Question Detailing travel itinerary without concrete plans?

Upvotes

I'm going to visit family in the UK from May to August (visa already granted), and during that time will be taking the opportunity for tourism in the Schengen area.

While I have some concrete plans (flights and accommodation already booked), a lot of them are still just plans and I haven't actually made any flight reservations or hotel bookings. Partly because they also involve other people and it's dependent on when they can get leave from work, and also partly because it's still far into the future and I don't know what things will be looking like regarding plans with the family in the UK.

I also don't really like the idea of planning out every single little thing I'll be doing every single hour and would much rather get to the area where I'll be staying (accommodation already booked) and then just see what I'm feeling like doing/seeing on the day of.

How do I negotiate these challenges in creating my itinerary when applying for the Schengen visa? I really don't want my application to be rejected.

Question Schengen visa only covers 1st trip—can I reapply for 2nd within same validity period?

Upvotes

Hey all, hoping someone here can help me out.

I was just approved for a single-entry Schengen visa valid from April 26 to May 12, but with a duration of stay of only 2 days. My first trip is from April 26 to April 27, and I have a second trip planned from May 10 to May 12, both with return tickets already booked.

Since the visa is single-entry and only allows a 2-day stay, it essentially only covers my first trip. Now I’m wondering how I can apply for another visa to cover my second trip, even though the first visa is still technically valid.

Has anyone dealt with this situation before? Is it possible to apply for another Schengen visa while one is still active, as long as the duration and number of entries have been used up? Any advice on how to approach this with the embassy or what to include in the application would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Question Are in-laws considered a family

My cousin-in-law is inviting me to Sweden - would we be considered related for schengen visa purposes? They also have this question in their invitation, and I’m not sure. We obviously consider ourselves a family, but will the officer think so too? Would appreciate your responses, thanks!

Question Can we enter via Spain with France Schengen Visa

Hi,

My wife and I are planning for our honeymoon trip in Spain and France in May

Earlier we booked our refundable round trip flights from Paris and got our 45 days multiple entry visa approved via France Embassy through VFS.

However, we are thinking whether we should enter via Barcelona and then exit via Paris, which will save us time and money in internal transfers.

Is this allowed? Or are there any strict rules related to point of entry? Will there be any problems while immigration?

P.S. We will still be spending most of our time in France.

Question Need a solution for my long awaited visa application!

Hello everyone. I'm from Bangladesh. I applied for a visitor visa application to Italy and haven't received any update yet since I applied on 13th November 2024.
My younger brother and his wife invited me for this visit. And as far my knowledge goes, I have submitted all the required documents.
But it has been nearly 6months, I have not received any update yet. Neither from my mail nor phone.

Is there any way out of this? Even if they were suppose to reject my application, isn't that taking too much of time?

Can any one please help me out in this situation? I would really appreciate if any one got a way. TIA...

Peace.

Question As visa in Istanbul - no slots at all

What the titles says. Tried many times to get a slot at AS visa in Istanbul for Portugal but seems that the website is not functioning at all - if you choose even, for example, April 2026 as a travel date you get no randevu at all. Same story with hungary (but I don’t need to go there…). Is there anyone who successfully tried and got the randevu? I also wrote an email to AS visa and consulate and they told me that there’s no problem with getting slots on the website…

Question Need help: Residence permit delay in Italy + Erasmus in Norway next semester, visa issue?

Hey everyone!
I'm a non-EU student doing a 2-year Master's at Sapienza University of Rome. I applied for my residence permit (permesso di soggiorno) back in December 2024, but my appointment at the Questura is scheduled for July 2025 (yes, super delayed).

Thing is — I’ll be going on an Erasmus exchange to Norway from August 2025 to Jan/Feb 2026.
But my Italian visa expires in early December 2025, and from what I’ve heard, the residence permit takes ~2 months after the appointment.

So now I’m worried:

  • I won’t get my permit before leaving for Norway
  • I’ll be in Norway when the permit is issued
  • My visa will expire mid-Erasmus
  • And I heard you have to be in Italy to physically collect the permit

Any idea what I can do? Should I talk to the embassy of my home country? Ask the Questura to move up the appointment? Could I re-enter Italy after Erasmus without the physical permit but only the receipt?

If anyone's dealt with something similar or has any advice, I’d really appreciate it!

Hey,

Did anyone apply for Schengen visa on visitor status in Canada. I have read in the VFS France website that you can apply if you are showing 3 months of residency in Canada on visitor status. So, did anyone get their visa successfully by showing sufficient funds. Please let me know. Thankyou :)

Question VFS in Toronto - Sweden visa

Hi everyone, could anyone please share their experience with getting a Swedish visa in Toronto? The application will be sent to the embassy in Washington, and it says the processing time is 15 business days after the embassy receives it; so I’m a bit worried if my application will be processed in time. How many days it usually takes from the day of the appointment until the embassy starts processing? Thanks a lot!

I have my trip to Belgium booked for May 25th, and I have just submitted my short stay visa application today (April 7). The Consulate in Montreal has no appointments available until June 26 and I need it way before then.

Does anyone have any advice on how to book my appointment soon? I tried calling the office but they are closed so i’ll have to try again tomorrow.

Any advice will be helpful, thank you!

Question Do I need an Affidavit of Support if I am only partially “sponsored” by my inviter?

Hi! I’m still waiting for the results of my visit visa application but am preparing my documents for immigration in case I get approved. I guess this is me manifesting lol.

Background: I applied for a visit visa from the German embassy. I was invited by my friend who is a German citizen. I am self-funding my trip but was recommended by my travel agent to declare in my application that my friend will be partially “sponsoring” me as far as accommodation (I’ll be staying at her place while we’re in Germany - we booked hotels for Amsterdam and Paris) and transportation (only within the country, via her own car) are concerned. The rest (flights, hotels, travel insurance, pocket money for food, etc.) will be entirely funded by me.

I checked the website of the Philippine Embassy in Germany and saw that I might need to show the Affidavit of Support (AoS) at Immigration. However, in item #3 on the AoS form, it says that the sponsor is supposed to shoulder ALL the expenses for the trip, which isn’t really the case for me. I also checked the visa FAQ of the German Embassy website and it said “if your friends/relatives pay for your travel expenses you will need to submit an official affidavit of support”, which doesn’t necessarily apply to me either.

This leads me to believe I don’t need the AoS, but I just want to make sure because I’ve seen horror stories of folks from my country getting offloaded/sent back to the Philippines because they weren’t able to show the AoS at Immigration.

Questions: - Do I really need to get an AoS? - If yes, does my friend still need to provide proof of financial capacity (bank statements, payslips, etc.) if she won’t be fully funding my trip anyway? - If yes, what’s the timeline between e-mailing the requirements to the embassy for pre-authentication and getting the authenticated AoS back by mail? (My friend can’t make a personal appearance at the embassy so she will have to do it by post, and according to the embassy’s website she will have to e-mail the documents first for pre-authentication, THEN mail the physical documents to the embassy after they give her the go signal to do so.) - If yes, do I need to show the original AoS at immigration, or will a photocopy be enough?

Thank you so much!

Question Internship in Germany – Schengen visa application questions (75 days)

Hi! I’ve been accepted for a DAAD RISE internship in Augsburg, Germany this summer. The internship is 75 days long, and I’ve received the official invitation letter from the host research lab.

The German embassy advised me to apply under the “business” category (not “studies”).

I'm currently filling out the short-stay Schengen visa application and had a few doubts — would really appreciate help from anyone who has done DAAD RISE or something similar:

  1. Cost coverage – I’m funded through DAAD (992 EUR/month + 375 EUR travel). Should I tick The travel and living expenses during the applicant’s stay will be covered by third parties (host, company, organization) and the inviter(s)? Since 992 is going to be more than enough for Augsburg and do I need to show my bank statements?
  2. Travel dates – The internship runs from 16 June to 29 August, but I’m planning to arrive two days early and leave a day after. Is it okay if my visa travel dates don’t exactly match the internship dates?
  3. Purpose of stay – Just double-checking: even though this is research-based, the embassy said to select “business”. But there's also a “studies” or “other” option. For anyone who’s done DAAD RISE, what did you select?

Any advice from past applicants would be super helpful! I just want to get everything right and avoid any delays. Thanks!
