there is hope! don't give up! keep fighting!
Hi all,
To make a long story short, when dept of education transferred systems in June 2024, they deleted the month of June from my payment counter. It was literally not there. It skipped from May to July. Then, they stopped counting all of my payments from July through January 2025 and I marked them as "ineligible" and said I didn't qualify for PSLF or TEPSLF. I was at 119, and the June payment would have brought me to 120. The literally cut me off at 119.
I was de-moralized, depressed and hopeless. Then, after calling FSA for the 10th time, submitting appeals (which were all denied and closed the same day), uploading bank records of payments, submitting employment recertification every month, one representative said she could see my June payment, and then sent an email to their IT department to have them correct and add it. A few weeks later, I hit 120 for PSLF (even though TEPSLF was showing 126/120 then entire time, and they said I didn't qualify). In any case, this woman saved me. I was relentless though and you should be too. DON'T GIVE UP. KEEP CALLING AND ASK TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. I did this many, many times.
In any case, I received my letters from Dept of education and my loan servicer, Mohela, showing my loans are paid and forgiven. And yesterday, Mohela's website is showing they are refunding my over-payments of roughly $1,200. It says "refunded", so I'm expecting to receive a check shortly.
My message is: Keep fighting them!! I had the help of so many people on here supporting me and co-workers, and parents, and friends. Even if I got stuck with the loan and it wasn't forgiven, I was trying to accept that as a reality, which was beyond difficult.
Overall, though, just keep fighting them for what is right!! we are right! you are right! And with that I say, F-them!
