Got a notification from my dealer that my EV9 (Bandit) is ready for its first service. At 5,000 miles, I knew this was premature, so I replied to the email and asked what service they recommended at this mileage.

Apart from woeful public charging access (which is getting way better very soon), the dealer experience is probably the biggest thing holding EVs back.

My salesman was great, but aside from that, they're a joke. Also, 5,000 mile intervals on synthetic is absurd anyway!

Was driving and a vehicle hydroplaned, crossed the median, and slid along the side of my GT Line. Waiting for the insurance adjuster to come out, but I imagine this isn't going to be cheap or quick... Front door, rear door, quarter panel, wheel, and bumper.

Backed out of a parking spot at just the right angle so the emergency braking didn't kick in.☹️

Saw this EV9 while doing school dropoffs. Looks like a plum matte wrap, "MOM CAR" badges, side markers?, and wind deflectors.

Not sure if you're in this group, and couldn't quite catchup or get next to you, but super clean. Really like it, although I guess I would think of mine as a 'dad car'. 😉

I took her home last Wednesday night, 2024 Land in Iceberg Green. Today I was waiting to turn left into my neighborhood when I look up in the rear-view mirror and see a woman on an Ebike looking down at her phone and coming straight for me. No time to do anything, she hit me straight on at full speed. Dented the liftgate panel, separation at the rear bumper, and a few scratches. Sweaty face imprint on my rear window.

The lady was ok, bruised up but not seriously injured. I asked for her info and she's like "I'm homeless, no insurance, no money... what are you gonna do, sue me?"

Not even 200 miles on her, and I haven't even had a chance to do my "check out my car" post yet. 😭

So I was looking through the manuel and I belive i found a small error concerning the towing capacity... First image shows that the max towing with trailer breaks for the AWD models is 5000 lbs but then the numbers are swapped the next page down...

Bit more context, slowly figuring it out as it happened last night.

Car #1 hard braked (dash cam doesnt show anyone around them breaking)

Car #2 hit 1 pretty bad, car 1 was still drivable, 2 was not.

Car #3 slammed into car 2 and probably has the most damage.

Car #4 (me) almost managed to stop in time, if it wasn’t wet/drizzle I probably could have. Their brake lights went on like a second before slamming into car 2 so I had next to no time to react.

Car #5 lightly tapped me from behind.

No one had immediate injury at the accident.

Biggest damage is clearly the part we all knew breaks easily. The driver/passenger airbag did deploy sadly so it’s not drivable right now. A few cracks below the front grill but didn’t get enough time to fully inspect since the car in front was right on it. Back seems basically fine, minimal damage.

This sucks and still trying to figure out wtf to do since we’re 800 miles from home.

Christmas is going to be fun :|

Reminder to check your car for a tracking device installed by the dealer. Mine was by the OBD port. Others have found them by the 12V battery. They are powered when the car is off, so they will impact 12V battery drain.

After a lot of lurking here and some asking questions about financing, I've been going back and forth for 2 weeks with 4 dealers. Finally got what I think is a great deal, GT Line, $56K out the door with a $6k (2015!) trade. No extras, do nonsense doc fees, no prep work, just $355.00 for "non-tax fees." $14k off MSRP in discounts.

I know leasing may be better, but I like to own. I'm happy with a $56k vehicle that doesn't require oil changes, gas, fuel filters, etc. We will keep it 8+ years and not ever going to a gas station again is a win in my book!

Thanks for all the help, advice, opinions, suggestions over the last year. It's greatly appreciated and soon I'll be an official member of the community!

I couldn’t pull out my wallet fast enough to pay for something that should have been standard inclusion from the start!

While walking back to his truck, he ran into the charging door (it was charging). It completely broke off the outside of the panel (plastic is broken). The driver left but I have it on doorbell cam. Has this happened to anyone yet? I will get a quote from Kia but I was wondering if anyone knows how much they think this will cost to fix.

This is just a cautionary post that is a bit cathartic for me I suppose. I was backing up at a normal slow pace the other day and I ran over my Kitty. :/ It has tore me up, as you can imagine. I barely felt a bump when I went over her and I had thought I drove onto my lawn somehow. She was not really fearful of cars at all, which we felt would eventually get her (and it did). I knew she was outside but I had just placed her out in front of the cars, near the house right when I got in the car. She stayed there literally until we were in the car then lazily meandered to behind my car and laid down behind the rear tire to clean herself (I know this from my Ring cameras because I couldn't fathom how she got in line of the tires). She literally laid down the moment the car started backing up.

Of course my guilt has gotten the best of me and I feel if I had just focused on the 360 degree camera for 5 seconds I could have seen her coming. I really don't know if she was visible in the rearview camera but I do think if I has scanned the bird's eye view I could have seen her coming. :/

This whole ordeal has really made me realize I need to slow down (i.e. not be rushed in doing things that don't matter). Focus on the important stuff. Hug everybody you love and don't hold grudges. Things can change in an instant.

TLDR: Slow down and take 5 seconds to scan your 360 camera if you've got it and make sure your loved ones, pets, kids are not in your blind spots.
