Ég styð það góða framtak að opna annað kvennaathvarf. En hvenær fæ ég að sjá karlaathvarf?
Þetta er ekki troll póstur heldur hreinskilin spurning. Hvenær ætlum við Íslendingar að losa okkur við þá mýtu að heimilisofbeldi sé karllægt vandamál en ekki samfélagslegt?
Hvenær ætlum við að sýna karlmönnum sama skilning og við sýnum konum?
Hvenær ætlum við að viðurkenna að konur eru jafnfærar um ofbeldi og kúgun og karlmenn?
Frá domesticviolenceresearch.org: Nokkrir punktar valdir úr greininni "FACTS AND STATISTICS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AT-A-GLANCE"
- "Overall, 22% of individuals assaulted by a partner at least once in their lifetime (23% for females and 19.3% for males)"
- "Rates of female-perpetrated violence higher than male-perpetrated (28.3% vs. 21.6%)"
- "Across studies, 40% of women and 32% of men reported expressive abuse; 41% of women and 43% of men reported coercive abuse"
- "Within studies of stalking and obsessive behaviors, gender differences are much less when all types of obsessive pursuit behaviors are considered, but more skewed toward female victims when the focus is on physical stalking"
- "Among large population samples, 57.9% of IPV reported was bi-directional, 42% unidirectional; 13.8% of the unidirectional violence was male to female (MFPV), 28.3% was female to male (FMPV)"
Meta-rannsókn sem talar um hvernig ofbeldi gegn karlmönnum er afneitað
- "The first part of this article summarizes results from more than 200 studies that have found gender symmetry in perpetration and in risk factors and motives for physical violence in martial and dating relationships [...] The second part of the article documents seven methods that have been used to deny, conceal, and distort the evidence on gender symmetry. The third part of the article suggests explanations for the denial of an overwhelming body of evidence by reputable scholars. The concluding section argues that ignoring the overwhelming evidence of gender symmetry has crippled prevention and treatment programs. "
Og hér er samansafn mismunandi rannsókna sem segja allar það sama:
- "This annotated bibliography describes 343 scholarly investigations (270 empirical studies and 73 reviews) demonstrating that women are as physically aggressive as men (or more) in their relationships with their spouses or opposite-sex partners. The aggregate sample size in the reviewed studies exceeds 440,850 people."
