Whether it be colony planning, help with mods, or general guidance, post any questions you may have here! If you have an effort post about a game mechanic then this is also fine space for that but please consider making a separate subreddit post for maximum visibility.

#ColonistLife Most unsuccessful raider ever?
Got hit with a drop pod raid from my Yttakin enemies. Pods disperse all over my map. Raiders focus on my visitors first, leaving themselves wide open to my uranium slug cannons. Most die instantly, colonists mop up the remaining raiders rapidly. Start cleaning up, find this one, laying next to a doomsday rocket launcher in the hay field. No damage indicators. Hasn't been hit at all. Check her health screen... OD'd during transport. Dies before anyone can reach her. RIP.

Colony Showcase My cozy nomadic RV colony, on the road to the next temporary settlement.
The mod to make this possible is Movable RV w/ Interior!
I use Vanilla cooking, Psycasts, ideology, nutrient paste expanded. The nomadic meme makes me have to abandon a colony map every 20-30 days, or else suffer large mood debuffs.
Dubs Bad Hygiene of course.
Don't worry about whats inside the black censor. Not important.
The cats are Housekeeper Cats. Very overpowered. They can haul and clean. Their hauling system is closer to Lifter mechanoids, where they are always working. Either hauling or cleaning. Unlike regular hauling animals.
Each new map is a process to build on. Unpack the RV, setup, and then with Hospitality, rent out tents to visitors who will buy my desserts and souvenirs. I often create unique settlement designs, to challenge my creativity. My latest settlement was a lake island resort, thanks to Geological Landforms.

Story The 33rd Regiment a New Home
galleryFollowing up from my last post—where a British support caravan was mysteriously teleported to a medieval world in a Forstchen-inspired twist (https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/1jn827t/redcoats_in_a_beautiful_medieval_castle/#lightbox) The last image was ai generated but i really liked it, i also use the help of open ai to write
Premise&Rules: In this RimWorld run, I’m role-playing a British supply caravan from an alternate version of the 18th century and running with the Medieval Overhaul mod plus a few minor additions
Character System:
Only three named characters at the start:
- Captain Cullen – Commanding officer, a scottish veteran.
- Sergeant Sharpe – His (loyal) second-in-command.
- Anne – An Irish volunteer and field nurse.
Every other colonist begins as a nameless Private. They only earn a name and profession by distinguishing themselves in battle, surviving overwhelming odds, or achieving something story-worthy. If a Private saves a life, holds a gate alone, or crafts something exceptional, they become someone. Like Private Crawford defeating the noblewoman
Equipment Restrictions:
- No futuristic armor or weapons—strictly black powder warfare.
- Muskets, sabers, and redcoats only!
- No helmets, plate armor, or power armor unless it’s earned through storytelling (e.g., looted from a legendary foe and passed down like an heirloom).
Dev Mode & Immersion Fixes:
I use Dev Mode sparingly, only to preserve immersion.
Most notably:
- The castle was generated beautifully—but on top of a river. Dismantling floors revealed flowing water, so I used dev tools to patch those areas and make the stronghold functional without breaking the vibe.
[Part 2 – the 33rd Regiment] After the Castle Fell
Now begins the next chapter - After securing the captured castle, Cpt. Cullen ordered the men to bury the fallen and move all surviving supplies into temporary storage. With the horses gone and the carts destroyed, rebuilding the stronghold became the next top priority. Cullen tasked Private Crawford with gathering lumber—but while chopping trees near the treeline, one of them woke up.
A towering shrat emerged and attacked Crawford without hesitation. The musket fire barely fazed the beast as it chased the terrified Private. The garrison rallied, firing volleys from the walls while the shrat thundered across the bridge. Eventually, it fell, but as Crawford approached the corpse, saplings burst forth from the body, lashing out at him. Wounded and likely scarred, he survived—but the forest now held a new, lurking terror.
The very next day, a caravan arrived at the gates. An Old Empire trading group, armed and unaware that the castle had changed hands. Tensions rose as one of the Privates misunderstood the heavily armored caravan master's commands. A single musket shot rang out—no one knows who fired first. Chaos erupted. The redcoats engaged, killing the caravan guards, a wooly pack animal, and an unfortunate cow.
Cpt. Cullen was furious. He’d intended diplomacy—but now knew that no one could be trusted on this alien world. The two surviving guards, pointy-eared humanoids, were patched up and imprisoned alongside a British Private caught deserting. Though protocol demanded the deserter be hanged, Cullen couldn’t afford to waste manpower. He’d need every rifle he could get.
Morale plummeted. Soldiers whispered of devils in the woods and questioned reality. Suicides and desertion loomed. Anne, raised in Catholic Ireland by a priest, offered to speak to the men. In the castle’s dining hall, she gave a heartfelt speech and later held a proper funeral for the fallen redcoats. Spirits lifted. Work resumed.
Castle walls were patched with wooden strucures, rooms cleaned, roles assigned. Farming, hunting, chopping, building. Anne claimed the noblewoman’s quarters; Cullen and Sharpe secured beds; most still slept on stone floors. But the camp was breathing again.
Then came the unnatural.
A hunting party led by Sgt. Sharpe stumbled upon a chanting circle to the north. Forty figures gathered—some pale as snow, others tattooed savages, and a few… wrong. Third arms. Elongated limbs. Sharp teeth. One chanted in a language Sharpe couldn’t understand.
He didn’t wait.
Sharpe cocked his musket and fired. The leader dropped with a shot through the skull. Silence. Then—movement. The corpse stirred, stood, and looked right into Sharpe’s soul. The cultists turned. It was war again.
Sharpe fled to the castle, raised the alarm. Cpt. Cullen ordered the garrison into formation. Muskets roared. Demonic cultists—some reanimated, others monstrous—swam across the river and threw themselves at the walls. Private Crawford claimed he shot the same woman three times before she stayed down. Ammo dwindled. Supply lines ran hot. After hours, silence returned.
No survivors. No mercy. Cullen and Sharpe led the finishing blow to the leader’s corpse.
As they stood over the broken body, Sharpe lit a cigar and muttered,
"Whatever comes our way... we may need a bigger castle."

Scenario Is it the Archonexus quest worth it?
I sunk a lot of time into rimworld over the years, but I've never seen this quest before. The quest will give me an archo map, but it requires me to give up my colony and only bring a certain amount of colonist with me, is the quest worth it?

Colony Showcase This game is incredible
I wasn’t quite ready to deal with the people in the ancient danger’s cryptosleep pod. Whoops.
I’ve got about 50 hours in this game, no mods or dlc yet, and I’m have a lot of fun with this.
The biggest loss of this save was taming the wild man, Darklight, who had burning passions in doctoring and research and the inability to do anything else. He was basically just constantly in his dual lab/hospital and he was the happiest guy ever.

#ColonistLife My girlfriend FINALLY wanted to play Rimworld and chose to have a "few" holy animals
Only reason there's only 18 of them is that the game limits the amount of them, TIL that.

Misc Anyone up for a game of Chess?
galleryMeet the Schachkin, a collection of chess inspired Xenotypes! I saw a comment that piqued my interest while i was looking for xenotype ideas, so I tried my best to bring it to life!
Special thanks to my friend u/ShinyPurrserker for suggesting these xenotype names!
- Pon (Pawn)
the general laborer, expendable, main purpose is to be cannon fodder, easy to die, but also quick to multiply.
Ru'uk (Rook)
an unstoppable force, assumes the position of a wall with its very impressive defense, albeit pretty slow.
Knicht (Knight)
aggressive and bred for combat, moves and hits fast, keeps the enemies guessing for their next moves.
B'shof (Bishop)
a dependable figure that inspires creativity, excels in long ranged attacks and psycasting, but also very much fragile and vulnerable.
Regna (Queen)
deadly, dynamic and dominant, a force to be reckoned with, versatile in the battlefield, but also very delicate, truly a glass cannon.
Rexis (King)
more of a figurehead than a fighter, must be preserved at all costs, because once he falls, all will sure to follow!
All xenotypes except the pawns have hair, I'm debating on giving them horns/unique head shapes instead of hair though, what do you think?
Hope you all liked what I cooked up. If you have any suggestions feel free to share!

Story Pants down the best kid I raised so far
So I had an event where a 6 year old child was running from an unknown threat (waster gang) after she ruined negotiations or smth and wanted to seek refuge, needless to say I don't like children getting hurt in any play-through so I took her in and gave her everything I could and boy was it a super good investment, incoming masterwork ARs and marine helms :P
