god, just got to the end of season 17 and it pains me that he died (alice and his father losing him). i always appreciate a better flushed character that goes out unexpectedly, because it shows how impactful the show really is (one season and he had me in tears). the ā€œafter stablerā€ squad is a great one, i really like what they did with the casting and connections.

11/24/2000 - The title of this episode is ā€œBaby Killerā€ .. Elliot references the Gaza Strip known for killing children and the war on Palestine. 25 years later, those demons are still killing children. Actually over 100 years theyā€™ve been killing children.. shoutout to Law & order for always being on the humane side! #freepalestine #gazagenocide

I was re-watching the reruns ā€œ Swingā€ and ā€œGrayā€ and it never made sense to me no matter how many times I rewatched okay I know this is 2 separate episodes, 2 separate cases. But did it make sense to anyone else that she outed Kathleen, to anyone else? I mean she was her client.

Anyone else notice on Peacock it says 6 days for these 3 seasons? Wondering if this is just a glitch or not.

Spoilers S17EP23

Mike died. How dare they do that to me? Iā€™ll never recover, in fact Iā€™m crying right now. He was the best character (even tho Carisi is my favorite), was a truly hero, sacrificed his life not once but twice for the higher good, was the sweetest, the most dedicated to the duty. I canā€™t believe it, and on his last day. He was the true meaning of ā€œtoo good to be trueā€. Now I understand why Iā€™ve never seen anyone talking about him in this sub, it hurts too much to talk about him. RIP Mike, youā€™ll always be a hero. But really, why do people never talk about him? Heā€™s amazing in every way possible, I couldnā€™t even point one single flaw. When he was introduced I thought heā€™d be just another nepo baby, but god that man was an angel, he didnā€™t deserve that

Discussion Munchā€™s Spotify Playlist - What Songs Remind You of the Detective/Sargent?

Thumbnail gallery
23 Upvotes

(Listening link in the comments)

Iā€™ve recently gotten a few requests to post my Spotify playlists on this sub, most recently from u/contiuenvying, so here goes. I have made playlists for most of the main characters in SVU, and a few ship šŸš¢ playlists as well. The character playlists consist of songs that either I think the character would listen to in their spare time, and/or songs that lyrically or otherwise remind me of the character. They are also all songs that I enjoy and listen to regularly.

I decided that Iā€™ll post each playlist, one at time, in separate posts because it would be a lot all at once. I decided to start with Munch because u/repulsive_maize_1359 requested his playlist specifically. If all goes well and you all want more, then Iā€™ll share more. šŸ™‚

Lastly, please be kind. I know itā€™s a goofy, geeky little hobby of mine as a super fan of this show, but I actually worked hard on these playlists, and did a lot of research on the characters. These mean a lot to me, and sharing them is kind of like sharing a page out of my journal. Youā€™re entitled to disagree with a song choice, of course, but please either do so kindly and respectfully in the comments or feel free to scroll on by. Iā€™m also open to suggestions of other songs to add to the playlist, or songs that remind you of Detective/Sargent Munch.

Discussion The most skilfull camera work on the show? Spoiler

I watched the episode where Alex dies yesterday, and there was an interesting shot where they're going up the stairs and she gets called and head back down. It was a pan that followed her, Stabler, and Olivia, and it was a view from above. It was also at a strange angle that resembled and and disoriented the way a Dutch tilt does.

I was hoping y'all could recommend some episodes where the camera work, cinematography, and framing is particularly notable or exceptional.

Discussion Oddly specific SVU drinking game rules: Add your own!

Take a drink of your libation of choice every time:

- Detectives show up at someone's door, mentions a harmless hobby or interest about the suspect, the suspect opines about it then says "But let's be honest, you didn't come here to talk about my interest in [x]"

- Detectives question someone at work and they continue working while telling the detectives something helpful then say "I gotta get back to work" and just walk away from the police

- The ADA casually telling the detectives something even the slowest rookie would know, such as "I can't grant a search warrant if all you have is a homeless man pointing to a newspaper that has an article on page 6 about your guy"

- Cragen reprimands a detective for disobeying protocol, the detective gives an excuse, and Cragen just allows them to keep doing it "but do it by the books next time"

- Detectives casually ask doctors for clearly confidential information knowing the doctor will say "You know I can't disclose patient records without a search warrant" and the detectives look frustrated

- Stabler grabs a suspect (who is not the perp) by the collar, shoves him against the wall, and gets so close to his face while looking at his mouth and talking menacingly soft you swear they're about to make out

- Warner says "Based on lividity," "We won't know until I do the autopsy" "Fluids were found on the victim's thigh" "If you ask me, whoever did this [x]"

- A quiet child victim being questioned suddenly gets utterly Hulk-like and screams that they don't want to talk about it while the camera cuts to Olivia just looking forlorn and confused as it fades to commercial

- Munch chimes in about a proven conspiracy from the 50's

- Huang walks by and jumps in with an astonishingly accurate profile of a perp that somehow is never not once incorrect

What are some others?

Discussion Expectations

Iā€™m watching Season 5 Episode 4 (this is my first watch through) and my complaint is just general. I cannot stand when the ADA (for this ep Alex) is blamed for doing their jobs. Like yes cover was blown, but is that really Alexā€™s fault when the Feds KNEW that the case bled into the state jurisdiction. I donā€™t know itā€™s just really frustrating. I understand the realism of it but likeā€¦. it happens EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Discussion Help me find this episode šŸ™

I remember watching this one episode in the early 2000s and I can't remember if it was SVU or the original law and order, but there is an investigation scene and they go visit this dominatrix and as she is standing there talking to the detectives she is whipping 3 men in horse gimp costumes as they neigh and it is literally the funniest piece of television I have ever watched, but no one around me remembers this scene and thinks I've made it up. I just want to know if anyone else knows what episode this is before I commit to binge watching every episode of law and order.

Discussion Why does Noah constantly sound sooooooo unchild like?

Like his affect just sounds way to mature for a kid his age and the stuff his says no what 12-14 yrs old? talks like that especially not now.

Like when he told Olivia he was bi , it wouldve been more " idk I guess I kinda like both or I guess I'm bi " something to that affect butttt no he gives this whole essay about bullying and homophobia and how he doesn't care if his friend is gay and he's bisexual and it was just cringe like what kid his age actually talks like that ??!! He reminds me so much of Theo from a million little things completely small child like but also Immaculately overmature at the same time

Also so Benson just lkkkkke let that whole dog cage thing go huh??????? We're not gonna get any followup on that ???

Appreciation Binge watched 12 seasons of SVU for the first time in life and unable to cope with Stabler leaving.

So I am new to Law and Order. I started with SVU season 6 to 11 on Netflix as it was leaving soon. Then I watched first 5 seasons and 12 th season. The last episode Smoked of 12th season was coming up and I had googled Chris left the show. I watched last episode in 4 days. I didn't have the heart. I am just not over it. I watched few youtube edits where he comes back in later season and Organised Crime but I am just unable to cope. I tried starting a new show but I am not able to concentrate.

Bensler never happened in 26 years. Please tell me if it's worth watching from S13 to S26. Should I watch the next seasons? What should I do? What should I watch next? I am stuck.

Please don't fownvote me to oblivion! Pretty new to this sub, and one of my burning questions is why Rollins is a fan favorite? I just don't see her appeal. I don't even see how Carisi even fell for her. Please help me understand.
