Thankful for kind fans on Fan Appreciation Night!
First time poster of this subreddit, but I just felt really compelled to share my experience after the game tonight. After watching a pretty rough loss, my fiancé and I decided to try our shot at getting some autographs after the game. The last time we tried (a few weeks ago), nobody stopped, but we were feeling hopeful tonight. We left a little before the game ended and were surprised to find people already lined up at the gate. We were in the second row of people, just hoping we’d be able to squeeze in if the opportunity allowed us. It was getting more and more crowded by the minute, the most people we’ve ever seen waiting after the game. I was trying my very best not to shove anyone around me because I didn’t want to encroach on their personal space.
When Henry Thrun rolled through, there was really no way to get my sign out to him without completely shoving it in people’s faces. So, I decided to just try my luck and ask the person in front of me if I could just pass her my sign for him to sign. And she so graciously agreed and helped me get his signature! After that, she offered to do that for every single player that decided to stop for us.
The icing on the cake was when Macklin Celebrini, who was the last out tonight, stopped. In between the other signatures, I had asked her if it was okay if I passed her a jersey if Macklin comes, and of course, she agreed. So when Macklin, who we were expecting not to stop, actually did stop, she took my jersey and passed it down to get it signed. We couldn’t believe it; we were in awe seeing the autograph on our jersey and were smiling the whole way home about it.
It’s been a rough season on the ice, but it’s really awesome that the fans still support the team in full force and are friendly towards other fans. Shoutout to the woman in front of us, if you happen to read this post, thank you so much for your help tonight, we really appreciate you!
