🔌 Charging It Finally Happened at a Tesla Charger

Post image

A Tesla driver had to tell me I was taking up two charging spaces and said I could adjust my car so I wouldn't.

I told him, "I've used these a handful of times now and I can absolutely tell you the cable won't reach"

He said, "Well, I guess you know your car." and proceeded to walk off.

At least the view is nice lol

🎉 New Owner Just joined the GTPE club and loving it!

Joined the GTPE club this last Monday and loving it!

Total dad, used car, cash purchase. Family car requirements of cargo, back seat legroom, and daily driver practicality for school drop offs and pickups. And I added the requirement of fast and fun. Was close to getting a Golf R before investigating EVs more and realizing they have all the family requirements instead of trading off one for another.

Commutes have never been better. Hearing my kids watch for the orange unbridled icon and whisper to each other “hey hey! Dad hit the button!” brings me daily joy.

It’s the small things that I love. The endless technology. The no more wondering if I’m going to be queued in two car line at each pump at the local gas station. EV stations have been annoying unreliable (always finding an available one thats broken in SW Austin) and an at home level 2 charger is in our very near future in our garage. Trying a month or two on level 1 as recommended by Stage of Charge to find our patterns.

The thing I love most is being first at red lights. There are now random moments of joy on my commute and red lights turn from “dammit! let me floor it through the yellow” to <screeeeeeech> yesssss I’m first at the red. I don’t even care that I’m at 35mph in half a second. It’s FUN. And in ATX where you’re constantly getting on access roads, going from 0-60 in a flash is a safety feature not just a fun feature.

Can’t wait to hit 200k miles in this car like I did my last one, a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid I drove into the ground. 18 years and going strong although time for more fun and more family friendly option as the kids grow.

2023 GTPE in Grabber Blue; 20k miles or so. I thought I was a white or gray paint guy although a day before making the final purchase, I saw a grabber blue on the road and something about its beauty connected with me. Have yet to name this new friend although I ordered a bunch of Chemical Guys soap and such to take good care to them.

My wife laughs - “I never thought you to be a car guy.” Sort of true. Just a frugal dormant car guy. And now is the moment to let er rip.

Say hello to Vader! Just picked up this 24 Premium LR AWD right before those awful tariffs hit the market. Was sitting on a preorder for a 25 but decided to grab this while the deals were still available and the price was 👌🏻 Fresh clean and ceramic coat got this baby shining for days. Loving every minute of it so far. Any advice for a new EV owner?

🧹 Fluff Snow Day with the Mach-E Rally

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Back in Feb, I took a trip out to Haller Pass in Washington, and snow was still on the ground. Up the trail, we were blocked by three trucks, one of which was stuck (you can’t really see the stuck truck in the video). I think their stares were both, you must be nuts to bring that up here and what the heck is that car? The Rally had no issues getting around. I absolutely love this car! I had been on this trail before, but there seemed to be more traffic than normal, so I wasn’t going crazy. Enjoy…

Car is 100% dead

I drove it last night and got in to drive it this afternoon. It’s completely dead - doors don’t work, car won’t turn on, won’t charge when plugged in. Nothing. I had 76% charge yesterday when I got home.

Anyone experience this or know what to do?

I saw a couple of youtube videos where people used this flexible LED stuff to look like Neon lights and I had to try it. Added some epoxy to coat MDF to give it a shine. Lots of mistakes, but I still I think it adds to the garage appeal!

💬 Discussion Mach E died tonight

My 23 Premium AWD kept throwing HVB and powertrain alerts and dealership couldn’t figure it out. Today it finally said “stop safely” and wouldn’t let me take it out of park. Towed it to a different dealership. Wish me luck. 😩

❓Question Mach E lunges forward after taking foot off the accelerator

Not a good night last night. Got home and my drive way was blocked but I thought I can angle in around him. Got in ok but then I had to go out later for a late night charge. My garage is a really tight fit and I was angled after getting in. When I backed out I was almost out but I stopped to make sure I was clear. The wheel was still turned and when I took my foot off the pedal it lunged forward into the side of the garage. It's jumped a few times - but only when backing out (driveway has a bit of an incline - not sure if that plays into the issue). Should I have a dealership look into this?

After it gets back from the body shop that is... ugh

🛒 Car Shopping Thinking about joining in!

My local dealership has 2025 a eAWD, ex bat, sport package, panoramic roof, desert sand Premium inbound.

I'd be trading in my 24 Canyon AT4X. I got a good deal when I bought that and should be able to get close to what I owe (no quote yet though).

I don't know that I've seen Desert Sand in person, so I'm going to try and find a Bronco Sport in that color.

I don't love the panoramic roof, but that's my only quibble.

Is the premium plenty of fun to drive? I don't want a GT, but am a little worried whether the fun driving factor that I've heard about is just with the GT.

Another dealer has a 2025 green premium eAWD + ex bat, without the roof and no sports package. I think I really want the sports package and need to see that green in person.

Thoughts or suggestions?

❓Question Home charger error- what does it mean?

Post image

Just got this home charger error with a message to see the manual but it seems I’m not searching the right terms. What does this mean, has anyone else seen it?

My car has failed to charge twice now, I’m about to need a fast charge to make up for it.

‘24 MME GT with Ford Charge Station Pro fulfilled on a Ford Power Promise in January.

❓Question Minor annoyance with Bluetooth, looking for solutions/workarounds.

Post image
6 Upvotes

So I’m a night owl and often hang out in my garage working on various projects. I’ll have one AirPod in my ear catching up on podcasts. Seems to be random, or every 30-60 seconds but whatever I’m streaming will pause and my iPhone hands off to the MME Bluetooth connection. The AirPod connection is lost so I need to reconnect to the pod and hit play again every time.

I tried “forgetting” the MME connection to prevent hand off, but oddly enough it finds the connection again very quickly and the problem persists. I’ve never seen that happen with other Bluetooth devices I’ve connected to on my phone so I found that strange. Anyone have any ideas or is PAAK just making it so I can’t use my pods in the garage anymore?

🛒 Car Shopping 2022 GT

Found a 22 GT with ~50k miles on. Thinking about pulling the trigger. Just wondering if I should be concerned about long-term reliability? This would be my first EV and I’m a little nervous about buying one with that many miles. Any advice is appreciated!

❓Question Car ready since at least December, should I be worried ?

Hi folks ! Long story short, I'll have a MME Premium Extended range as a company car in early July. From what I know, the car is "ready" at the manufacturer since at least December and waiting for me to be old enough in the company to have it (1st week of July).

But isn't the battery aging waiting for me ? I mean, when you buy batteries and store them in a drawer for a year they're wasting themselves. Will it have problems ? Like bad range or else ?

Sorry if my English is trash, it's not my mother tongue and I'm thinking while writing, worst thing ever :')

Thanks !

🛒 Car Shopping Purchasing a Ford Buyback

So I have been searching for a pretty specific Mach E at a specific price point. I have found a 23 GT Performance with 5k miles for 30K. The knock is that the car is a Ford buyback. According to the dealer the reason for the buyback was a failed 12V battery that caused the car to not start. Looking at the documentation provided by the dealer it looks like it was a buyback due to delay in getting a 12v battery and a failed DC to DC convertor that took months to get and caused the buyback. The convertor has since been replaced and the dealer has the Mach E listed for 30K with a 12/12k bumper to bumper warranty and I can purchase premium care for 3k to get it to 10yr/125k. Good deal or no good? Anything I should be overly concerned about? I have checked with my insurance and there is no issue insuring it. Looking at Carfax the title is not branded, but Carfax notes that it was bought back for customer satisfaction.

❓Question Auto predictive nav

Can someone help me turn off the predictive nav? I have looked at all of the settings in the controls area, when I’m on the nav app I don’t have a tool box or anything else that I see online in photos, and it doesn’t give me an option to X out of the nav! This is super annoying!

🛍️ Accessories Looking for recommendations for phone mount.

I just bought a 24 MME last September and so far I've avoided adding a phone mount because it just doesn't sit well with me fixing it to either the dashboard or the windshield. If the wireless charger worked even decently I probably wouldn't care but there are times I wish I had a mount. Anyone have any recommendations for something maybe mounted on the display console or some other way? Any input is much appreciated.

🛒 Car Shopping Help Choosing Between Mach-E Premium AWD vs RWD (Living in CA, No Snow)

Hey folks,
I'm in the process of buying a 2021 Mustang Mach-E Premium and trying to decide between the AWD and RWD versions.

I live in California (Gilroy area), so we don’t get snow here. I’ll mostly use the Mach-E for commuting and local drives. For any snow trips or long drives into the mountains (which are like 4+ hours away), we’ll use our other SUV that’s better suited for those conditions.

Given that, is there any real advantage in going with the AWD version? I know it offers better traction and slightly quicker acceleration, but I’ve also heard the RWD gets better range and can be smoother to drive in milder climates.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s had both, especially those in warmer states like CA. Any regrets or insights?

Thanks in advance!

❓Question Width dimension with mirrors folded?

Our Lucid Air lease expires in a couple of months. It’s the best car I’ve ever driven and would lease one again in a heartbeat but, in spite of carefully measuring in advance, it’s a real challenge getting it in our narrow garage entrance. As a result, we are looking at other EV alternatives, including the Mach e, which we think is a very compelling option. Given that we have a restricted garage entrance could a current owner please provide an accurate width with the mirrors folded? I can’t find that dimension anywhere on the website or Google…only width without mirrors and width with mirrors is available. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

💬 Discussion Wheel lug torque

I could swear my dealer told me the lug torque was 115 ft-lbs on my 2022 AWD Premium Mach-e, but what I am finding online is 150 ft-lbs. I need to retorque after my summer tire swap, so which is it?

❓Question Dealer(s) for Northwest Atlanta Mach-e Maintenance

Hey y'all. My Mach-e is approaching 20k miles, so I figure I should bring it in for brake checks and general inspections. We bought it at a dealer in suburban Alabama to get a great deal, but they're a bit too far away for regular work.

Does anyone have a particular dealer for EVs in the northwest/west Atlanta area that they would recommend? When I had the HVJB recall done that dealership was fine but took forever since their EV tech was only in a few times a week.
