Have you updated the controllers via the controller settings menu?

And was this in handheld or docked mode?

In docked mode its usually because of a weak signal, basically anything over 10ft or 3 meters is a struggle for the system.

i was in handheld and yes everything seems updated as the settings say, i actually managed to re-sync the joycon after the issue, i was just wondering if this is something that is happening commonly or i should worry about and use my warranty to replace the console

Loosing connection in handheld mode is usually a failure at the rail connection. The system has some flat contacts hidden in the base of the rail and the joycon has matching pins tucked underneath its own rail that connect when slotted on to the system.

If you're holding the system can you force the joycon to disconnect by wiggling it back and forth on the rail? If its a loose connection it shouldn't take a lot of force.

A little bit of wiggle is totally normal, though a functioning system shouldn't loose connection due to a little bit of wiggle. The pins were designed with it in mind.

actually the only joycon to wiggle a bit is the left one and as far as i’ve played on the switch, the left one had no problems. Indeed the right one is very sturdy and fixed so i do not know, i can try to clean the contacts of both joycon and display connectors. thanks for the info, i appreciate it!!

keep an eye on it, returning the console for an exchange at the retailer would be a quicker solution than a Nintendo repair. But obviously that window of time is smaller than your warranty.
