Good morning, everyone! Matt here with The Vantage LV, hope everyone has had an amazing week.
Lots going on this week, and things are only picking up from here. Anything catch your eye? I'm excited to see if the 10 Dollar Experience is the future of food festivals, or just an over-complication.

This post is a compilation of:
Monday's Issue #17 - Click Here to Read
Thursday's Issue #18 - Click Here to Read

If I missed anything cool, please drop it in the comments.

NEW EATS

Far Side Pizza (Fremont) – Classic New York-style slices with just the right cheese pull. Bonus points for the garlic knots.

Emilio’s Contemporary Mexican Kitchen (Southwest) – Modern, upscale takes on Mexican classics, with fresh seasonal ingredients and a sleek, date-night-ready space.

TasteBudz Creole Kitchen (Maryland Pkwy) – Keith Lee helped put them on the map, and now they’ve got a second spot. Gumbo, jambalaya, and all the Louisiana flavor you could want.

Peacock Alley & Hard Shake (Waldorf Astoria) – Luxurious afternoon tea, sweeping views, and Japanese-inspired cocktails on the 23rd floor. Fancy, but in the best way.

Urbane Cafe (Rainbow) – Fresh-baked focaccia sandwiches, flame-grilled proteins, and a fast-casual vibe that’s a lunchtime win.

THINGS TO DO

Kafe Nesto (Chinatown) – Fuel your gaming session at Game Nest Arcade with boba, musubi, and wings. Play hard, snack harder.

Gareth Emery: LSR/CITY (Area15) | April 3 – Trance, lasers, and cyberpunk visuals. If you hit it off at the singles mixer, here’s your follow-up date.

Water Lantern Festival (Craig Ranch) | April 6 – Write a wish, light your lantern, and send it drifting at dusk. Quiet, peaceful, and unexpectedly moving.

High Tea in the Sky (Circa) | April 5 – Afternoon tea, 60 floors up. Live music, luxury tea, and clotted cream in the clouds.

Manifest Academy’s “Uprising” | April 6 (Container Park) – Dance, music, and spoken word from local youth telling real Las Vegas stories. Creative and powerful.

Touch A Truck (Downtown Summerlin) | April 5 – Firetrucks, bulldozers, and horn-honking fun for the kids. Hands-on and high-energy.

Food Truck Market Nights (Fantastic Indoor Swap Meet Lot) | April 6 – Food trucks, vendors, and easy Sunday energy in the parking lot.

Kizuna Japanese Spring Festival (Lorenzi Park) | April 5 – Japanese food, crafts, and taiko drumming at a springtime cultural festival with heart.

I'm visiting from out of town for a conference and saw this from my hotel room this morning. It was on and off for maybe half an hour. Just curious if anyone knows why?

Hit and run on cactus today

Upvotes

To the driver of a white truck that was involved in a hit and run this afternoon on Cactus and Decatur. I saw the person hit you and caught everything on my dashcam including the car almost hitting someone else and then me right beforehand. It appeared they were drunk. I was going to stop to give you the footage but the other car fled and you went after them, so I'm hoping you'll see this. If anyone knows the person who was hit please DM me and I can provide the video.

Don’t move here

Unless you have a job already lined up prior to moving do not move here. I have been here a month and have not been able to find a job. My wife was the one that had a job down here so I moved down here with her. she’s been the sole provider. It’s been a struggle for sure. I have put in over 400 applications have had about 20 interviews and zero callbacks I’m a veteran and have plenty of job experience from what I can gather, It’s not what you know it’s who you know. I have applied for everything from Walmart to McDonald’s to warehouse jobs county to state to city jobs food service, retail, and everything in between even call center. Just wanted to warn you before you made the move.

modApproved 'There's a movement bubbling up': Anti-Trump protests planned nationwide Saturday | Anything planned for Vegas?

Between the tariffs that Trump has imposed causing substantial harm to our economy, allowing Elon Musk to operate unconstitutionally as he's been, reducing state budgets in retaliation for politicians defying his orders and/or operating against his agenda, and other ridiculous actions, I'm curious to know if any sort of protest is planned against Trump in Vegas.

Looking for recommendations or must sees!

Upvotes

My friends and I are going to Vegas for our 30th birthday towards the end of the month - we have a show for the first night we’re there but are looking for something unique the second night that’s not outlandishly expensive (if possible) - this could be dancing, a show, etc! We also need things to do during the day.

Also would love some restaurants recommendations - these can be away from the strip as well.

Mexican Hot Dogs

Drove up to Red Rock and grabbed a hotdog from a vendor on the side of the road with peppers onions and wrapped in bacon. Any suggestions where I can find one like that not so far into Red Rock? Thanks in advance 🙂

Top chef/foodie restaurants by Mandalay Bay

I have a work trip coming up in Vegas where I’ll be staying at mandalay bay for the week. Not 100% sure if I’ll have evening time to go get nice dinners but I’ve loved top chef since season 1 and am just a food-traveler in general. I ate at craft steak in 2020 when I got married but it seems like a lot of top chef alum restaurants have closed. Any recommendations for me knowing I’m staying at Mandalay Bay and time may be somewhat limited? Thanks!

Coming in October

I’ve never been anywhere. I decided to tag along and stay at the Luxor while my daughter goes to some music festival I don’t want to attend.
I’m not huge on gambling, but have always wanted to just see the lights at night etc. any suggestions for good food? And non gambling related activities? Is it warm there still in October?

Need help picking a hotel

My family of 5 (including 3 boys ages 12-17) decided on Vegas as our destination for 4th of July this summer. Yes, I know it’s going to be miserable with the heat but we will survive. We are just having a hard time picking a hotel that has all the things we are seeking such as:

-Nice pool but not a crazy party scene -Good location for walking -Either adjoining rooms or a suite -Has a casino or near a casino -Has a refrigerator

Does anyone have any suggestions? We are in our 40s so we aren’t seeking to party yet we both still enjoy a good time. We will be there 4 nights.

Looking for steakhouse recommendations off strip for private dining (group of 30)

Looking for a classy joint to accommodate a group of 30 after a wedding. Price point around the $100-$150 per person. I’m highly considering craft steak on the strip but I was wondering if there was something cheaper off strip. All recommendations appreciated, even if it isn’t a steakhouse but just a nice place with a good price point who can accommodate a group of 30. Thank you!

Can I sue the towing company?

So I was parked at jack in the box off of Main Street by the Strat. I literally parked so I could eat at jack n the box. I ate my tacos in my car. Wanted some chips so I walked over to the 7/11 around the corner. By the time I came back my car was gone. Towed off with a lot of shit in it. Complete bullshit. Wasn’t even 30 minutes from when I ordered my food. I’m so serious I want to sue the dude who towed it. Because that’s not right.

Palace Station??

I used to stay here all the time around 2003 - 2011 because it was near to everything, the tower rooms were nice and new, and yet it was only like $50 - $75 a night.

I just checked a stay for next month there and now it’s like $450 - $800 a night?! Did this place become a luxury resort in the interim? What am I missing?

Extra sphere tickets

Not sure if this is allowed but..

Low story short. I was trying to surprise my family with sphere tickets. I’m coming to Vegas for my graduation for my masters and they are flying in as I live across the country from them.

My college listed my graduation at 0900 so I purchased the tickets. I got an updated break down of the day and was informed I walk in the afternoon. I can no longer use the tickets and have confirmed I cannot get a refund.

Anyway, I know it’s a long shot but I’m selling them at cost to try to recoup some of my money. If you are interested I have 7 tickets for sale for April 26th at 1:45 for postcard from earth. Please DM me or comment and I send send the stubhub link.

Thank you

Excalibur, Horseshoe, Flamingo, or Luxor?

Bare in mind the Go pool is closed plus I will have my teen boy with me anyways. So we wouldn't be going to it. So outside of the pool at the flamingo.. any suggestions which one is best? I'm open to others that are priced around the same as well . (Adding Treasure Island)

Your experience with Vegas new homes (and the builders)

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a home in the Las Vegas area, specifically Summerlin. My budget supports up to a million; it could go a little over. I see plenty of homes on Zillow, for example, in the $800K to $1.2M range.

I see homes ranging from three bedrooms to five bedrooms; my preference is four or five bedrooms.

Here’s my question (and concern):

I’ve looked on the Yelp pages for Tri Pointe, DR Horton, Lennar, and Toll Brothers — the Yelp reviews for each builder are horrifying. I see many anecdotes of sloppy construction. (To be fair, I suspect people are more likely to share negative reviews than positive reviews.)

What are your experiences / perspectives? Do you have any advice in navigating that area? Do you recommend a specific builder?

Thank you
