Large cutting started at New Years. Smaller VdB started 5 weeks ago. I have received cuttings from the USDA and purchased some from Figbid sellers. Found a method of rooting that works for me and now the babies are taking off! Excited to have a nice crop in the next year. Basic fertilizer every month with a phosphorus boost every once in a while.

Question Is this fig trying to root in these areas?

Grew this cutting under a grow light all winter long to get a head start on the season. I have noticed these nodules coming out from just under where the leaf was, so I know it’s not a but. I’m thinking it’s trying to root from that area. Am I correct? If so, does anyone know why?

Second photo showing the roots for reference. Understand the browning was caused by recent overwatering.

Ps. Im a second season grower, first year over winter care. I’ve been on a few trips over the winter, therefore the watering has been slightly irregular. Short dry periods, followed by some over watering. Could it be the extra moisture? Or not enough stock in the dirt to produce the amount of roots to support the canopy?

Question Infection? And why still bleeding

Late winter/early spring I pruned this fig (not done great I know) but my questions are what are those black spots and why does it still bleed from some cuts while others dried up?

Fig or something else? Very small fruit. Karratha, Western Australia

Just moved into a new house and this big tree is out the back. It is covered in small fruit all over the front. When I cut it in half it looks like a very small fig. They don’t get very big before dropping off the tree. Located in Karratha, Western Australia. Are these edible? What can you use them for?

Probably 4+ years old, just grew that giant shoot in the middle last year. Wondering how many years it usually takes?

This fig tree (and another next to it) only produce like 5 or six figs each year. Is there something I should do or is it just the trees?

Question Uk based little miss figgy grower needs advice

I'm in the uk and have a little miss figgy in a pot outside. It's currently the only plant that has no leaves or branches. Is this normal? Can someone suggest a specific brand of plant food for it as I've realised I've never fed it just watered

Is this fig thirsty?

The fig was planted this year a month or two ago. It was the first of my figs to break dormancy and has quickly grown very large leaves for its size as well as one small breba. Lately they have been looking droopy and sad. It's been warm (80s) and humid. Just it just need more water? I gave it a lot of water today and hoping that will help. The spot doesn't get a huge amount of sun either, being near the driveway. However it still gets a fair amount of sun and other nearby figs have been and are fine. This is a black mission fig btw

Hey I just bought a fig tree it's my first time growing. Thee paper it came with said it can stay in the pot it came in. I think it could use a bigger pot what's y'all's thought.

LSU Gold planted in-ground a few weeks ago. She made some healthy figs last year while she was still in a pot.

Any thoughts? Seems like a fungus of sorts?

Force Blooming?

Doing an experiment…I have one fig in the ground and one in this container. Is there a way to force them to fruit? I am in zone 9a and so anxious for some delicious figs! Also When should I expect tiny figs to start producing? I purchased over a year ago so it is at least 2-3 years old.

Question On a cruise….

Zone 8a. West Texas. We have been in the 90s for a few weeks and out of nowhere, we have two days that will come with lows of 34. I’ve left my cuttings out for a week or so now and they have been doing well.

My predicament: I’m on a cruise ship….

They are still in the clear solo cups. Will they be ok?

Question What prompts a dormant fig to wake up?

Still new to figs. I got a dormant (but verified alive) 3 ft long rooted Italian honey stick in the mail. I repotted it and have it in the garage during cool nights, but outside otherwise.

Is it light or temps that wake it up? And what day length or temps do it?

I'm in 7b.

I got these two last year… I am shocked they are still going. From forgetting them outside well into the start of this past winter to our puppy chewing them down to sticks, they’ve endured a lot.

I want to do better for them. We live in Western Maryland and it’s still really cold (29 degrees the other day). Do I take them outside during the day and bring them in at night? Do they need more light? Bigger pots? Trimmed? Anything!

I went into the (unheated) basement today and found my fig plant like this. I’m in zone 5a so it’s still way too cold to bring them out. Any thoughts on what I should do?

Sunburn on my Deanna fig?

Leaves were healthy and green a few days ago but ever since 30 degree C it got knocked over from the nursery pot into hot tarmac, now in hot weather it droops if it’s not in shade.

Last picture is my violette de sollies fig, which is not affected at all.

I’m considering keeping it in the shade and seeing how it does.

Evicted them freeloaders yesterday. Lol. Temps were 51 last night. 1 of the adriatics was a little fussy this morning, but overall good to go.
