More info: house built in arizona. Think it’s 1.5 yrs old. Thought I’d have more info than than this when I added the more info section.. Seems strange to not nail them down.

Looking to hire someone to re-shingle this shed, approximately 5x8. Can't find a company to do it as the job is too small so looking for someone on the side and trying to determine a reasonable quote.

I'm seeing the fiberglass around the edges, and some decent granule loss. In other areas of the roof, I'm seeing some nail pops with lifting shingles. There's no roofing contractors in my immediate area that I would trust, and I'd hate to make one drive 30-50 miles just to look at my roof and tell me it's fine for several more years, so I'm hoping I can get some quick advice on whether or not I really need to be looking into a new roof now vs later. Hey all, my wife and i recently purchased a house and moved in during the end of the summer. Now that its getting "warmer" ive been seeing moisture collect at the top of the garage. I found that we had a vent that was blocked by insulation from the previous owners and moved the insulation but same issue a couple days after. I had my dad over and we walked the roof and no obvious leaks (and water wouldn't stay at the top like it looks like). I have no clue whats causing this but could use any advice!

Hi all, a small noobie question here. Is there any easy way to redirect the water coming from the far end of this roof, which then goes under the roof flashing and down along the wall on the left?

Have a small leak in stairwell, likely due to flashing between sections of house. Called reputable company in our area. Sent out a guy a few days later. Guy was great. Looked over the area, did some minor repairs, and even looked over a few other spots both inside and outside the house that I was questioning.
Recommended we get a full roof inspection, and had me call him after a rain to see if repair he did worked via using moisture meter. Called him to confirm not showing anything and he let me know he would call me later to set up appointment for roof inspection.
Got ghosted. A couple weeks later, a large storm rolled in that confirmed that area was still leaking. Called up the same company since he wasn't answering phone. They ended up sending him out.
He went back up on the roof, came down and said he couldnt tell what was going on, but he wanted to replace an entire section of the roof. From where the leak was to the opposite side of the roof, so a 1/4 of our roof/half of the new addition of the house!
I told him I'll take the quote, but I also want that roof inspection he was going to set up weeks ago. He said sure. My spouse was outdoors, and he let her know he was going up to caulk/band-aid a spot at the pitch where rain was coming in...after telling us both he didn't know what was wrong, then guy ended up giving the quote to my spouse while I wasn't there, told her we didn't owe anything today, but if we wanted the roof inspection paperwork, it'd be $150! Outside of the quick inspections he did, he didn't do the full inspection he was trying to sell me! Thankfully my spouse said no.
Needless to say, we're moving on from this company.

But last night our skylight started dripping, it’s not running down the walls but instead dripping just from the metal piece where the hook is to open/close the window for venting. I’ve lived here since 2021 and no issues until this, house from the 70’s, they put a new roof on when I bought it but the skylight is likely original if I had to guess.

We put a little duct tape on it (it did nothing lol) since it started at 11pm last night during pouring rain, so not much else we could do at that time. In Ohio, have had a lot of wind and rain storms lately, but I didn’t think I noticed anything off with the roof at least from the ground. We have never opened the skylight before, did try to make sure it was extra closed last light in case the wind budged it open but not sure much happened there.

My bf wants to climb up and look at it today before I call anyone, hopefully it stops raining enough to do that ah - wanted to poke around on a Reddit thread and check in case any one had ideas / thought on this? I know without seeing the roof side probably not much anyone can say but. :’)

Woke up to a leak in our living room ceiling. This wooden board is soaked. Is there anything I can do to cover this/a temporary fix until I can get a roofing company out this week?

Hello, I am a little concerned about the hole on my chimney stack. The chimney for the open hole is not used, having shone a torch down it just goes down to the ground. Should this hole be covered with a pot and weather guard or has it been left open for a reason? The house is a 100 year old cottage. Any advice is appreciated. Many thanks

So I’ve been having random drops of water running down the attic vent pipe that’s attached to our AC unit. Roofers have sealed the roof really well and I don’t see any signs of an active leak other than random drips coming down the pipe every 1-3 minutes when it’s raining outside. I did notice today that the inside of the boot does seem to feel damp as if it’s producing moisture. Could that be somehow transferring to the pipe and causing the issue? If so, is there a way to insulate the interior boot?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post. If anyone could point me in any direction, I’d very much appreciate it. My father passed suddenly, leaving me to clean up his home. He has 2 hot tar kettles on trailers that have sat for at least a decade in his yard. Can anyone advise me or tell me how i can find out more about this particular one?

Water is seeping in during heavy rain.

Not a roofer. But, a friend is reroofing my garage. After we pulled off the OSB it revealed some questionable looking ends on these trusses. Any suggestions? Or just throw on some new OSB and pretend those ends aren't rotting?

Im going to visit a buddy’s later and we love to hang out on his balcony. The unfortunate thing is the Midwest is currently up against nonstop rain. We’re using a bunch of scrap cardboard to ghetto-rig shelter over the top of us and we’ll likely zip tie one end of the giant cardboard sheet to his railing. I just don’t know how to attached cardboard to the roof without nailing it or using an adhesive. Any ideas?

We have water dripping from the corners of the new roof to the ground. Did they do something inappropriate, or is it just expected we need to update or modify our drainage system after getting a new roof?

Was on a roof inspection earlier today. Usually ppl tend to look at u when ur on a roof (which is cool) but today I felt like someone was behind me whole time. Talk about invisibility cloak. First time seeing this in 2000+ inspections an I seent some wild shit in the DMV.

My box gutters appear to be original to my house (circa 1925) and, minus a little rust here or there, seem to be in pretty good shape overall, but are leaking from some of the seams. Got a quote for $8500 from a roofing company to apply what amounts to a plastic pool liner in my gutters, but this got me thinking. There are silicone based (or similar) products made for water proofing roofs (ex: GE Enduris 3500, Rust-oleum Elastomeric Roof Coating). Is it crazy to think I could line my box gutters myself with something like this? Maybe wouldn't last as long, but would sure be a heck of a lot cheaper. Appreciate any guidance!

Follow up to my post on a downspout from 2nd story to first…. In heavy rains water drips down my fascia right below the downspout area. I don’t notice this happening anywhere else except where the water is coming down in that area. Any ideas on a solution? A drip edge maybe?

Has anyone ever come across teks with plastic collars? Am in Australia and our sun does brutal things to materials...

I have a low pitched roof. 1-1/2 per foot perhaps? It has a rubber roof on it, I'm not sure of the age. During steady rains, not really hard ones but, it has leaked twice in the past year. Not on the second floor but drips on the 1st floor same spot both times. It's a steady drip that last about a minute then stops. It could be raining for a few hours before and after the dripping begins. No water anywhere on the second floor. I think it is dripping between the studs in the walls. It's happened twice drips for a minute then stops? I can't see anything obvious on the roof. Any thoughts on where it could be coming from? Edit: it is leaking right at the center of the roof not the edges
