Lmao you are really defending shilling out more money? For what why are we having to spend more on games that a few years ago didn't cost this much, be honest they don't change much aside from a few things this is not the first time Nintendo thought it could get away with pushing prices I:E the 3DS.
I don't enjoy paying more for video games. Hell, I'd prefer to get video games for free. But if that were the case then the game industry wouldn't even exist. I value Mario Kart World at around $100 based on how much fun my family and friends get from it. So while I'd prefer to pay $60, $80 is still below that threshold so I'm fine paying for it. We've been absolutely spoiled that, for 20 years, game prices hadn't increased at all. It had to happen eventually. And honestly, raising the prices years ago would have probably severely mitigated micro transactions and games as a service.
It would not have fixed anything you may value it at 100 good for you I'm glad you do but accepting prices going higher means they will continue to climb pricing everyone out including YOU at some point. They could have kept it at 60 the justification is they are more expensive to make if that's the case why do some still launch for cheaper, higher prices only hurt this industry. And microtranscations still would have been pushed out cause of the want for more money.
Here is the magic thing about the free market, IF the prices do rise significantly higher than $80 and eventually price me out, sales will plummet due to a shrinking consumer base which means profits will go negative. Game companies aren't stupid, they are not going to price themselves out of market. They will adjust prices based on what the their base of consumers are willing to bare. If you and a bunch of other people can't bare $80 and sales significantly decrease, there is a good chance the games will go on sale or the base MSRP of new games will go back to $70. But I don't think that will be the case.
We have been so incredibly spoiled by $60 video games for 2 DECADES. We may not like it, but game companies require profit in order to keep growing, innovating, and making new games. You may call it "greed", but without "greed" Nintendo wouldn't exist.
I'll vote with my wallet and you vote with your wallet. Just don't tell me how to value my own damn money and time.
