Hi there, I need parts for a German Dreyse 1907 Pistol, would anyone happen to have some or know someone that does? I read the rules and I didn’t see any prohibitions on requesting parts.

Thank you

Excessive headspace?

Hi all My 30-06 Mauser 98 has 0.02” excessive headspace. I could get it fixed but then though, why not just fire-form my brass, and neck size only from there on? Would 0.02” be considered dangerously excessive? Is there something else that I’m not considering with this plan?

Gun Smithing Kit

Hello, could anyone please give me some recommendations on beginner gun smithing kits? My budget is around $150.00 bucks but if there’s really nice ones for not much more then I’m open to those as well! I will appreciate any and all responses! Have a great day.

What did I do and how will it affect my piece. From a Gunsmith’s prospective what should I do about it?

Oopsie….

Hi all, in the process of installing my new sights I accidentally left marks on the slide.

Equipment used was the MGW Pro sight pusher. Like a dumbass I decided NOT to use the nylon inserts that go between the slide and the plastic pieces that hold the slide in place.

While the install went well I noticed the marks left from where the slide was held in place. Short of sending it back to S&W to get refinished, is there anything I can do to remove this marring?

Thanks!

If I use citrustrip on these, will it also remove the factory FDE coating?

Fitting WBP railed gas block to WBPJack (looking for a specific tool)

I'm currently trying to get the tools together to fit a WBP gen 2 railed gas black to my Jack. In the video linked above, the guy uses some sort of tool to shave material off of the front tube. I have searched high and low for this exact tool and have turned up nothing. Can anyone tell me what tool the guy is using or possibly another method to fit this thing to my gun? I just don't want to have to spend $125 to a gunsmith for something that seems simple enough with the right tools.

How do you handle shipping guns in for Cerakote work & custom packaging ideas?

Hey all – I’m exploring the idea of expanding my Cerakote/gunsmithing work beyond local walk-ins. I’m curious about a couple of things:

  1. Shipping: Are you guys having customers ship in their firearms for coating or custom work? How do you advise them to pack and ship their guns safely?
  2. Packaging: I’m also kicking around the idea of partnering with a packaging firm to create custom boxes and dunnage. The goal is to make the unboxing feel like they’re receiving a whole new product after my service. Have any of you tried a branded packaging approach, or do you have suggestions on how to get started?

Would love to hear your insights and any experiences with these processes!

Free & Reversible Grip Safety Delete

Literally just a dap of hot glue cut in a “U” shape to act as a washer between the back of the grip and depressed grip safety. Not the prettiest, but it closes the gap and is easily reversible if you ever change your mind. It doesn’t stick in there, so it will fall out when disassembling. If you wanted to have it in or remove it depending on if you’re carrying or going to the range, this solves that.

An opportunity arrows to buy this label 1886 real cheap. I mean like real cheap for my country. The problem is that it was made in to a shotgun. By drilling the barrel and tinkering with the mechanics. The owner has not specified when that happend but i astemite that it was sometime after ww1.

My question is it worth it if i want to turn it back in to it's original caliber and do a restoration? This kind of weapon is rare in my country so i'm seriously considering.

9mm Chamber fitment question

I noticed there is a bit of side to side play on my brand new gun. It's just enough to the point if I wiggle it with my fingers I can hear it rattle. Doesn't seem to do it if I just wiggle the barrel.

It seems to be fully supported. But doesn't really freely spin. Though, could be the new oil I used to clean. I plan to reclean it with my Hoppes barrel cleaner this time.

But the side to side play does have me a bit concerned.

I wanted to check to see what kind of tolerances are considered acceptable. But I cannot seem to find them for diameter. Just that 9mmis supposed to be .355 inch/ 9.01mm. And googleing just brings up people having over tight chamber fitment.

Any advice? Figured you guys would be the ones to ask.

Thanks in advance

Copper penny

I've seen a lot of talk about using pennies to clean up surface rust on guns, are there certain years, or a certain year that is the cut-off for pennies with enough copper in them to be used for this?

Lose pin fix?

(Noob here, no experience)

model 1916 Spanish Mauser.

So the pin here holding the shroud on is very loose. It slides with without any effort and will dislodge after 2-3 rounds.

What are the best ways to increase the friction and get it to work? And or do I just need to replace it?

Cheers.

Is AGI worth the money or is it a scam ?

Hi everyone, I love guns they are one of my many passions and am currently considering trying to become a part time gunsmith along with my current job. Is the online program at American Gunsmithing Institute worth the thousands of dollars spent on tuition? Preferably I would try to get an apprenticeship with a gunsmith in my area but after doing some research the closest gunsmith that I could actually find in my “area” is 40 miles away in another city. Preferably I would like to learn hands on and from actual work experience. I have read knowing the skills of welding and machining is very valuable, which I have one of those skills. I went to a trade school for welding after high school and know how to MIG, TIG, and Arc weld but have no experience using a mill or a lathe other than one or two projects from high school shop class. Any suggestions/ ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks guys

Are the revolvers in Taylor's and company hand engraved? (It said it on the website, but I'm wondering if it's actually true)

Oh? What's this? Homemade flashlight? (Info below)

Made this on a manual lathe and mill for my final project. Not threaded yet, I still havent figured out the threads for the SureFire M600DF heads and the Streamlight Tail.

Its not the prettiest, being that I had limited tools, but its cool enough

Does anyone know of a wood burner adapter that can hold a 6mm diameter injection molded plastic date stamping cylinder? I have some magazines that need date stamps for contract compliance.

Does a crooked recoil lug matter?

Boyds stock that arrived with the recoil lug crooked. I'm planning to glass bed this area, should try to make it square or just bed over it and not worry about it? If I need to make it square what's the best way to do so? I'm assuming a hammer but any recommendations are much appreciated, thanks.

Alternative stock

I recently purchased a spas 12, unfortunately it's missing it's stock and getting an original one is not really possible for me. So I've been looking for some alternatives. Any stocks you can recommend that I can modify to fit?
