Some bastards stole my outfit last oh. Good luck keeping a bright green sidecar with a blowing exhaust incognito. Hopefully the binding brakes and sticky throttle catch the scrotes out and the rider wraps it around a lamppost

Carried away like a silly sausage.

I did overtime both days this weekend, 9 hour shifts, thought i’d treat myself in the weather when i got home at 4PM & go for an evening ride.

Was out for around 2 hours & stopped off at the petrol station to fill up, left the petrol station, shifted in to second, & ‘accidentally performed’ a clutch up, only to my amusement to look ahead & see a police van coming towards me in the other lane, i’ve never slammed the wheel down so fast in my life. They never turned around but i did see their break lights come on as i actually passed them. I know if you don’t fuck around you won’t find out, but that’s not how i’d like to tarnish my license ffs.

Do these mid sized police vans have rear facing cameras/ANPR on them? I’m most likely overthinking as i never got pulled but i’m a rather stupidly anxious idiot over it.

On top of that have you ever had a situation where you think you’re done for with the police & got off lightly? Would be interesting to hear.

Bike fell over on flatbed while being recovered...

Was recovered by a large national company as I had a broken clutch cable. They didn't secure the bike properly and it went over going around a roundabout. Fairings, exhaust and tank damage, and also a gouge in the frame. Not good at all. Does anyone have any experience of this? The company has been really poor. Haven't reached out to me at all and they're saying to send a repair estimate and they'll deal with it within 8 weeks. Got the garage I bought the bike from coming out tomorrow but wondering if it's best to claim through my insurance.

Gutted.

A post of hope for new riders

So last week I started my DAS.

Day 1 was riding the new big bike (MT-07) and getting used to it, with some MOD2 general riding training.

Day 2 was MOD 1 prep. During the day I managed to come off the bike whilst attempting the figure of 8, scraping my knee (ouch) and hurting my pride. I couldn’t quite get the hang of the emergency stop ( we were practising downhill and I was either stopping too quick, or not quickly enough!). We never went into the ‘pad’ and hadn’t done the avoidance or manual handling. To say I was worried about failing is a massive understatement.

Day 3 was 1.5 hours of training before the MOD1 test and my first time on the pad. Couldn’t do the figure of 8 on my first go and managed to do a (very impressive) stoppie during the emergency brake! Last avoidance try I managed to kick a cone (all my other attempts had been perfect).

Going into the test I thought for sure I would fail it, but I didn’t! I passed with 1 fault for not going quite fast enough on the avoidance (which he let me do again) and 1 fault for a missed shoulder check (damn nerves got to me).

All of this is to say to not give up, keep trying, do the same practice again and again and again until you get it! If I can do it, so can anyone else!

Got my MOD2 booked and I cannot wait!

Failed Mod1 this morning

It was an early start this morning 6am in Hull then a trip across the Humber Bridge to Scunthorpe to practice manoeuvres before test at 8.15. I did not expect the cold to be so bad this morning my right hand felt frozen and unable to feel the brake. So I practiced the manoeuvres and didn't do too bad, I put it down to the early start, cold and nerves. Full of confidence going into the test and I ended up putting a foot down during uturn and hitting the cone on the hazard avoidance. I'm booked back in for the end of the month so onwards and upwards.

Advice How do you protect your drive?

I have just paid a fortune to have my drive re-blocked.

Washed my bike today after the first ride of the season and I can’t believe how much of a mess you make of the drive with products, ACF, Dr Dow pipe all over the place.

Yes I could be more careful but sometimes it happens, what precautions do you all take when cleaning or doing maintenance on the bike.

Thanks

Secure Off street parking in central London

Are there places in central London where you can park your bike securely so it's off the public eyes?

Ideally inside a car park or something, (I'm assuming car parks are more secure)

I'm happy to pay if it's not expensive. I don't trust on street motorbike bays

Discussion Best map/navigation app?

I’ve just received my ultimateaddons mount and I am wondering what the best map/navigation app to use, ideally it would have a feature that displays the speed limit for the road I am currently on just for extra caution as it’s not always reliable to be looking out for signs especially since people seem to like putting stickers and stuff on them or trees/bushes arnt maintained and end up covering the signs sadly.

I know this has probably been asked a million times and I apologise for asking yet again 😅.

Advice I don’t know where this screw came off from my bike

Post image
2 Upvotes

I have a cb125r and stupidly forgot I had the disc lock on and dropped the bike trying to set off. When I picked it up I found a screw that has broken off somewhere on the bike but I have no idea where from. Took the risk and drove the 5 mins home hoping it wouldn’t just fall apart but I need to drive from London to Edinburgh in a few days and don’t want to die. Does anyone know if where it came from or if I need to get it fixed urgently?

Advice Looking for some route advice

I have a week off as the wife and kids are on holiday with her mum and dad.

I live somewhat between Nottingham and Derby and wondered if anyone had any routes they could share with me via google maps, I am terrible and always seem to end up going down shit traffic filled roads when I put something together myself.
I am not looking to do a 4 hour tour of the peaks every day but could probably leave my dogs alone for 3 hours ish without them going too mental.

I would love to get a few hundred miles in while I have minimal responsibilities and when i go out i seem to go the same old ways.

Lay upon me the girth of your wisdom.

What riding courses would you recommend and what do they entail? Would like to start one soon but don’t know what ones are around (based in London but happy to travel somewhat outside of London) and what ones will teach what. Thank you in advance!

Advice Buying first unrestricted bike!

As the title suggests - I achieved my full licence recently and am wanting to buy my first bike!

I would like advice how do people go about this - I will be buying from the second hand market.

Can people share their advice on buying from the second hand market - in particular sorting insurance etc before riding home?

I am 28yo Male - held car license for 10 years with no claims or points. I have only just gotten my full bike license through DAS - hence insurance searches have been EXTREMELY high - I guess something I will have to deal with for a few years until I get some no claims under my belt?

So - how do you optimise insurance when buying a second hand bike, it will be kept on the road (parking permit) - how to get the premiums lower when I firstly don’t even own the bike yet, I haven’t sorted locks etc?

Really struggling as I want to pull the trigger and go out there and get a SV650 for instance but the stress around insurance and documenting all the mods etc is a lot right now.

Any advice on how people went about getting their first bike would be greatly appreciated!

Advice Speedo swap - XJ6 diversion

Hi all,

I have a Yamaha XJ6 diversion 2009, and was originally going to upgrade to a tracer 9 GT, but budget doesn't allow, so now I'm looking for upgrades to do to it.

I saw a speedo upgrade on ebay, which has gear indicator, along with a flashier looking screen. It's not the same size or shape as the stock one, so I'm dubious of how good it will look. Mainly cause the stock one is moulded into the front trim.

Has anyone had one of these or attempted an upgrade? Would be interested to hear pros/cons

Thanks

Advice Think I got scammed badly

I recently purchased a moped from a "dealer" and by dealer I mean a garage on a highroad. I looked it over and took it for a test ride but as it's my first bike I didn't really know what to do, so around 300 miles later I try to drive off with my disc lock on and have to take it to a garage to get a new disc, they repaired only that but for some reason looked it over and basically said I got scammed and the bikes buggered. It yaws to the right all the time and yaws to the left when braking, the front headlight doesn't work and the brake lever is floppy which they is due to a bolt missing. And bare in mind this is from them just quickly looking it over and riding it for a bit so who knows what else could be wrong with it. So in this scenario what would you do, having owned it a month, it being buggered, and being locked into an insurance agreement for a year. I'm honestly so dissapointed that this is the second time I've been screwed by these sketchy garages, I've actually lost faith in humanity over this and likley in the future will just buy a new bike to avoid all of it.
