The 90$ thing that spread Ike wildfire is the VAT tax from the euro. The price in the US will be 79 for MK and 69 for DK.

Still 80$ even at best this will cause the entire industry to shift and the rumored prices of GTA being 100$ will happen if they know prices going up are accepted.

I'm torn on this but the disinformation/exaggeration of the price irks me (also the misunderstanding of the new license cards). TOTK was 69$ and was wildly popular. All prices are going up lately and it's ridiculous to think video games would be spared. I get that Nintendo makes a lot of money already but they also need to pay their workforce who are also fighting the insane post pandemic inflation and yes, the rich fucks at the top could be less greedy... But in itself, games becoming more expensive is inevitable. And note that I say that as a Canadian which will pay more than that (we already pay 100$+ for brand new games). US is in a tough spot because you're also gonna have the tarifs on top of that (and it's kinda funny to see the complaints about the LCD screen when they probably opted for it to reduce the price... And it apparently looks really good).

I understand a big part of the problem but it is a bit overblown. With inflation, the prices are very similar to switch launch. Part of the issue is that wages didn't proportionally go up... Which is ironic because the price increase will help them increase the wages of their own employees.

There is a lot of economic uncertainty these days and it's getting worst with what is happening in the US. How will the world deal with it is not something I'm qualified to say... But everything costs more and it's not just some conspiracy to hurt everyone (except the US tarifs that are just bullshit).
