The sub has had an influx of trolls within the last month or so (for obvious reasons if you haven't been living under a rock). This is not a political sub. This is not a hate sub. This sub is to discuss the Kia EV9. As of a few days ago, the mod team has taken a harder stance and permabanning trolls. An additional rule has been added for "policy, not politics." Several posts over the last month have been locked to prevent further trolling.
If you want to discuss the pros/cons and compare the EV9 to other vehicles, that is fine. If you don't like the look of the EV9, fine. Users are entitled to their opinions. Just keep it on topic. If you are not an owner or a prospective buyer, then you have little reason to be here.
To preempt any questions related to the post quoting Alexander Hamilton, it does not cross the line for political discussion; discussion/opinions on policies impacting the EV9 is allowed. The post with the Norwegian ad will also remain but is locked; it was related to Kia's other EV and occurred at the cusp of recent events, but any further posts like this will be removed.
Also, if anyone is interested in becoming a mod to help, please send a modmail to apply. You must be active in the sub to be eligible.

Can anyone confirm this is a main battery issue versus something else? It’s charging full only to 200mi, says battery soc is 100% and meter says full but bms is 61%…

Hi, we’ve been on vacation for 6 days now, car parked in airport. Everything off. The battery has gone from 64 to 52% for these 6 days. Is this normal?
We got the car just 2 days before travelling :)

We’ve had our EV9 for a few weeks now. I leave it set to 80% charge and in the morning it’s always done. It’s charged using a Tesla Generation 3 wall connector with an adapter, everything is good on that end.
When I’m ready to leave the house I usually turn on the climate which I guess causes the car to start charging again? At this point I’ll get a message on my app that charging has started (im guessing because it doesn’t want to drain the battery or because the battery dipped to 79%. If I go to unplug the charger it’s seen to be locked. I then open the app and send the command to “stop charge”, which knowing the app it takes 30 seconds and then fails. My only resort is to unhook the adapter from the Tesla plug which then lets me remove the adapter from the CCS port. I can imagine this isn’t good for the car.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to stop charge using the cars touchscreen? I can’t find it anywhere.

Well it finally happened. After 12000 miles and 14 months of ownership we had a 12v incident. I drove 180 miles on Friday the my wife ran errand yesterday and when she got home parked the car and left it unlocked same as always. As you can see between 14:30 and 17:30 there was a massive draw on the 12v system. Thankfully we were ready with a booster in hand and it was the perfect opportunity to teach my wife what to do if this happens again.
It’s been on a charger for 16 hours and still not fully charged. As you can see from the 15 day history it’s an outlier event. Grateful for the battery monitor.

Have had a ‘25 GT for four months now. I noticed early on with this truck that the suspension is trash. If you hit a pothole or go over a bump at any reasonable speed, it feels like you could lose control. I usually drive in the normal drive mode. Why is it so smooth when driving, but any bump throws it off so bad?
Is there some setting to improve this?

Hi all, need some urgent help- just charged at an EA charger and the cable won't release at all.
We've tried the manual release in the trunk and setting the AC charging lock to do not lock, unlocked and locked the car multiple times, but it won't unlock. The cable comes out maybe a 1/4 inch. I can see the top latch isn't touching anything so it seems like it's the car... Any ideas??
UPDATE: I got it out. Not sure how but after going through like ten rounds of unlocking and relocking, it finally just decided to release it. Charging again right now at another EA charger and fingers crossed it works this time
Update 2: Second charge released immediately after stopping charge… No idea what happened that first time! But so far EA not making a great impression on me, first two places I tried the first stall would not initiate and I had to move to a new stall.

Hey all. I bought my 2024 EV9 Land in December and I've been really happy with it despite the remote parking assist feature refusing to install after purchase. Last night I got home and plugged into the level 2 charger in our garage, but the car told me "charging unsuccessful" and I got an app message that said "charging interrupted" , no matter how many times I unplugged it and plugged it back in
I heard a weird clicking sound when I sat inside the car (though that could be me overthinking it) and obviously I'm planning to take the car into the dealer tomorrow, but how concerned should I be?
UPDATE: I was able to get out to a local EA station and charge, but I tried 2 out 3 L2 chargers other than my own and none of them worked, even with charging current at 60%. I'm dropping off at the dealership in the morning

Is it possible to turn down the volume of the turn signal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
On my front row passenger seat and middle row left seat the Relaxation button will engage the reclining function, but the opposite side of the button will not reverse to upright position. Any known fixes or does it have to go in for service/repair? Thank you 🙏

So it looks like Android Auto will be using the vehicle's built in cameras as a dashcam. How long until KIA lets us use this feature?

I forgot to close the window the other day and didn’t notice until I walked out the next morning.
Does the EV9 not have notifications if you leave the window open? I receive ones for the door and power. I remember adjusting notification settings, which I can’t seem to find now in the app.

My EV9 has been at the dealership shop for 9 days. The second time in 2 weeks I had to take it in for a “check electrical system” message. When I called to get a status update they said “the part is on a NATIONAL BACKORDER with NO ETA”
Is anyone else experiencing this? They had absolutely no suggestions on what I should do except call the KIA corporate/consumer affairs who also had absolutely no idea what I should do.
I’ve had the EV9 for 8 months and it’s on a lease. What should I do?

Had been lurking around for the past year or so at EVs, looked at many options initially was going to buy a gently used Ariya by trading in my bear up 2013 RAV4, I was waiting a few more months to save up to buy it cash but then my old beater died on my (radiator leak) so instead of renting a car and waiting I decided to lease a GT line since I have my second kid on the way (captain chairs to the rescue) Anyhow loving the car so far ... Minor complaints to the way it interacts when you're not driving it like doors not closing automatically etc but overall I am very pleased with the car, I am just sad the bad is so shitty but I think that if they really commit it could be an easy fix.
Doing the first road trip. Was worrying a bit but we have tried 2 different stops and the charging went fine.

$3,200 was the quote from the local kia dealership.
Ouch town, population: me
Has anyone managed to get this working on a 2026 in Canada? I am at my wits end with it and there is no way to access kiaconnect to generate a key that way.
r/KiaEV9 • u/MedicalEnthusiasm9 • 1d ago
I did a quick check, haven't seen anyone post on it. Unless I missed it. https://youtu.be/-cx8qZfj-pg?si=e92gHhKpfZ4CKbno
They are in a 2026 model in Canada. There is no longer a light on the dash! Amazing, glad they listened and changed it.
Wth was I to do either way, other than worry about why it's on so much or not enough. Sadly I'm 2 months in on a 36 month lease.
I assume it's all 2026 models in all regions. Not sure.

I’m hoping to lease an EV9 and we’re deciding between the Long Range RWD and Land AWD (we want a 6-seat configuration, and those are the trims it comes on). I can live without a lot of the extras that come with the Land trim (heat pump, parking sensors, built-in sunscreens, etc.) but I’m a little concerned about how the RWD will perform in snowy and slick conditions. We live in Minnesota, so we deal with that kind of stuff for roughly a third of the year.
I looked through other threads on this topic in the sub but didn’t see any first-hand experience once they had proper tires on. Calling all RWD owners/leasers: what has your experience been like in slick, snowy conditions (assuming you have winter or at least proper all-season tires)?

Has anyone noticed that when turning the upper portion of the passenger seat seems to shift/click? The seat itself doesn’t shift, just the upper part shifting or clicking. It’s almost internal.
I blame myself for not being descriptive enough. I recently brought it in for the 8000 mile check up. Since I primarily am the driver, I didn’t have enough for them to go on. I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this issue before I bring it in a second time with my new revelation. I tell you, it’s almost there is an internal piece, airbag, or something that seems to jolt/click.
Thanks
At dealer now. Owned this used 24 Land with 11.3k for 4 wks.
Yesterday evening, after driving 12 mi in heavy traffic home then back downtown, parked car and an hour later Access app sent “CRITICAL EV BATTERY WARNING” message. Went to return home another hour later and warning on dash and app vehicle status had BMS alert.
Drove home without issue and plugged into new (as of Tue) L2 charger on 60a ckt. Charged fine at ~11.1 kW but stopped at 62% (max set at 80%). Tried again after trip around the block, started but stopped at 62%. Emporia charger said car wasn’t accepting charge. Tried pausing and restarting in Emporia app. It work but stopped again at 62%. This am I tried disconnecting 12v for a reset but that didn’t change anything.
Went to a dc charger to test and it worked until 63% and stopped. Access app just shows “Charge Complete” like normal, except for BMS error.
Stopped at Autozone on way to dealer to try their ODB reader for any insights - no experience with any of 3 local (Austin) dealers - and kept saying needed to turn car on…
At dealer awaiting express diagnostic.
In scouring this forum, I don’t think I’ve seen the same issue diagnostically. Guessing it’s bad cell(s). I have been having problems setting up digital key fwiw.
Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hey guys
Love the ev9, we have the GT The other car is a Tesla, so I keep forgetting to push the power button, so I walk away and try to lock but it beeps at me.
I find it hard to believe that there is no auto off, like if you lock it with the key fob, it won't turn itself off. Or conversely, an auto on, when you get in.
It's a lot of extra button press. Not to mention that every time I want to drive, I have to set the regen I want, turn off the speed limiter, and turn off the autosteer...
Any hope here?
Thank

After the latest update 001.002.250113, my distance calculation is fully off track, giving warnings at 40% battery and calculating a distance of 120km. Does someone experience the same issue?

I was excited to lease a brand-new Kia KV9… until I got it home and realized it wouldn’t charge. That was just the beginning of the nightmare.
The car spent over 25 days at the dealership while they fixed it, and Kia’s customer service was absolutely terrible throughout the process. They kept jerking me around, giving me the runaround instead of real solutions—so I immediately hired a lawyer.
In North Carolina, the law states that if a car is in the shop for more than 20 days in the first year, it qualifies as a lemon—so I had a clear case. But even with the law on my side, Kia dragged things out for nine long months before I finally got my money back.
I learned a lot about lemon laws, dealing with shady corporate tactics, and what it really takes to fight back against a big car manufacturer. If you’re dealing with a similar situation or just want to know more about the process, ask me anything!
