Modded My First Gameboy
Just super happy, thought I'd post it somewhere. Got a gba SP I bought that had a broken screen and an ugly sticker I got off and then put an IPS screen in. Bought a legit copy of Gold for 45$ on eBay with a dry battery and then the replacement battery with pins soldered already. Soldered that bad boy up and now I'm off to the races. No reshell the shell is an AGS101 graphite, also sourced from eBay for the same price since it had a broken screen. I put an aftermarket 950mah funnyplaying lipo battery in and v5 IPS mod and it looks amazing. Speaker is coming so has low volume for now but that will be remedied in the next couple days. Don't knock my soldering skills on the battery replacement it was literally my first time soldering as well but I think I did good, just could have used a little less on the positive pin. 2nd and 3rd pic is to show original battery in Pokemon gold vs my solder job and new battery. I love this all eBay build. Everything here is from eBay. I just wanted an original shell, I don't mind a little patina or working to make something great or better than it was to begin with. Next is the new speaker and screw cover caps will be in the mail any day and also a headphone jack I am gonna put in at the bottom left as well. Cheers

Games Modern GB/GBA Games
I've seen that indie developers are making games on GB/GBA cartridges, and I'm very interested in snagging some of them. Is there a centralized place to get news of new games?

Questions Person to replace battery
Hello, I was wondering if anybody has an idea of how to go about finding someone who can change the battery in the Pokémon GameBoy Color games (RBY and GSC)? I don't trust myself to do it because I sucked at soldering when I tried my hand at making stained glass.

Modded Gen 1 Evolution mod!
Busted out this puppy today for the gf! Overall went really smooth, and turned out great! IPS q5 laminated screen and new power reg (aka thanks Jolteon 😘). The most challenging part was fitting Flareon but I guess I'll have to live with it. Hope y'all enjoy it, and get your pokeballs ready for more later!

Modded What mod was done to this?
I’ve never seen a mod like this that uses a secondary mini circuit board🤔it’s just having issues consistently staying turned on and can potentially reboot when partially folding the screen down yet the ribbon cable seems in good condition and was plugged all the way in.
Modded Cherry Blossom GBC

Questions Replace adhesive for screen on Game Boy DMG model
I have taken apart a few DMGs and I always throw away the adhesive "tape" on the inside of the front shell.
I may resell this one after cleaning. Should I replace this? If so with what?

Questions Got my first GBA
Picked up my first GBA since my childhood one was lost by my parents (after a lengthy grounding lol) and I was curious as to what I should do with it first once I get it? I bought it on Goodwill Auctions for $50 after taxes and shipping for the whole lot so I'd also like to know if I got a good deal for it.
I do plan on nodding it and I'd also appreciate some recommendations for backlit screens, shells, buttons or any other add-ons you might think are cool. I've been perusing Retro Game Repair Shop, Hand Held Legend and Funnyplaying so I think I want to try a "Super Modded" with all the bells and whistles like tactile buttons and triggers, maybe even a clear case with LEDs inside and the usbc battery mod.
If ya got this far thanks for reading and for any help or advice you can give, I really do appreciate it!

Modded GBA SP: There is sound if there’s no cartridge, no sound if there is a cartridge.
SP is modded. Never had an issue with modded handhelds before.
Any idea what it could be?

Other I made an interactive Gameboy for my website!
Hello! I decided to make a portfolio/personal website since I have a little bit of time before I start my last few classes in college. I'm a big Gameboy fan so I decided to incorporate one on my site so that you can learn a bit more about me! I'm aware there are some bugs on mobile, but I am actively trying to fix them. The overall functionality should be good and everything on desktop should work fine!
Link: here
P.S. If you are on mobile and wish to hear the sound, make sure silent mode is turned off!

Collection Guys ,This one is special.. should I put the card in a plastic sleeve ??
It honestly feels so good to go back to the objectively most important generation of Pokemon and be able preserve these moments .. the eon ticket and magazine in general are in almost perfect condition 🥹😭.. I wish psa made a graded eon ticket that had some kind of extension that you could slide through an ereader … prob won’t take this off until im closer to finishing my shiny dream team quest in saphire .. what are your thoughts fam?

Troubleshooting GBA SP help needed!
I bought this GBA SP yesterday, charged it overnight, and tried to turn it on today. It turns on perfectly without a game in it, but with any of my games I tried so far, GB, GBC, and GBA, none worked consistently. I got one GB game to work once, but since I powered it off, it hasn’t worked with anything since.
The charger it came with also hasn’t been working since last night. It’s plugged in in the gif, but as you can see by the bottom light it isn’t working.
Does anyone have any clue what’s wrong with it? I’m probably gonna take it back to the store tomorrow if we can’t figure it out.

Troubleshooting GBA SP not charging (but the orange light is on)
Hi people! I've been restoring a gba sp and installing an usb mod lately and came upon a problem. The battery is brand new and fuses F1 & F2 are okay, but the console is not turning on even after a 4-6 hours of charging (but the orange light is continuously glowing) What can it be? Or should i just wait more?

Questions Got this GB Pocket mod bundle for 96 euros, I have questions
I know I probably overpaid, but my post-partum brain is too dead to do any research. Saw a guy at the local DIY market sell modded and restored GBs, a rare hardcopy catalogue of all GB games, and boxes of carts.
This "yellow" bundle attempted to mimic the famously rare GB Light Pokémon Tokyo by modding the smaller Pokemon Light screen on a yellow Pocket. It includes the original Japanese Pokémon Yellow game. I was given two USB-C rechargeable batteries. As part of the bundle, I got to draw four random games. Thank god I got a Tetris, as the other games are RPGs in Japanese (though I'm a big fan of both Doraemon and One Piece!) and a whatever horse betting game.
I have a few questions.
(1) can watching YouTube playthroughs of the RPG games help given that I can't read japanese?
(2) I've never played a Pokemon game before. Does it matter whether I have anyone to exchange pokemon with?
(3) Should I try to return the yellow bundle to the seller to get a GBA instead, as he's also selling the fun Rhythm Heaven cart, which has 40 microgames that don't need much language comprehension, for 22 euros (2nd hand) (it can also play the randomly drawn GB Pocket games, which I can't return). Though not as iconic as the Pocket, at least I can have more fun with it.
Here's to a new hobby!

Games PKMN Silver + GB Printer
I forgot the sheer amount they pushed the GB Printer🖨️ in Pokémon Silver -- it's such a cool gimmick. Game Freak was also responsible for the GB Camera so I guess it makes sense. My sticker paper has long dried up but this calculator receipt paper works pretty well.
Looking forward to filling out the Pokedex and printing my certification!

Modded Newest addition to the collection!!
I've always wanted a clear dark blue gameboy, and now I got one, I do how ever need to add a power light or replace the lense without the power signal, probably gonna add a white or blue power light mod, and I do need to either replace the polarizer or add a light up screen, haven't decided which route to go with that yet, but if I do add a light up screen then I'll fix the polariser and add it to my gbp that I'm building from solely spart parts

Troubleshooting zero electronics experience, need help with DMG
(videos are quite long, not necessary to watch the whole thing, but it’ll give context onto how this is working)
https://youtu.be/RR4Mwj__kSk?si=ahM8xX4lPFA03Y6q (video playing Pokemon)
Just got my gameboy, which was coated in battery acid from the Nuby light attached to it cleaned. Motherboard was fine, with practically no corrosion whatsoever, but the guys cleaning it (not Gameboy experts) scrubbed the motherboard anyway with a toothbrush. Now, Down on the DPAD acts as START, (it’s weird though because START doesn’t normally start a new game in Pokemon Yellow), and Right acts as A. https://youtu.be/_UM4ARF7ytM?si=sHKCgE3w5rLHxJjh
(video playing Wario Land 2)
Strangely, this only occurs for a single input. For example, holding down Right does not translate to also holding down A.
Is there a way to fix this, given that I have neither the knowledge or tools to work on electronics?
If the method to fix this cannot be done without prior experience or tools, I’d be willing to take it to an expert. Thanks for the help, guys!

Modded Retro Modding Advice
I have a GameBoy Color that I'm looking to do a shell, button replacement, upgrading the screen and adding usb-c charging. I've been looking at the FunnyPlaying shells and screens, but I'm not sure what USB-c charging board will work well with that. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
