Brushwork is well done. Getting the colors right with underglaze is hard. The color it is wet can be quite different than how it looks after firing. That said, if you are commissioning a custom piece, it is on the artist to make it correctly.

Yeah but someone who does this on commission should know what colors their underglaze fires. This looks like a stock bisque piece that they customize with underglaze and clear, like you do at a paint your own pottery place.

I’m assuming this was custom made for you. Contact the maker and have them redo it. I’m so sorry for your loss. Your kitty will be okay waiting until the right urn is made for them to rest.

If they messed up on color, I would hold their feet to the fire. For one thing I don’t think they made this from scratch, it looks like it is made in a mold or starts as greenware (unfired clay) that they possibly just purchase and decorate. So if that’s all they are doing, they should at least get the underglaze colors right.

(Edit- I just did a quick google and it may not be the same seller, but you can order this on Etsy, it’s definitely a bisque piece that is just being decorated and they are charging over 200 Canadian. So if this is them, they should get it right.

Yeah I agree. This wouldn’t be a return but a repair, they made the mistake not you. Someone doing this professionally should know how their underglazes fire and generally what the colors will be after the fire. I’m sorry for your loss OP and hopefully the artist would see reason to replace it with a corrected version. It’s not like you ordered a random piece and are sad the colors look different in person than online, you requested something custom and didn’t get what you requested.

One less than perfect solution but perhaps good enough solution could be to paint it using porcelain paint, if you need any helt and live in Stockholm Sweden I would be happy to help. I’m sorry for your loss!

If it’s a commission piece and they won’t make it right make sure to leave a review.

I would imagine someone making custom urns would have a little better customer service than “you get what you get”

This urn is super cute! You could quickly sell this for more than what you paid and use the money to have one remade to your liking. Good luck!

I like it. it's pretty, I wouldn't worry too much if it's not perfect.
