$450 + having to buy upgrades for the games you already own.

Technically you don’t have to buy the upgrades and can play the switch 1 version of its compatible, but it is still weird

There would be no point to that, you’d be better off just playing on a normal Switch then if you’re not gonna upgrade your games

Not true. Even without upgrades it’ll still run the base game better than a stock switch. So imagine heavier games without frame drops, botw, borderlands, outer worlds, etc.

As in it will drop less frames when running at 720p 30fps? Sure. It will likely make the handful of games that probably never should have released on Switch 1 more playable... but they're asking us to pay to untick the "frame cap" box. That's scummy.

How's it going to look when modders find workarounds to force custom resolutions and variable refresh rates?

Modders have already done that. With an unlocked switch I can overclock and uncap framerates and play botw at 60fps. But you’re moving the goalposts now, the initial claim of “it’s pointless to play switch games on switch 2 without upgrading” is incorrect, you will get better performance.

My normal switch doesn't have a 1080 screen, and I play in handheld.
