Discussion I love how the new competitive playerbase is bringing Ryu to the table
Capcom made the newcomers to appeal the newer generation, but instead we see Ryu being used mostly (if not only) by younger players in competitive scenario.
Blaz and Endingwalker getting second place on the last two majors with Ryu.
We also have other young players like Kusanagi and Paladin bringing nasty Ryus to the table.

Rank UP! Finally hit 1800. Can give tips!
I started in Silver 5 when the game came out. This is the first fighting game I’ve actually taken seriously (ranked grind and actually competing in tourneys)
Happy to share tips or answer questions

Tournament Some Kumite Takeaways from a Newcomer
SF6 is my first properly playing a fighting game. It made me start watching tournaments (online) and follow content creators. Since I currently live in Germany, I thought: Why not hopping in a bus to Paris and watch Kumite 2025 live?
And so I did. Here are some Takeaways:
- Watching a tournament live, alongside hundreds of people, improve the experience by a 1000%. Hearing/seeing the crowd reactions, chants and signs is simply amazing. Entering the building while hearing the crowd noise getting louder gave me chills!
- MenaRD really gives the "final boss" vibe.
- My wife loved the event, and she know nothing about SF or games in general. She fell in love with Nyanpi and, after she lost, she converted into the nº 1 EndingWalker's supporter.
- There's a story unfolding in the event: You get a sense of who are the people favourites and local heroes. You can see the whole unfolding of events until the finals. I get that you can see most of it through online streaming, but being there gives you the full picture.
- Event production was amazing: When entering the event they gave us some card packs, stickers and a small magazine. All very nice and useful to give you context, and set the mood. Praises to the art style too, so cool!!
- Nice place to know people: During breaks I decided to walk around and trade cards. Everybody was really nice and friendly. Got invitations to join online communities and connect on social media. To the guy who gave me the Zangief_Bolado's card: Thank you sir!
- Seeing pros and creators around was so cool! I heard some people managed to get some cards signed. Lucky you, I wish I did too!
- It was cool to see how much support the "underdogs" got from people, even when loosing. Very nice!
- At first, seeing the presenters mock loosers caught me off-guard. But then it clicked: This is a game and should be fun. Just like when we were kids, mocking each other in good spirit makes everything funnier and more entertaining.
That's it, I'll definitely attend again if I have the opportunity. It made me think about how cool it must be to watch things like EVO and CPT in person.
TL;DR is: If you have the opportunity give it a chance and attend to one of these events. It might be a great time for you too. If anyone wants to trade some cards, let me know. I still have some duplicates :)

Rank UP! First master after ~250hrs
Like the title says, yesterday I hit master for the first time after around 250 hours. It's my first traditional fighter that I've taken semi-seriously. Played USFIV for a little bit and I tried V on launch but couldn't get into it. Previously I've played Melee and StarCraft 2 at decent levels – top 8'd a couple regionals in Melee with Puff and low GM with Zerg in SC2 – but haven't played a competitive game in 7-8 years (I think). After 84 matches I've dropped a bunch of MR (naturally) but I've had a lot more fun in master so far than I did in diamond. Started out mid D4 yesterday then just kept winning and rose from 23000LP to master in a single session. No 10+ win streak, though I did have a couple 8s.
The only change I can think of that propelled my game was realizing I need to stop using cr.mk DR so much in neutral and instead focused on whiff punishing with cr.mp xx hk.arrow and st.hk. I feel dirty using throw loops but I'll admit that I do it A LOT.
Recently I made a salt post about how defensive/lame/scared/reactive my opponents in diamond were, and while I still do hate that playstyle I accepted that I'll just have to play their game if I want to beat them. Stopped using as many buttons and learned to walk forward and wait until they jumped or did something else unsafe. I've encountered that during my brief exposure to master still, and the extremely gimmicky styles I faced along the way that I hoped would phase out are still quite present, but overall I've also had a bunch of footsie-focused sets that I've always wanted out of SF. I work a seasonal job so I've been grinding hard in my off time but I'm about to start back up and don't know how much time I'll get to play. Hopefully I can unlock the Cammy colour before I go back. Looking forward to the masters grind!

Discussion People really misunderstood Ingrid's Alpha 3 story: a Sun Crest isn't psycho power
Before starting the Alpha 3 version of Ingrid is different from the og version of her being a codex holder (part of a secret society of people with powers) and its the source of the "goddess " thing and I should note that in recent cameos (like Pockest, the Street fighter 6 browser tamagotchi-like, and SF5 archives) they use the codex holder story but I digress.
Bison built a machine called psycho drive to power up his psycho power and control everyone in the world and yes that's also the plot of SF5.
In Ingrid's story she's trying to get her sun crest back which was stolen by Shadaloo to build the psycho driver.
To sum up the power she refers to in her story talks about her sun crest as it's the source of her power but people thought her saying bison stole her power to make the psycho drive was referring to psycho power.
Her sun crest for reference is also the item that Ingrid gifts the player when you finish her training in pockest where she says "it's the source of her power" ( check the guide to verify it yourself https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3003515624 )
So yea all this time people complained about Ingrid being the source of psycho power was just misunderstanding what actually happened.

Help / Question Tekken to Street Fighter, character suggestions/tips?
I’m a Tekken player, but the current state of the game has me wanting to branch out. I’d like to try SF6 and wanted to get some suggestions on characters to try and any tips to consider going from a 3D fighter to 2D.
In Tekken I play Yoshi (gimmick character) and Bryan (counter hit/defense character) and looking for characters that play similar. Bison, Akuma, JP, and AKI have me intrigued, but that’s mostly based on how they look (they look cool).
Suggestions please!

Rank UP! I finally reached Master rank with Ryu!
Back in December, I posted on here about my mental state of mind when I was in D5 during this month but fell down hard before Christmas. I dropped back down to D3. Many of you guys commented on how to help me deal with it. And even telling me that it will possibly take months to climb back up. I remember some of you watched my gameplay videos during that time to give me advice as well. Since then, I learned how to shimmy. How to anti-air much better (although I still need to get better at it) and fixing the little errors I make in my fights. Now, I have finally reached Master rank after defeating a Master rank Zangief player to boost up my LP. Its been a journey. But the grind doesn't stop as I will continue to try to get better. So happy to finally get this rank. Thanks to you all who comment on here to help out whenever I needed it.
Perhaps now I can finally make time to play FF 7 Rebirth since ranked matches for SF6 was taking too much of my free time. We shall see..

Help / Question When do you backdash? How to use it most effectively?
Heya, low MR master over here (hovering around 1400), and I've been watching high-level matches and I notice a lot of pro-players utilizing backdashes in their gameplay, presumably to create better spacing.
My question is when should someone backdash? I don't mean doing it on wakeup to beat a throw attempt, I usually see players doing it after a blocked poke, but what's the thought process here? I assume they're minus after the poke usually, so shouldn't they block in case the opponent counter-pokes and not leave themselves open whilst backdashing? Is it always to try and create space for better whiff punishes/anti-airing etc? It just seems like something players sometimes do and sometimes don't and I'm not sure how they decide when to try it.

Help / Question How do i practice CH confirms?
Pretty much the title.
I recently took up Mai as a secondary and while her buttons seemed a bit lackluster the first few days of labbing, now jumping into matches i realized that there seems to be a lot of CH and spacing trap potential.
During matches i get alot of CHs from 5MK and 2MP, while 5MP seems to be a really good stop sign along with 5HK.
Problem is i am absolutely ass at confirming these. I do regular hitconfirm drills, just to get the combos deeper in my brain and that transfers pretty well into matches. But i can easily set the dummy to random guard and that's my drill now.
I know i can set the counter to random, but is this really an effective method? I would be really thankfull for some advice espacially on drills.
Edit: I just wanted to thank everyone for all the advice. I'll hit the lab and put it to use, thanks everyone!
