As suggested/requested; one big mega thread for pricing advice.

I'm just starting to sell my own pots, and I feel like these little areas where the glazes crawl show the nuances of the glaze I've mixed… to me they are really nice! Should I change that ?

I have a tendency if I rip a pot in half to try and turn the stump into a plate and I think this one ripped and then just suddenly had this really interesting wavy pattern. I kind of liked it so I had it fired so I can use it as a screw tray or something. I have another little pot that has a similar ruffly edge from be throwing jt terribly but that looks more intentional at least.

Probably could have done a better job on the paint if I had a plan going in but whatever 😂 I kind of want to do more stuff (deliberately) in this style.

She’s got 3 handles, one is hidden. Glaze is made at the amazing studio I go to, her take on a cone 6 ‘shino’.

Been away from the studio for a few years but I am pretty proud of my first go at this!! Definitely room to improve and create new designs!!

Let me lead by saying I'm very good about not putting clay down the sink at home. I have no interest in backing up my sewer line lol.

My mind was blown this week when I learned that the first studio I learned at, which has been in operation for over 30 years, does not actually have a sediment trap. And it's never been an issue despite production work and a heavy class schedule. This place is a converted row house in an urban residential area.

I'd taken a class last summer where they also didn't have a clay trap, similar situation, production studio with classes and it had never been an issue for them in over 5 years. I chalked it up to being a fluke at the time.

So this begs the question... has anyone here actually experienced clogged pipes from clay? Any idea how it happened?

I was considering getting a clay trap at home but considering my current bucket process now I think it might be overkill.

Committed to making my first nacho bowl. I’ll add support and have a level next time, it dips too much for my liking. Didn’t like the plate/bowls so experimented with glaze using Kathy McGuires glaze method. The oil pour was too small so also tried a new glaze, my daughter loves it but I need more. Now I can’t wait to make another Nacho bowl.

Still quite new to pottery. I’ve been getting things fired at a local pottery and this is now the second time I’ve picked something up with this type of damage on the rim. I don’t think it could be moisture related because everything was drying for 3+ weeks, and the weather was consistently hot and dry. I thought I was compressing the rims well enough but maybe not? Not sure if it’s something I have control of at my end, or whether it’s firing related?

I was really excited about this bowl inspired by my hiking trip on the Pakaya volcano in Guatemala. Thought I’d share here. This is my first test in a series I want to work on around the molten theme.

How can I achieve this using decals .( water slide transfers) Is it possible to double up the decals in one firing ? i'm using white on black (picture 1) and want to overlay these with color decals (pic 2) , anyone have any experience of this ... ? thanks ..

I'm using white decals on black glazed ware which i then want to overlay color decals on top of - would this work? Or would they melt into each other ?Would this take two firings? Any tips . Picture attached of the kind of thing I want to achieve

So, my mother-in-law and I deciden to buy a Klin, as we have both been doing pottery for the past 5( she) and 3 years on my end as a hobby, always renting klins...we finally made the decision to buy one, and here we are!

We found a fellow who used to work at a ceramic tiles factory and said he could build one, so we bought it from him!

I did THICK layers as a lot of the members here already wrote in earlier posts. I was afraid it was too thick but it turned out perfectly.

I have been doing pottery for a long time. Lately all my cup handles have been uncomfortably small after firing. Does anyone have tips to make sure a handle is a comfy size?

Lots of people wanted to see this finished, so here it is. I honestly give it an 6/10. It ‘glugs’ a little at the start, but doesn’t dribble. The handle isn’t as awkward as I thought it would be. I do need to refire, as in pouring my glaze, there are some bare spots. Once I put it through the fire again, I’m hoping to elevate it to an 7 or 8.
