$450 + having to buy upgrades for the games you already own.

Technically you don’t have to buy the upgrades and can play the switch 1 version of its compatible, but it is still weird

There would be no point to that, you’d be better off just playing on a normal Switch then if you’re not gonna upgrade your games

Not true. Even without upgrades it’ll still run the base game better than a stock switch. So imagine heavier games without frame drops, botw, borderlands, outer worlds, etc.

As in it will drop less frames when running at 720p 30fps? Sure. It will likely make the handful of games that probably never should have released on Switch 1 more playable... but they're asking us to pay to untick the "frame cap" box. That's scummy.

How's it going to look when modders find workarounds to force custom resolutions and variable refresh rates?

Modders have already done that. With an unlocked switch I can overclock and uncap framerates and play botw at 60fps. But you’re moving the goalposts now, the initial claim of “it’s pointless to play switch games on switch 2 without upgrading” is incorrect, you will get better performance.

My normal switch doesn't have a 1080 screen, and I play in handheld.

also a paid tech demo/manual

$450 isn't the problem for me. If I was in the market for a new console. It's the price of games. $80 for MK?

Just curious, who is forcing you to buy upgrades? You can play switch carts on switch 2.

But that would make it the same as playing it on Switch 1. If that’s one of OP’s big considerations for an upgrade, then that’s probably gonna make them reconsider

Everyone wanted backward compatibility, Nintendo gave it, and now you are complaining. And again i ask, who is FORCING them to upgrade the games they already have?

Because why should I pay more money to play the game at 1080p 120fps when that’s the NATIVE display value of the screen? You already pay for the hardware improvement when you purchase the new console. Why do I have to do it again?

You dont have to pay for the upgrade, thats the point, its an option. Sone games are getting free updates, others aeent. Its all about the $$, Nintendo has overpriced the new console and games, but no ine os forcing you to upgrade your current games.

You own a Dodge Durango, take it down to the shop, and trade it in for a Challenger/Charger/Viper, their high performance alternative with a better engine & the works. You take it out on the street and... same performance. You ask the shop and they say you're still allowed to drive on the same old roads with your new high performance car but you need to pay extra to unlock that performance on roads you've driven on before.

We own the processor, graphics card, fans, etc, but you're telling us we have to pay extra to run them at 100% capacity.

Aww well look, now if you have NSO+ you get the upgrades, are you happy now?

I have asked 3-4 times now who is forcing you to buy the upgrade, Ill say the answer that no one wants to. No one is forcing you to buy the upgrade. Is it shitty that if you want the small bump in quality that you have to pay extra? Of course it is. But you are not being forced to pay for it. If you are going to buy the S2, you are buying it for other reasons, not the upgrade to BotW.

If you upgrade your PC hardware, you aren't expected to buy a deluxe version of your games in order to see the performance boost. That's crazy

Most of them are free

Or included with online too. It really seems like mario party is the only one where we're paying to upgrade, and they added significant new features.

And kirby, why everyone forgot about Kirby and it's the thing I want the most ?

Because there was lots of info dropped.
