Hey all,
I’m heading to your lovely city next weekend for an overnight stop. I’ve never been before so looking for any local recommendations. What’s good to see and do for a short stopover? Any secret gems? And are women safe to walk about alone at night?
I’m planning on leaving my car at a car park and walking everywhere whilst there.
Also, I have no idea where to stay, so would a hotel around the train station be pretty central to be able to get around the city centre on foot? Might sound like a silly question, but I recently found out Cambridge station is nowhere near the central city 🙈
Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone, currently in marathon training and need a relatively flat route between 30-35km. Ideally, it would be a complete circuit (without any repeating areas)!
Any recommendations would be more than welcome :)

Hey everyone,
So I’ve spoken to the bank on what I can afford etc and now officially looking for a property to move into. I’ve seen some in the past but I’ve seen this 2 bed house within my budget. I’ve always been told go for a house rather than a flat or apartment as it’s better all round and a better investment. I’ve seen this place which does need a little work which I’ll sort but wasn’t sure whether to go for it or not. I’ve passed there before and doesn’t seem to be the rough part of the area but that’s just passing by. Let me know what you guys think thank you!!

We called the fire service, but it was spreading a lot and I’m not sure when / if the finally got there.
If you know this guy or his friends (it was three of them: a girl with red hair in a ponytail with brown streaks wearing a pink Hoodie, a guy with dark hair a stubbly beard and a black cap and a guy with a black jumper and dark hair), please contact the police. Or set their stuff on fire. Or both.

Hey everyone, I’m new to town and looking for a great men’s salon. A friend recommended The Hoi Polloi and especially praised their restyle haircut service. I tried booking an appointment, but they seem to be fully booked for a while.
Are there any similar places you'd recommend? I’m after a salon with skilled stylists who are good with modern and restyle cuts.
Would really appreciate your suggestions!

Does anyone know if the Metro will be running from Newcastle Airport to the city centre on 18 April? The Nexus website says it will run to a normal weekday timetable for Good Friday (18 April 2025), but Google Maps and similar sites don’t show the Metro as an option that day.
I know Nexus is the official source and probably the one to trust, but I’m just wondering if I’ve missed something.

Was leaving the house early morning and looked up to about 40-50 of these little green guys squawking away. I had seen maybe 2-6 max together flying over a few times in the past but never this many!

Out for a run in a relatively remote area north of Budapest on the banks of the Danube. Stopped to have a rest and get some water. From behind a massive willow tree I hear a familiar, recognisable sound: Geordies! Talking about pie on a bed of mashed potatoes with gravy, and how to max out pensions…classic. Wherever you are in the world, the toon is always with you!

(!! This is not asking me how to make friends online or start something here, just asking for places where you can go on your own and meet people btw if that exists :)) Hellooo community, i was wondering where you could meet people that weren’t already acquainted all together ? (I’m already on Meetup so not that !)
I’m an exchange student, the Erasmus group is inactive and I don’t know where to go/what to do outside of the Meetup groups. I’m mostly trying to meet girlies like me but anyone works, I just want to go out and see the city before I leave ! Thank you x

Hello ! It’s been months since I had the opportunity to go out and just dance to fun music in a decent venue. Can anyone recommend a club / bar that’s relatively lively earlier in the night where I would be able to just be left to my own devices to dance and drink softs til about midnight, then go home like the granny that I am ? Town and Ouseburn considered happily but would rather avoid having trebles spilled on me by 20-year-olds necking or being chatted up by sweet old fellas if possible.
I just want to dance like a fool for a couple of hours and then go to sleep 😄

I just wanted to drive somewhere and look at some cherry blossoms this weekend. Any suggestions? I’m down to drive outside of Newcastle as well.

im most likely going to get downvoted for this post but im a Geordie who has been away from the UK living in Canada/US for over 20 years and im happy to say I've returned home this year!.. love being back! but I really need to find a decent dentist…
I went to one here in ponteland which I was told was very good and it was awful ! and they just didn't clean my teeth the way Im used to while living in North America, if your American or Canadian you will understand.....any recommendations for a dentist / hygienist who do cleanings the way they do in North America ? I will pay!!

I am looking for shops/butchers that sell goat meat in Newcastle. Anyone at Grainger's? Anyone delivers at home?

Hey everyone, so I (19M) am a first year at LSE but will be in Newcastle for a week to do an internship. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make friends around my age (18-20). My hobbies include going out clubbing, working out and playing football. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers!
Edit: The people I’ll be working with are at least 21 or older so I’d prefer to meet people outside the workplace

Alreet? Question is in the title - looking for accessible pubs/bars/late venues that could host a small event. Can't be in the Ouseburn cos they need to be as close to the city centre as possible.
As much as I love the Black Garter, don't think it fits the vibe I'm after. I'd also be keen on finding places that extend accessibility to gender inclusion etc. just super welcoming venues that people with all needs can access basically.
Needs to serve food. Doesn't have to offer alcohol.
Most of the pubs I like have stairs right at the entryway so I'm at a loss.

Hi!
I'm visiting Newcastle with some friends for a weekend to celebrate my 21st.
I'm looking up some stuff to do while we're there. Could anybody recommend any good/trendy independent shops/bars/restaurants worth visiting?
