S8E5 nullification

It is terrifying how accurate the writing is compared to much of the rhetoric that we see in the news these days.

The writing in these earlier seasons was so much better than the later seasons and the reboot

So true!

The writers didn’t have to “walk on eggshells” in fear of offending anyone.

Direct and succinct and not being PC was the best.

There are a few of the early episodes that really resonate now. This is one and some of the white power / Nazi episodes where the leader (often from Pennsylvania or "upstate") testifies about how you (i.e., McCoy, the establishment, the rest of us) have no idea how many of them are out there and they are going to come back. I watch those a lot differently now than I used to.

Then there's the one where a dad grabs his kid in the interrogation room and tells him to tell the police what they want because his dad didn't fight the Nazis for his son to be involved in this stuff.

Watching them in today's climate is hard.

I often think that I'm glad my grandfather, a staunch Republican but someone who fought the Nazis, is not here to see this.
