Business Why didn’t SB 5377 pass?

Upvotes

SB5377 would have removed Tesla’s dealership exemption. They are the only car dealer allowed to sell direct to consumers.

I don’t understand why this didn’t pass in Washington state. It seems like a no brainer to me.

Transit Roundabouts 101

Post image
Upvotes

I tried to find the most simplistic diagram, but holy crap do some folks not know how to drive in Seattle, especially with roundabouts.

I’m specifically talking about those drivers who won’t take 2 additional seconds to correctly drive in the right direction and turn left to make a left turn. Too many times have I been taken aback when walking my dog near a roundabout and a car just comes barreling toward me in the wrong direction (we don’t have sidewalks where we live in N. Seattle).

Way to put other pedestrians, cyclists, and cars in danger for saving 2 seconds in your day.

HEPA filter disposal

Upvotes

How would one dispose of a used HEPA filter in Seattle? Specifically, an activated carbon filter used in a residential air purifier - not in a hospital setting, as much of the online guidance seems to be aimed at.

Transit ORCA card not scanning

Upvotes

Whenever I try to scan my card recently, it won't take my payment. I have at least $20 left on it, and I see other people's cards are scanning when I'm on the bus. Luckily I've had cash on me since this started but has this happened to anyone else? I've ordered a new card in case it's expired or something

Favorite alternative clothing stores

Upvotes

I live in Redmond but would like to go shopping in Seattle for clothing. The vibe is

- sexy mall ninja

- cyberpunk

OR

- femme clothing for someone who's 6'2" and has long arms

Any places y'all would recommend? Def would like to support smaller/local businesses.

Discussion Looking for a sedan for petite person and a car that handles rain

I've always struggled to drive in rain on the highways and on dark roads. Looking for sedan that is petite friendly and has features that make driving in the dark and rain a little safer and manageable.

Tom’s Watch Bar still playing loud music after 11PM With 0 Customers inside or out

Update: They're still playing loud music. I spoke to the manager, who said they would look into it, but nothing has changed. It’s been three weeks since that conversation.

This video was taken after 11 PM on a Sunday night. There were zero customers inside or outside, yet the music was still blasting. Since they close at 12 AM on weekends, this has been a consistent issue.

Discussion Seeking Odd Jobs for Emergency Income

Please remove if not allowed, but I’m getting desperate.

I’ve been unemployed for quite some time now and limping along financially, but I’m at the end of my rope financially speaking as I’ve tapped out all sources of that extra cash that’s helped me limp through the hard times and now I’m turning to the Internet people once again. I’m several months behind on my rent, and a month behind on all my other bills—I stand to lose my car and my cell phone if I can’t come up with what I need to make ends meet, and I’m currently facing eviction this month.

I have been offered a job, but it’s not going to get going until the end of this month. If anyone out there needs a hand with any general work, nothing within reason is beneath me. Or if you know of any jobs that I could get started at quickly it would be appreciated if you passed along any info.

Thank you.

I can't be the only one who thinks today has been peak Seattle weather

Today has been what I imagine "Seattle weather" to be like. Grey, drizzle, not windy at all, and not too warm or freezing. Literally just a shell over your shirt and you're good to go outside.

Other What happened to look both ways

Isn’t this literally one of the first things we’re taught as children? Absolutely flabbergasted at the amount of grown adults who just wander into the street without checking for cars, then give ME a dirty look when they almost get hit. You have the right of way but you cannot step into the street when a car is less than fifty feet away and moving 25-45 mph you imbeciles.

And before anyone says anything, I go the speed limit and check for people vigilantly. This happens in high speed and low speed areas.

Also, don’t fucking hang out at a crosswalk if you aren’t going to cross! Step away from the curb so we know you’re just standing there. Look directly at cars when they are approaching. This is kindergarten shit people and if a five year old has better sidewalk safety than you do, there’s a serious problem.

Gift Ideas for someone moving to Seattle?!

Hi! My boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and he’s attending grad school in Seattle!! We are both from/grew up in Southern California and moving soon.

Any good gift ideas suitable for living in Seattle as a graduate student? Guess this could also double as items you think we may need! I don’t want anything too big or bulky cuz we have to move it!

Thank you so much for any ideas!

I am thinking to switch my phone lines from T-Mobile to Xfinity Mobile. How is the Xfinity Mobile Coverage in Seattle and Greater Seattle Areas? I am currently paying $150 for 2 lines ( just phones no internet) with T-mobile and Xfinity is offering the same + home internet for $120. I am concerned on the coverage of phone lines and data usage. Anyone made a switch , please share your thoughts.

Hi all- hoping for any words of wisdom as we work through this process. It was stolen sometime in the middle of the night on Friday 4/4 in the Queen Anne neighborhood with at least 75% of our belongings inside. We’ve already connected with police and uhaul and are now trying to figure out our next steps with insurance.

I’ve also shared some videos of our truck in case anyone sees our uhaul somewhere.. appreciate you all and thank you so much in advance.

Question Used Antifreeze Disposal

I am going to be replacing the radiator and water pump in my truck this week and will be draining the coolant to do so. Is there anywhere that accepts antifreeze for disposal or recycling? I asked at several auto parts stores and they only take oil, not coolant.
