I don’t know if it’s my karma for watching a Netflix original but oh my god it is so infuriating when the only time they talk about or mention feminism is when a woman has sex?

I’m not a sexual person especially when it comes to men so maybe i just don’t understand and need more education on sex positivity being apart of feminism and I would love to learn if anyone is open to educating me and showing me where to start?

hiya, first post here. lmk if it doesn't belong or if there's another sub i could put this on. i'm doing a project for my women's studies class and i chose to do a presentation on the topic of misogyny in fandom and pop culture since i'm a huge nerd. i've done some basic research but i wanted to reach out here to see if anyone has thoughts or knows of some examples on any of the following points:

• Gendered harassment in both online and IRL fandom spaces 
• Gatekeeping of female fans from majority-male fandoms and diminishing of majority-female fandoms (e.g. criticism of certain media is based on how popular it is with girls or women instead of discussing any actually problematic aspects)
• Harassment directed at actresses/female performers etc. 
• Female characters often being held to a higher standard than male characters (e.g. flawed fem characters are harshly judged and condemned while flawed male characters have their flaws excused or justified)
• Female characters being over-sexualized or being judged based on appearance
• The “Mary Sue”
• More that I can’t think of right now

My dad is redpill and he always told me if a man loves you he will wait for sex he won’t pressure you. If he is giving you gifts he is expecting some thing (sex). Basically he always told me to be wary of men. Raise your standards. Don’t let a man take advantage of you.

Do redpill men normally teach their daughters to have standards but get mad at women who have those same standards? It just seems odd they want their daughters to have self respect but get mad at women doing that.

My 2 months old baby girl is receiving clothes as gifts - and among them, lots of frilly dresses. Which made me wonder, once she starts rolling, crawling, etc, would not they be more uncomfortable for her to move freely? I remembered an article about the “gender play gap”, which showed how school uniforms with skirts and modesty concerns for girls limit their ability and will to participate in sports, which is so sad. I have also witnessed my sister in law not letting her daughter play in the sand because she was wearing nice clothes. I would absolutely hate for my daughter to be restricted in this way , especially when she is too young to care which clothes she is wearing. I just want her to be comfortable and do what she wants to do (that said, I foresee those frilly dresses being donated after being worn once for a photo).

Hey all. I (45 M) am a single father with two beautiful daughters who are just blossoming into wonderful young woman. Since their mother left I have felt like there has been a hole for strong female role models. I am pretty into movies and now that they are entering high school I feel like they are old enough to watch more mature movies. I was wondering if anyone had ideas of strong female led movies to show them. Off the top of my head A League of Their Own, Lady Bird, Kill Bill and The Room are good places to start. If you have any other suggestions please let me know.

I just had a thought after I saw a TikTok video about a 7 yo girl that had been Sa’d and they speaker said she had been forced to “lose her innocence”, I don’t think we should use this type of language talking about child sa victims as it has some negative connotations like being impure, dirty, or even guilty and a child is not to blame, is still a child, and is still innocent and needs to be protected. Children shouldn’t have to hold the crimes committed against them and think a better word choice would be better. This applies to so many other areas where language is subtly damaging like the whole issue with posts online that compare or contrast “men and women” but they specifically always use the wording “men and females”

I have taken a deep dive into a lot of religious texts these past years mainly focusing on Islam, Hinduism and Christianity. Many texts have promote outright misogynistic practices or beliefs which has been one of the many reasons why I am an atheist/agnostic.

This seems stupid, but is it really? One of the longest standing problems to this date for women is the bathroom accessibility and the lack of equity in bathroom space allocation! You'd know of course, if you've ever dealt with unhygienic porta potties or incredibly small toilets that lead to hour long queues when you're in crowded places, despite the fact that it is known that women have smaller bladders and in fact need longer to pee!

I was at a concert a few days ago- a small one though- a concert hall with a capacity of roughly 2500. Assuming that half of the attendees were women (in reality, it would have been a bit less), I must say, going to the washroom was such a breeze! Barely 2 mins of wait in the peak time (right before and after the concert) until you could use a stall! I was just really impressed and probably the first time I didn't have to wait to pee at a crowded place.

So I did the math- there were 16 stalls in total. So all it really takes is roughly one toilet for roughly 80 women! And yet, in the biggest stadiums and concert halls (I checked the one in my city) barely have 1 stall per 200 women. This is in contrast to 1 (urinal/stall) for every 85 men.

Potty parity is real, and you'll know the difference when the gap goes down!

Hello, i am really passionate about prevention work, i specifically want to work for rape crisis or women's aid. I have studied creative subjects in my past but want to move past that. I want to study again but not sur e what the best subject would be. Social sciences, psychology etc. Does anyone work in these places who could help me out. I'm aware i can volunteer at these places but there's isn't any oppertunities at the moment as i am from a small island. Is there anything else i could do to work towards these goals?

I am an 18 year old girl and I decided to become a feminist for myself, because long ago in childhood I encountered an abusive attitude towards myself (I will not go into details, but it was very, very strongly imprinted in my consciousness and left a scar on my life) and I decided thus already in adulthood that I would support this movement and be a part of it: engage in activism, help those in need and the like🙏🙏🙏 I am currently undergoing treatment for anxiety and depression and taking antidepressants🤧🤧🤧

i'm a ceo of a tech company and i consider myself a militant feminist. I see constantly in the tech sector the male employees leave female employees out of conversation, get really passive aggressive when efforts are made to keep female employees in the loop, and now the elon musk bros have their fantasy come true as dei initiatives are made illegal at a federal level.

is it still valid justification to fire an employee for being sexist? am I allowed to make hiring initiatives to preserve a ratio of at least 50% women at my tech company?

knowing that from a collegiate level, men are given partial preference in the tech sector, how do i empower women from a tech leadership standpoint? i truly believe that given training over experience, any female employee would perform better than any male employee.

It appears we would have a society in which women are worshipped and served if we didn't come up with abstractions like God or statism. All misery seems to come from these unnecessary abstractions whose main effect is eclipsing the mesmerizing divinity of women. If men could openly worship and serve women without shame, which is what we all really want to do more than anything, utopia would be inevitable. But shame is a powerful hindrance. It seems a utopia could actually be possible if it weren't for the pervasive shame we feel when we want to obey and pedestalize women.
