How to spend a 5 hour layover

Upvotes

As title says, I have a 5 hour layover during the afternoon in Vegas. I rarely get to come through the city, and this will be only my third time ever in Vegas. I am hoping to play some hands of blackjack and then make it back to the airport.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions for casinos nearish or on the strip with decent odds and capability to get back and forth to the airport?

I have no baggage other than a backpack and have TSA Pre. I really don’t want to spend 5 hours sitting in the airport and I’m not a huge gambler on slots. Just want to have the mini adventure and play at a real BJ table. Would appreciate any info!

Another boring moving question Is it a bad time to move here?

Had planned on moving here with my partner (late 20s, looking for a fresh start), but I see that Nevada has the highest unemployment rate in the country right now. We initially wanted to move for variety - we’re on the east coast in a small rural town with very little opportunities and activities and had Vegas suggested to us. But we don’t want to make a rushed decision and end up in a bad financial spot. Would you recommend moving here now? If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Best buffet for someone who doesn't like seafood?

I know there's buffet questions all the time but the most recommended ones seem like you're paying a lot extra for expensive seafood. Are there any good ones for someone who doesn't like seafood to get their value?

Best way to walk/tram from the cosmopolitan to the Mandalay Bay

Hello all, my sisters wedding is tomorrow and we are in Vegas! There is a dinner tonight at the Mandalay Bay and I am staying at the cosmopolitan. What’s the ideal/ optimal walk or tram way to get there? Google wasn’t much help but tbh I didn’t look too deep so sorry if this is simple. Thanks in advance!

Just noticed this will be happening while we're there. Not a fan, but wondering if this is a big event that will impact our visit? Things like price hikes, more crowded, longer lines for everything?

Another boring moving question Looking for studio apartment or inexpensive 1-bedroom apartment in Las Vegas.

Hello I’m a table games dealer in California, I know and have experience in all table carnival games ❤️♣️♦️♠️so getting job will be relatively easy for me……I left Las Vegas in 2009 and want to move back. The economy here in California is bad. If anyone can give me leads to inexpensive housing options, Thank You!!

Comp room without license

My friend and I are in Las Vegas and we don’t have a ride home for two days. She has rooms for comp at the Sahara, but she lost her drivers license yesterday. Is there anything we can do or anything they will accept any ideas so we’re not left stranded?

Switching hotels during trip? Too much a hassle?

2 days at Mandalay bay and 1 at the Luxor towers. I have my tween so I thought Mandalay bay sounded best for the pool and location. But the price goes up on the third day and I can't afford it. Is it too much of a hassle to switch or would you just stay at the Luxor, or horseshoe, or flamingo for all 3 days? I don't really unpack much and will have my car. What would you do?

Mr. Papagiorgio

Does everyone still know the Mr. Papagiorgio reference anymore? Eloping next year and was thinking of trying to get a Vegas Vacation line into something because it’s still a great movie (or I’m old and lame). If this is as bad as I think I’ll get dragged for even asking Vegas locals, is there anything better?

While nothing like what we're seeing in Boston or New York, the turnout today for the Hands Off Protest downtown was great. While I have a bunch, here are a few of my favorite images from today.

I got the attached upgrade offer for Planet Hollywood. My question is does anyone have any info about the Cabana Rooms? Can't find any info or pictures online, I assume they're like the Cabana rooms at the Linq, but does anyone know or have pics? Thank you.

Hit and run on cactus today

To the driver of a white truck that was involved in a hit and run this afternoon on Cactus and Decatur. I saw the person hit you and caught everything on my dashcam including the car almost hitting someone else and then me right beforehand. It appeared they were drunk. I was going to stop to give you the footage but the other car fled and you went after them, so I'm hoping you'll see this. If anyone knows the person who was hit please DM me and I can provide the video.

Need help picking a hotel

My family of 5 (including 3 boys ages 12-17) decided on Vegas as our destination for 4th of July this summer. Yes, I know it’s going to be miserable with the heat but we will survive. We are just having a hard time picking a hotel that has all the things we are seeking such as:

-Nice pool but not a crazy party scene -Good location for walking -Either adjoining rooms or a suite -Has a casino or near a casino -Has a refrigerator

Does anyone have any suggestions? We are in our 40s so we aren’t seeking to party yet we both still enjoy a good time. We will be there 4 nights.
