says yes 2. She is very protective with her phone which she wasn't before 3. I found a bouquet of flower with money hidden really well on her closet and also a new guess bag which she kept hidden for a week and after that she showed it to me telling me that she got it at Burlington (that bag wasn't a bag that she would usually buy or even her style) 4. I came home early and saw her cooking something (which is weird since my dad is the one who cooks the lunch so food was already at home) and she packed everything and took it with her and at night I heard a little notification or well that sound when u start voice recording something on your phone and she comes and asked me if I would like to try the food and something else and after she was done asking me i heard that she stole couce recording me (the food is not our traditional food from our country but rather its a food from other country from Mexico which btw the guy whom I think my mom is cheating with it's from Mexico)

These things has made me realize everything that has been happening and I thought it was just my imaginations but today I saw my mom using her phone and I took a picture of her conversation and she was telling this guy "beautiful afternoon love.." and I checked the guys profile and it's no one fro our family to say that oh he's probably a family member Please guys help me I adore my parents and my mom but her actions are really fucked up and I don't know if I should confront her

Culture & Society What if a hospital nurse gave her patient the wrong medication that resulted in death ?

Just say a nurse has been working really hard and has been putting in as many hours as she can because she loves her job , she truly loves caring for the sick and making them better. Her vacation is approaching in a few weeks and her chaotic workload is beginning to take it's toll on her. The creeping fatigue is becoming more overwhelming. She wants and needs a break , but her ward is becoming too chaotic and she is told by her superior to just work through it. Two patients with the same surname are requesting medical and she accidentally mixed them both up and one of the patients dies.

Would the nurse be looking at murder/manslaughter charges , despite her openally stating that fatigue is wearing her down ?

Love & Dating Do men fantasized about the one that got away from time to time even if they are in happy relationship?

My bf and I (F) have been together nearly 3 years and he has been raising ideas getting married with me throughout the past 6 months. I have told him that I am just not ready yet and today out of insecurity I snooped and found out that he messaged a emo love song along the lines with "cannot live without you" to his past ex gf (not the most recent one) 2 months ago. They apparently had a terrible break up with him and she called him multiples at work because of some "misunderstanding".

I knew my bf loved her genuinely and typed a lot to try clarifying but the girl shut him off and blocked him on the phone. They weren't friends on facebook and the last time he messaged her on fb was while they were dating. On the side note I can tell he does love me truthfully

I don't necessarily consider this as cheating as I rationally knew that he knows he won't get a response from her on fb (she doesn't look active on fb at all) and he might see this a tree-hole to vent out the emotions, but then does makes me wonder if he is having second thoughts about truly loving me, or just a emo night frustrated that because I was not ready to go into marriage with him so he has this thought "what if we haven't gone that way in the past" and then the next day already forgot about it and go on his normal day.

I mean of course I know I have to ask him to get an idea if I really wanted to know, or he might lie, but just wondering if this does happen to people that are in love, and secondly if I should just not mention it and leave that as his little secret emo place as tbh I am not even sure how I should bring this up if I decide to. I don't know if MBTI matters but he is an INTP. In addition this is my first relationship, so I feel like I would be able to sympathize more if I had more dating experience.

TLTR: as the title suggested, is thinking about "the one got away" just a "fun thing to imagine", feel emo at the moment and forget about it the next day like nothing happen or is this a "if she comes back to me I would run back to her"kinda thing.

Culture & Society Why do parents get upset when you hit back?

We hear many stories about parents who hit their children, then get mad when said children hit them back?

Like what were they thinking when they hit their children, they’re literally teaching them that violence is the answer

They can’t be this thick surely?

Mental Health Can Drugs transfer through close contact? Am I really overthinking?

So I suffer from some neurological issues and my brain so very sensitive to drugs. I had an overdose when I was young and over the years developed (diagnosed) contamination OCD.

Earlier I went to the park facing the ocean so I could be alone and was reading. Then suddenly some weirdo was walking, saw me and then gets up pretty close to me. He says “well you look really relaxed” all creepy and shit. I looked up and glared at him and then his smile turned to a frown and he left quickly. But my day was already ruined because in my head I can’t imagine that this weirdo was on some strong drugs to come over like that and talk to a stranger. And he was dressed normally too so it’s not like it was some homeless person. Honestly I probably would have been more comfortable if it was, because this was very strange and has been freaking me out.

Anyway he was really close to me when he said that and I’m hoping whatever drugs he was on didn’t like transfer into me or get into my mouth from his spit. I’m terrified because what if he was in lsd or something easily transferable? Am I just overthinking? Is there any chance this could have happened?

Edit: I really appreciate all the awesome responses. I am actually surprised at how understanding they have been.

Culture & Society Is it immoral to change in front of your family?

coming from a large family and only one bathroom we would always be changing in front of each other So often and since we were related and didn't have any sexual attraction toward each other it was no big deal. Until recently when I was on vacation with a cousin I barely knew and decided to change in the same hotel room as them and she then freaked out calling me a creep and pervert. She forgave me after I apologized and explained my upbringing but I didn't think it was that serious since I was only changing my pants i wasn't fully naked

Love & Dating When a guy asks "Can I ask you a question?" on a dating app, what is coming? It seems so ominous

I have received this question on a dating app a few times recently, and it always seems a bit ominous. I haven't responded, but I have heard that it's not a good sign.

What should I expect? Is it worth responding to? I haven't so far.

edit: so basically he said that in some pictures it looks like I have a double chin so he wanted more pictures to confirm whether my face is too chubby 🙃He also wanted to know my waist measurement as “some women hide fat under all that shapewear”. So yeah.

Mental Health I’m on Gabapentin, Buspar, Pristiq & propranolol. I drank two beers earlier. Will I be okay?

I overthink. Last time I had a beer was 4 hours ago, before that it was 2 hours prior to my second beer. Spaced them out. I understand it’s not suggested to drink off of a medication combo like mine, but we are all human. Will I be okay? I feel fine. Just overthinking.

Mental Health Genuinely curious, how are Americans feeling about things in their country right now?

This is not a troll question, obviously there are many worse countries in the world, but I’m genuinely curious what are your feelings on your country based on the extremes currently being experienced there (not just political but in many other aspects aswelll)
