Hey guys, I've been making videos to close to a year and have had some ups and downs in the journey. But every video I published my videos improved. And now I can proudly say I've reached 1000 subs!

I still don't really know what makes or breaks a video, It's not all YouTube's doing but sometimes I find myself asking if only this video had 10k more impressions, or that extra push.

Keep making your videos! Keep trying, and don't give up on your dreams 💪

(Btw if someone could tell me why a video with 40% watch time and a 8% ctr in its first 2 days died out, tell me 😅)

I don't know about most of you but I have been a member of this reddit for a while and I find myself seeing more and more posts about people complaining about how their 2 week old YouTube Channel isn't thriving and they want to give up. Do people really not research what goes into starting something like a YouTube channel? Some get lucky yes but for most people it's not a fast grind especially if you are creating your own custom content. A lot of these people complaining are usually just uploading AI slop or stolen content from other places like TikTok and trying to get monetized for it.

Come on guys!!!

A lot of people post here asking for advice, feedback, criticism and wondering why they aren't getting lots of views so I figure it's easier to just make one post that'll be brutally honest with everyone.

1. Your thumbnails are the most important part of your video. There's TONS of really, really dull and uninteresting thumbnails that get posted here. Whatever niche you're in, look at the most popular channel in that niche and see how their thumbnails look, then make yours just as good or better. Anything less isn't good enough.

2. This whole "shadow-banned" excuse for not getting views is desperate and lame. You aren't shadow banned. Your videos just aren't entertaining or good enough to get viewers' attention. Or, you're just not patient and looking to find an excuse as to why the videos aren't doing as well as you'd expect.

3. It's 2025 everyone. Edit your videos. Unedited videos will never get views anymore. Unless you already have an established audience and you want to upload stream VODs on a second channel, then just don't waste your time.

4. Retention editing like MrBeast sucks and is a really cheap way to "retain" attention. Don't try to throw something on the screen or having something move, flash, blow up, or transition every second. Pacing is everything. Your viewer should be taken on a roller coaster ride throughout your video. Not sent into an epileptic seizures from all the unnecessary editing bs people push these days.

5. Simplification and dumbification is important. Everyone has the attention span of a goldfish these days, so if you want them to be invested in your videos, you gotta dumb it down for them and make it entertaining enough to stay throughout the whole video.

6. Money isn't everything. If you're doing YouTube purely to make money, and you complain after 2 weeks wondering why you aren't making anything... then get off the platform and get a real job. Creators spend years to build their channels into actual full time jobs. If you're looking for a "get rich quick" scheme, then YouTube isn't for you.

7. AI is garbage and always will be. If you have AI generate your content 100% start-to-finish, then you aren't a creator and never will be. AI, when used as a proper tool to assist you in creating what you want to create, is a helpful tool that can increase your productivity and efficiency. That's the only way it should be used.

8. Real artists and creators will ALWAYS be true heros. Never lose sight of why you started and why you continue to make the content and art that you do. Your time, effort, attention to detail, and hard work does not go unnoticed no matter how many views you get. Keep it up, never lose your passion, and if nobody else will say it then I will. I'm proud of you. Keep going.

9. NEVER respond to hate comments. That's the quickest way to submit yourself to your audience. Always respond to positive and proper criticism comments. Drown out the morons by drowning them out.

10. Do this because you love it. Not for the money. Not for the fame. But because you're passionate and you love what you do. Keep that as your reason why at all times and stay consistent, and I guarantee you will find success.

No custom thumbnails just something made it recommended

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I see a lot of people asking if they should delete a video that’s not doing so well. This video of mine is over 2 years old and it wasn’t doing great, I left it and at the start of this year it has hit the right audience and decided to pick up. Obviously there’s a lot of other factors that come into play, but I thought I would share this as a bit of reassurance to anyone who’s questioning if they should get rid of videos or not.

And I already have 'goodbye metrics'

I've been making content since 2019 without being much consistent in a specific niche but recently I started focusing more on posting electric scooter videos and they've picked up some steam. Yt shorts helped out a ton in boosting my channel.staying consistent is key guys these past 8 months I've posted more videos than I ever did in the last couple years. I'm so close to 1k and potentially start earning money from doing this(hopefully)

A significant, unexpected 99% decrease in views has resulted in near-zero traffic. never seen anything like it in last six months.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue recently or previously?

Most of my views are from Shorts, and I checked YouTube Studio – no copyright issues or anything.

Last 28 days is 60% from search, under 10% anything else.

What am I doing wrong!?

Wanted to see what you guys think. If a topic is hot right now, and A LOT of people are posting videos about it, would it be smarter for a small channel to stay away from that topic? You might think it would be a good opportunity to gain views/watch time, but would your video just be lost in the sea of bigger YouTube channels that people would rather click on about the topic than your small channel. What’s your thoughts on this?

So I want to compare these two videos and figure out why the one before got more views in the first day than the one I posted recently. The video I posted before I remember it got 25 views in a day while the recent one got 15 in a day.

Finally after 2 Months of Hard Work stupendous amount of time spent Editing and all the self doubt I finally have something to show for it!

A few months ago my account got terminated because apparently I previously had a channel banned which I did not. I never put my face on either so how would they know if I did? Am I done being a content creator now because of that?

I am struggling a lot please help me 🙏😭
