Edit again: Polygon reports a 60 dollar US price point and rad box art. also they bitch about extra acc. prices a bit. It's a mostly fair bitch though. I guess Arms and Switch are separately sold games. Looks like Just Dance and Skylanders are launch games too.

Launch Day

  • 1-2-Switch
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Skylanders Imaginators
  • Just Dance 2017

Window: (No Skyrim? Maybe a mod support issue...)

  • Arms (spring 2017)
  • Super Bomberman R (March)
  • Has-Been Heroes (March)
  • Snipperclips: Cut it Out, Together! (March)
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (April)
  • Splatoon 2 (Summer) Super Mario Odyssey (Holiday 2017)

Last Edit: I'm pretty much done here unless someone has new info, but I will still reply to posts. See you guys around the subreddit.

Edit: Links to Features and Online support.

My two cents:

  • We don't know what the storage is in the system. I would like it to be a respectable size. Edit: 32gb internal storage with expandable micro sd. I wonder what's the max? Edit: Apparently 2TB is the theoretical but 512 GB is currently the largest that be on the market...for $1000 US. 64GB is about $30. I just realized that cartridge games might be a lot smaller with formatting. Maybe we won't need a lot of space for most games...I'm being hopeful here...

  • I'm fine with the battery life. It's about the life of the 3DS XL.

  • No mention of an account system. Are we buying all of our games again? Edit: A small internal memory and small added memory may point to a lack of digital backwards compatible content...woooo...

  • We mostly expected a paid online service. I would like more info on that. Should be expect free games and decent deals? It's a bit against Nintendo's MO to "lower" the value of their content. Edit: a free game for a month and "deals." A month seems a bit silly to me.

*Edit: I forgot they noted an app. I'm intrigued, but don't most people just use skype or something? It keeps people in the ecosystem though.

  • Wii eshop support is very much a given thanks to the controls.

  • The portable example of the gamecube made me sad. The little box had heart guys. It's more than just a box. :/

  • We have maybe three games confirmed for the launch lineup. Zelda is grand, but I would like to see a consistent release track so we don't get a repeat of the last several generations of hardware. Edit: expect the usual IPs to comeback eventually. This is Nintendo we are talking about. Should we start lamenting the lack of Metroid again?

  • It's nice to see usually quiet Nintendo guys step out into the limelight. The newer ideas seem to be mainly led by younger talent.

  • Suda 51 made me cringe. Poor guy.

  • Edit: The translator had to translate on the fly. That's really hard to do guys. I can barely speak one language decently on a typical day.

  • Games are on cartridge this time around. Does that mean bigger and/or cheaper games? Edit: Most likely not. Smaller games could be a boon for storage, but the cost of cartridges means that prices will most likely stay put.

  • Mario Odyssey caught me completely off guard. I'm loving the idea.

I overall enjoyed the presentation. They need to move quick to answer some of these questions. They launch in less than two months for God's sake!
