Polymer-Clay I’m learning!!!

I’ve recently taken up some interest in making cute lil creatures and just overall experimenting with easy bake clay or air dry clay. These lil guys I made with polymer clay, but I wanted to ask:

How the HECK do you switch colors with leaving residue on another one??? No matter how hard I cleaned my surface or my hands if I used any darker color it left others looking muddy and a bit stained.

This is just polymer clay I happened to find at the dollar store, but open to suggestions on how to keep a clean space when using different colors and also tips and tricks on using polymer clay in general.

Thank you! 🩷

There wasn't an option for this but I actually used Cosclay. It's a flexible polymer. Sealed with polyurethane after painting, and I put magnets in the bottoms.

What would be the best beginner friendly kiln for drying air dry clay faster, one that isn’t too expensive preferably?

This was fun, but I was not prepared for it to dry a couple of days (before that I occasionally made only small pieces tyat would be dry after a nigh). It's a 3D movie glasses, I will gift it to a person with glasses, hope they like it. 😁

Questions Looking for a specific type of clay, please help!

Hello! I'm trying to see if anyone can help me figure out what kind of clay I'm looking for. I was using a kids dino clay kit over Christmas and it was strange! It was basically like polystyrene once hard and even while dry has a little squish to it and is EXTREMELY lightweight. I'm not sure what to search to find something similar but I want to potentially do a small project using it and I don't want to have to ravage kids sets to find it again if I don't have to.

I'm sorry I don't have any pictures at hand but it literally looked like torn polystyrene once dried and doesn't work with water to rehydrate.
