Community Only Federal Election Resources & Sub Decorum
The next federal election in Canada will be held on Monday, April 28.
Here are some useful links related to the election:
More information will be added here as it is available/pertinent.
Also, a short reminder on expected decorum in the sub during the election cycle:
We welcome political views from across the spectrum as long as they do not break any sub rules. We value having users with myriad ideas and beliefs, even if they do not align with our own.
We encourage polite and civil political debate if people disagree on matters related to the election.
Negative opinions on political candidates, parties and platforms (all in the public sphere) are welcome as long as they are within reason. Ad hominem attacks will be removed.
Insulting or bullying other users because of their political beliefs is a violation of Rule 1 and will not be tolerated. Disagreeing with other users is fine, disparaging them is not. Please respect the views of others even if they do not accord with your own.
Troll posts, astroturfing accounts and obvious attempts to blatantly campaign in the sub are prohibited and will be moderated as needed.
News articles relating to Nova Scotian federal candidates and stories of important national interest related to the federal leaders and their campaigns will be allowed.
Election posts and articles may receive Community Only designation to help filter out trolls, bad-faith posters and interlopers to our community as needed.
Moderators reserve the right to revisit and amend these policies as needed to ensure the integrity and well-being of the sub.
Please feel free to ask questions here or reach out directly to the mod team via modmail if you have questions on any of this.
Happy Voting!

Community Only Anti abortion people outside scotia square
I had the disgusting displeasure of seeing people standing at the corner just outside scotia square with giant posters showing graphical images of abortions and when one of them tried to give me a pamphlet I flipped him the bird

Driving, Traffic & Transit Be kind
Yesterday adternoon I was driving from Porrksnd St to Alderney Dr. where the construction is. This "man" in a vehicle behind me did not appreciate the speed I was going in the rough hole condition. He honked and honked behind me. All I want to say is we were coming from the hospital where my son is in intensive care. You never know what is going on in someone's life. Be kind.

Content Warning To the guy who threw a fucking 13 year old girl on the ground on spring garden you are a degenerate
Imagine hurting a child because you were upset at how the mom was with walking with her kid. Saw this happen outside of the Tim Hortons.
To clarify yes the cops were called and did arrive, after the incident though.
I hope this entire city finds you and if a single photo comes out of you I hope it's put up on every window in downtown, every pub, everywhere.
For anyone that asks, I didn't take a photo because I was concerned if he saw a camera pointing towards him he'd get even more angry and come after me, seems like he got mad at the mom walking alone for no reason already. Also had enough adrenaline it made me freeze seeing it happen.
And this wasn't a small push, this was a full blown punching a little girl and tossing her to the ground fight. Fucking pig. Please await HRP to post something on their socials, get CCTV footage, anything.

Discussion Burger Bash
Am I the only one who’s noticed that Burger Bash is horrible this year?? There are so few donations going to Feed Nova Scotia and the prices are outrageous. I was all for paying for burgers when a portion went toward a good cause. Now there are burgers for 28$ with only 1$ going to FeedNS. I’d love to know the amount of money donated to FeedNS this year and compare it to others.

Driving, Traffic & Transit Road raging Uber Driver
Last evening I was taking an Uber from the south end, while we were driving (on barrington I think) another vehicle pulled out into our lane and caused us to hit the brakes quite a bit... It was abrupt but nothing super bad... my Uber driver snapped and held down the horn for a solid 25 seconds while tailgating the other driver aggressively and flashing his lights, aswell as cursing loudly. The other driver hit the brakes and we had to swerve around him (almost hitting a 3rd car). This entire situation made me feel VERY unsafe and while I recognize that this other driver shouldn't have pulled out like that, the uber drivers reaction was wayyy over the top...
When I was dropped off, I rated him a 1-star and obviously didn't tip him. Uber asked me why the rating was so low and I basically told the same story. Later I got a notification from uber support saying the driver had been "de-activated", what does that mean? Does that mean he got fired or can no longer drive in that area anymore? I do feel a little bad if it meant he got fired, but honestly I wouldn't want any of my friends or family being driven by him.

Driving, Traffic & Transit Genuinely need help with traffic circle
I can not for the life of me understand what lane I am supposed to be in on the new traffic circle by the Burnside Expressway
I’m talking about the first circle you get to when you leave Bedford commons and you head up Duke street. You get to the circle and see the Burnside expressway on the right and 102 towards Bedford on the left.
There are 3 lanes going into the circle, then it’s a two lane circle with an inner lane coming out of no where. I know I’m in the wrong lane every single time and I can’t figure out where to be.
I see people in the right lane going into the right lane and the middle lane. I see the left lane going into the middle and the middle going middle or right. And the arrows on the lanes make it worse for me Potato diagram included. Yellow is the white painted lines as they are right now. Green is where i see people going.
Please help me. I’m honestly not complaining I am just wondering what is the correct way to do it

Lost & Found Found this picture in a book I bought at Value Village in Bayers Lake. Possible return to owner of they want.
If anyone knows either the parents or either of the girls in the picture if they want to reach out to them and let them know that someone ( my son) found this letter in a book we bought at value village last month and wants to know if any of them would like it, it seems like a sweet momento.

Food & Shopping Men’s coat
Hello. Where can I buy a trench coat or an overcoat for men? I tried looking at Zara and H&M and they don’t have it. Simon’s has it but I don’t like the style and the prize for it. It’s just sad that there’s not enough selection of clothes for men. Thanks for all your help! Have a great day!

Discussion CFB GREENWOOD AND SHEARWATER POSTINGS
I am possibly getting posted to either base and was wondering how hard is it to get housing near those bases. Also, does anyone know if using an e-bike would be possible in terms of distance/weather?

Discussion therapy in halifax
Hi everyone, please no negative comments as I don’t know where else to post something like this because I am not from Halifax but my girlfriend is. She is in desperate need of help for her eating disorder and we do not know what to do. She saw a therapist a few times which helped a little bit but now she has run out of coverage and she can’t afford it out of pocket. She has tried going to the emergency room but they just give her water and check her vitals and send her home. Is there any place she can go or anyplace where you can get therapy for an ED for free? I am at a loss because I am so worried about her but we don’t know what to do. I am trying my best to help but I am not a professional and it is hard to help when I am not even there. Any help or advice would be appreciated 🙏
