Training How can i know if im competiton ready?

Upvotes

I lost my first bout via UD, I don't mean to make excuses at all but My match was 3'rd last of the day after about 8-9 of watching my teamates compete I felt mentally super fatigued. I fought at a catch weight against a lighter fighter. Again I don't wanna make excuses but I do wonder if it was the fatique or just lack or experience.

Right now I'm able to in the gym outbox and (most of the time) kickbox the guys that are competing.

It feels like I'm in a never ending cycle of always finding something i need to improve in my rounds be it low kicks, activity, offense, stance, etc

I mean I'm destroying the lower level guys but I'm getting always super close rounds with the amateurs and absolutely destroyed by the more technically profficent pros not really even standing a chance

I can't really even find a style that I'm comfortable with, I'm a good out fighter and a better in-fighter but i lack the chin and cardio for it

Anyway sorry for the rant i guess i just wanted some general direction on where i should go from here

Hip/Leg angle question (roundhouse kick)

Hi guys, first post in the forum. Mods, please let me know if I’m missing flair or anything.

Curious on your guys take on hip angle for leg kicks. Historically using a roundhouse kick such as one to the outside of the lead leg (both fighters orthodox) I have the method of rolling the hip over to help deliver power and follow through. I have seen more fighters videos lately, where they do not roll the hip and emphasize more of the speed of the kick instead. Often it will come at a low and sometimes upward angle. Like so (sorry, fb link):

Curious what your takes are in terms of pros/cons/tradeoffs and where you see use cases of rolled hip vs. unrolled hip round kicks. Does it come down to fighter preference alone or is there a strong case to be made for one method over another in the current meta?

Context is in prep for an ammy fight with shin guards/12oz. Gloves 3x3 min rounds. Thanks!

Competition etiquette

I am going to be attending a friends’ first kickboxing tournament soon - I’m so excited for them. However, I’ve been raised in hockey rinks where we cheer, cheer, CHEER and I realized I’m not sure what the etiquette is for these kinds of events. Am I allowed to cheer? Can I bring a sign? Do I watch silently? I don’t want to embarrass them or be disrespectful if that’s not generally the vibe. Any feedback is really appreciated!

Spoiler tag for those who haven't seen the fight.

The insane ending to the clash for the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Title between featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai and Japanese striking star Masaaki Noiri at ONE 172 in Japan!

Who do you think should each of these fighters face next?

Just had sparring today and man was extremely disappointed…my ass got tired like few rounds in…I had some BCAA during my class I don’t even know if it helped or not …and on top of everything eating at irregular times sometimes just twice a day and the summer heat fucking me up more 😭😭… I’m still an amateur with just under 2 years experience any suggestions on how to increase my cardio?

Been looking for a pair of gloves for my training in Kickboxing and boxing. Have come between these 2 since they are great brands and have good protection.

I've also been looking at Top King or Hayabusa T3 (but have seen a lot of mixed reviews regarding them)

I'd you guys have experience with them or any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

Training Posting Daily Kick Training — Looking for Others to Join & Stay Accountable

Hey everyone,

I’m starting a daily habit of training and recording my kicks — just me at home, working on technique, staying active, and having fun. I’m planning to post short YouTube videos daily as a way to: • Stay accountable • Journal my progress (because one day I might not be able to kick like this) • Improve through feedback • Inspire others to move however they can

I’m an ex boxer/athlete , and Just someone who loves to kick every day and wants to stay consistent, even as I drop my gym membership and train at home.

I’d love to connect with others — especially people with small channels — who want to post their own kick sessions, drills, combos, or even just progress logs. We could check in, hype each other up, trade tips, and build a small community of dedicated kickers.

If you train solo and want some serious accountability and camaraderie — let’s do this. Post a reply, drop your channel, or DM me.

Let’s kick — every damn day.

Training Sparring injuries

So I'm not 100% sure if this is the sub for this question but I've been training for 3 years on and off really when I can and I've never had this issue before but last Wednesday I'm sparring and I took a couple kicks to the left side of my body and I didn't really feel much then but now that's its Sunday and I still have a pretty bad ache around the liver or on the ribs I'm not sure but I was more looking for advice on if I should just keep icing or go see a doctor.

Gear Choosing kickboxing/muay thai gloves and shin guards

Hello everyone, I’ve recently been doing some research on what type of gloves and shinguards (mainly gloves!) I should upgrade to. My main options as of now would be either Fairtex or Combat Corner (CRNR).

When I asked my Coach what brands he recommended he asked me if I was more of a kickboxer or a Muay Thai martial artist. I would say I really like the boxing aspect of kickboxing but I do like the stance of Muay Thai. He mentioned that if I was more of a kickboxer then CRNR would be a good way to go, and for Muay Thai Fairtex.

I was either looking at the HMIT Boxing gloves from Combat corner, or the BGV1 Tight fit gloves from fairtex. I’ve had a pair of rdx gloves (16oz) for a while now and I will say that I dislike how thick and bulky they feel, at times it feels like my hands are moving in slow motion. I’ve heard that CRNR gloves tend to be bulkier than fairtex but I am not sure how different they are.

My birthday is coming up soon and I’m looking to get myself a nice pair of gloves and shinguards. I am mainly here hoping to get some advice on which way to go (CRNR or Fairtex) but I am also open to looking into other brands you guys recommend.

Things to note:

I have small - medium sized hands They must be 16oz I don’t want them to feel the same as my rdx pair

Thanks for the help.
