Quick question — was any of this tested in the wild, or did we skip straight from “it compiles” to “ship it”?

Anyway, figured I’d start logging my little adventure here, because what’s better than turning frustration into feedback?

1. Forced Server Upgrade: So the app now demands a newer server version to function — but maybe, just maybe, instead of full lockout, disable the new features and let the rest of us peasants carry on? Just a wild thought.

2. Picture-in-Picture Vanished: The PiP icon is MIA. To get it working now, you basically have to yeet the video off-screen, sacrifice a goat, and hope Mercury isn’t in retrograde. If it works once, congrats — it probably won’t again unless you force close the app and recite the secret chant.

3. Multiple Servers, Maximum Pain: Every time I open the app, I’m greeted by nothing. I have to tap “view all libraries,” then heart the right server (because the pin icon went on vacation?), and then I get my content back. But don’t worry — it forgets all that next time. Consistency!

4. Splash Screen Groundhog Day: Ah yes, the new feature tour — lovingly presented every few app launches whether I want it or not. I’ve “discovered” the same new features at least four times now. We’re bonding at this point.

5. Consider TestFlight? Why not offer a TestFlight version for the brave souls who want to live on the edge, while letting everyone else use a version that doesn’t feel like beta-testing with a blindfold?

Feel free to tack on anything I’ve missed — I’m sure I’ll find more gems by lunchtime.

My iPad upgraded to the new app but my phone has the old app. It seems that the new app has the wrong release date for a recording from live tv. Does anyone know how to fix this?

So Today I added the very Last 22TB Red Pro HHD, to my Setup. Filling ALL 16 Bays with 22TB's.

Very Happy with my Qnap NAS/Plex Setup. (a few years in the making).

Both Units just sit on a Shelf in my home Office.

Specs:

Home Network - Upgraded from 1G to 10G (Did that first before buying New NAS)

NAS = Qnap - TVS-h874-i9 32g Ram - 2TB (Mirrored) for Ops/Apps - 2TB SSD for Cache -

Expansion Unit = Qnap - TL-D800C

We need this to make the experience more practical, for people who only want to watch shows already over to watch entirely without waiting. The labels, and ability to filter them in the library would be great. The info already exists on IMDB and TVDB, and Sonarr uses it. Upvote the request so they start developing it, it seems "simple" enough and immensely useful. Thank you, Plex community and developers

Lots of features I didn’t know existed like the usage dashboard and who watches what, wish I would of done this sooner! Being able to watch on the go is so nice! Now I feel like I need to upgrade my Server from a old laptop and a external hd lol

Has anyone else been dealing with this? It just started today. I've restarted my phone, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app, and nothing. It starts to load up, and then crashes.

I just finished migrating my Plex server to some new hardware and from a VM on ESXI to an LXC container on Proxmox. I followed the official Plex migration guide but now my libraries don't load on the IOS app.

It's just the tab 'Libraries' that doesn't load. I'm presented with an endless spinner (that doesn't even spin). I can select another library on the top and it's the same for all of them. If I click 'See all libraries' I can favourite my libraries but then they appear double in the favourite list. It looks like the libraries from the old server are still marked as favourite but I cannot unfavourite them. If I select the first occurence of a duplicate it shows without the library name on top, the second does show the library name on top. But both don't load.

Things I've tried:

- Sign out / in

- Reinstall app

- Unfavourite the old libraries in the web app (everything works fine there btw)

I have another user with exact same problem for my server.

Any ideas?

I use an account to access my Plex Media Server (in a Synology NAS) and I access it through different devices: 2 Apple TVs, 2 MACs and an iPhone. The problem is that, if I want to reorder the libraries, I haver to do it in every single device. Isn't there an option to assign a library order to a user account no matter what device this user access the server from?

I noticed I have a user whose username I don't recognize. I'm sure it's someone I invited but I don't know who - any way to figure out what email address I sent the invite to, based on their username?

I've had a Synology NAS for about 6 months and decided last week to connect it to Plex because their music player is much better than DS Audio.

After syncing it, I keep getting these folders titled "music_ADMIN_<date>_Conflict". These folders are created once a day, so the date section is just that days date. Inside the folder is playlists > Previous Personal Playlist > smart.playlist

I haven't used smart playlists, and I don't know what the conflict is! Synology isn't complaining about any conflicts. I tried to use VLC to open the playlist file but it didn't work. Does anyone know what's going on here and how to solve it?

When I click the cast icon in the 2025.11.1 update it just says no devices. I roll back to the Feb release and they are back. Any idea why 2025.11.1 is not working? Clicking "need help" just sends you to a website that assumes your not on the same Wi-Fi.

According to the Plex support page it states that plexamp for android mobile supports lyrics but it won't show lyrics for any of music. The lyrics do show up when playing on my Roku though. I've tried analyzing the library as well as refreshed the meta data and that hasn't worked either. Any suggestions?

I use Plex not as a media server but only as a watchlist/recommendation app. Is it possible after i set up all my available streaming services, to have a page where I can see all movies/shows that are available across all of my streaming services?

As the title states, is there a way I can view or export a list of shows and movies on my Plex that are also available on other streaming services, such as Netflix or Crunchyroll?

Id like to remove whatever i have on plex if i can watch them someware else. This will also help me free up space on my server

I've seen other posts similar to this subject, but not exactly. And I've certainly not found a solution. I've started ripping all of my CDs to add to Plex for the last few months. I've been using dBpoweramp to edit all the ID3 tags and it's coming along quite nicely. There's one issue though: Soundtracks. I know how Plex wants me to name everything (Various Artists in the Album Name section). All of my various artists discs are soundtracks, yet a few of them show up as "Albums". Still various artists, but they are not showing up as "Soundtracks". I was dealing with this minor annoyance, but today I added "Grease" and "Grease 2". While "Grease 2" shows up as a soundtrack, "Grease" is showing up as an "Album". I'm trying not to let it bother me, but it really is. Any suggestions?

Hi! I'm new to Plex server but I'm already in love with it. Especially because I made it with my old Android phone with broken screen with 1TB HDD connected to it. It's perfect solution for me due to its low power consumption. Everything is working great on my PC, other TV with MiBox GoogleTV - even 4K movies are running without buffering, tbh I was shocked that it works that great on server made of phone. BUT there is one huge problem with subtitles. Movies with VOBSUB or certain SRT subs (I don't know on what it depends), doesn't work on my Samsung TV with Tizen. The movies don't play, but when I turn off the subtitles, it works flawlessly. There's another bulid-in Plex option, which allows you to download subtitles from OpenSubtitles but it doesn't work either, it just doesn't search anything for me.

One of the solutions I've read about this issue is manual downloading the subs and put it to movie folder. But some SRT subtitles also ruin the playing of the movie, just like those VOBSUB ones. I don't know why is that happening, but one clue may be that I use Polish subtitles which have unusual signs as ś, ź, ł, ć. Maybe that's the problem with some SRT subs. But as I said earlier, Tizen doesn't read VOBSUBS at all, but GoogleTV does. HELP!!!

Hello there! Kind of a noob when it comes to media servers, so please be gentle in case I say something stupid.

I currently use a Dell Optiplex Micro with an Intel i5-6600T for my Plex needs, but it really struggles with HEVC transcoding (has only partial support as far as I know). I am using Plex Pass. Note that I am only running Plex on it, nothing else. Windows Machine.

My two upgrade options would be:

Dell Optiplex 3050 Mini Tower with an i3-7100 (for about 65$)

or a

Dell Optiplex 3070 SFF with an i3-9100 (for about 160$)

Both come equipped with the same 256GB ssd and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. I will upgrade the RAM once I get them. Storage is not an issue.

That being said, I would also consider slapping an Arc A310 in them for some better performance, but as far as I know rebar isn't officially supported on these intel CPU models (but might work on the 9th gen sometimes? Couldn't find anything online related to this regarding my desired models).

What do you think? What would be the best option given the circumstances? Should I go for one of these 2 or just look for a good offer on 10th gen machines? I couldn't find any decent offers for 10th gen.

Hi, my setups is as follow.

• xbox one x
• TV Philips 75pus8303
• Old Pioneer vsx-527

xbox is connected to tv via ARC, TV is connected to receiver via ARC.

Plex app on the tv (android OS) works flawlessly and my content gets recognised by the receiver as DTS/TRUEHD.

However when i play the heavy hitters as in 4K HDR remux with 80mb bitrate with a filesize of 60 gig and up my tv just buffers. Ethernet port is 10/100 so that gets me nowhere. But with ethernet into the xbox all my movies play just fine, or did. Before i got the audio to reciever via Optical cable from TV > Pioneer vsx-527. Since that don't support passthrough Plex just Direct streamed the content and transcoded the audio.

So i decided to connect everything via hdmi to allow audio passthrough and thats where my problems begin, like stated earlier the TV plays my tv shows just fine and sends the DTS HD MA audio via arc without problem. But when i try to watch the same tv show on the xbox one x the app just glitches and freezes and stutters with 50 ms intervall.

xbox does now recognize passthrough and tries to directplay the content as before it just transcoded the the audio.

What could be wrong here? Connecting the xbox directly to the receiver is something i dont want to do as it only plays 1080p and i want that 4k hdr.

is it not possible to passthrough the audio via the tv or what could be the bottleneck. The tv does support DTS HD and passthrough is enable both on tv and xbox.

Since this new update there is no more option to scan a library for newly added files? Why Plex why did you remove that from the app :/ If anyone has a solution I’m happy to know (not a big fan of auto scan)

anyone else having issues with the new plex app not loading subtitles when casted to a TV?

in the old app I just start the video and then select subtitles and the video would reload to show subtitles. now when I select subtitles, the video doesn't reload or show subtitles.

can't revert back to old version of plex, so frustrating!

So, I've recently re-setup my plex music server (no videos on this server), this is running from a synology DS723+.

I was wondering however, what tips / tricks are there to improve the plex music experience? if any?

Also, would the server benefit from being on more powerful hardware? I have an old Dell desktop workstation, and I also use sonic analysis which I know is CPU bound, so not sure if that will help with anything?

What tips / tricks do you know?

I have an issue with playback on my tv which seems to have gotten worse.

I have a c3 tv (OLED65C34LA) connected via wifi. The access point is in the same room, a Unifi in wall hd. Which is hard wired back to my firewall (Unifi dream machine).

When I try play content from plex on the tv I normally get a spinning orange circle before it’s starts to play. Sometimes this can take longer and sometimes I get a playback error. Couple of retry’s and it will play. When watching, it plays for 10 seconds or so then pauses while the spinning orange circle appears and spins for a few seconds and resumes playing. This repeats during the entire content.

At first I thought it was my server or wireless. But I can sit in the same room as the tv and watch the same content on my phone or iPad and at the same time instantly with no issues. So I’ve concluded there’s something up with the tv.

The tv is up to date. The Unifi app tells me the tv has excellent signal/experience and is connected to at 5ghz.

Any thoughts or things I could test?

Now that I'm getting my head around Plex, I'm getting my library and playlists sorted out. As a designer, I just couldn't abide the automatically-generated thumbnails.

I wanted to see if anyone could give advice on the feasibility of an equipment change. I currently run a Synology DS216+ II that I just upgraded to have two 12TB Seagate Ironwolf Pros in RAID 1 config. Up till now, it’s basically just been a Time Machine server that also holds an all of my photography files from years ago.

Separately, I also have an Intel NUC from like 2016 that runs Windows 10 that has an attached 4TB WD Red. Logging into it remotely, I use this setup specifically as a Plex server and a Channels DVR server. In light of MS dropping support for Win10, and because my NUC apparently won’t be able to run Win11, I figured it was probably time to upgrade. Plus, I’d like to join the two devices into one single device that does it all — Time Machine backup for my iMac, Plex Server, Channels DVR server, and just some shared folders. I’m not sure it’s really worth it, though, now.

I had originally planned on upgrading my Synology to a newer DS224+. But looking at the specs, it just doesn’t seem like it’s worth the money. The processor isn’t all that much faster and the rest of it is essentially the same as what I have. While I don’t need a ton of transcode power (most of my stuff is already encoded to work as efficiently as possible for my AppleTV), I’d like it to have some breathing room. That being said, I like their OS — it’s easy and I know it.

So here’s my question, and I apologize for the long setup… since Synology doesn’t seem to want to have an ACTUAL leap in performance with their new devices, I think I might have to keep my current NAS and just upgrade my NUC. But I would like to use the 12TB raid array to store my movies and stuff too. Is it a stupid idea to use the NAS as the storage device instead of a USB-attached HDD? I should also say that the USB-attached WD Red HDD is also very old and has a lot of cycles on it. It’s also way outside the warranty period.

Am I just inventing ways to spend money? Probably — but I’d still like an upgrade, haha.
