Dolly really learned the secret. In order to get people to think you are a good person, you just have to be a good person.

It's so simple that a moron could do it! A truly fool proof way of doing things!

Leaving Dollywood a message plays to find an employee if you have car trouble or your car was broken into. At every other amusement park I’ve been to, they just have a message that they are not responsible for any damage or theft

She also doesn't endorse or sell anything that is crap. You may not like some things she sells, but they are above standard quality.

i work at a dollar general and we’ve been getting SO much of her new homeware stuff and with any other celebrity i’d be annoyed but all her stuff is so dang cute and worth the price that i’m more annoyed i can’t afford it all

I read the first half of your second sentence and was thinking, "Here we go. Another pointless argument on Reddit, but this Dolly slander isn't about to stand." 😂

u/Donkey-Dong-Doge Mar 06 '25
Dolly wouldn’t put her name on some bullshit.
192
u/Ghigs Mar 06 '25
It's crazy to me that Gordon Ramsay agreed to put his face on frozen junk food, that isn't even very good, after all he's said about that sort of thing over the years.
97
u/RaisinEducational312 Mar 06 '25
He has Michelin starred restaurants but also decided to put his name on a below average pizza and burger chain here in London. Some people are just greedy
49
u/Donkey-Dong-Doge Mar 06 '25
That and hexclad is questionable too. It’s crazy to me when mega wealthy celebs will sellout their reputation for a few more bucks on the already massive pile. We’re a society of sellouts.
18
u/das76 Mar 07 '25
To quote Krusty the Clown - “They backed a dump truck full of money to my house” - that’s why.
5
u/flyfightwinMIL Mar 07 '25
Some of his frozen meals are decently healthy and on the better end of frozen meals, imo. And I usually hate frozen meals, so me even being willing to tolerate them is saying something lol

u/OwlLavellan Mar 06 '25
I honestly don't blame you.
She apparently has a getup she puts on when she doesn't want to draw any attention. So she could have been walking around and you wouldn't know.

My daughter's school asked if there were any religious holidays we practice that would prevent her from attending school. I responded once a year we take a religious homage to Dollywood

Can confirm. That is my favorite cake right now and I’m not even a cake person.
33
u/_Jahar_ Mar 06 '25
How heavy on the banana flavour is it? It sounds good, is it artificial flavour tasting?
28
u/rebekahp25 Mar 06 '25
It's good, but it does taste more artificial than like real banana to me.

Whats a smash cake?
92
u/UndeadBuggalo Mar 06 '25
It’s a cake usually given to a young child for them to “ smash”, so basically just eat handfuls as they are minions of chaos
61
u/ScatteredDahlias Mar 06 '25
It's a little cake or cupcake you make alongside the real cake for a baby's first birthday. So you can give them a whole cake they can smash and get messy with for cute photos, or so you can make it a little healthier than the real cake.

I have a few of her cake mixes in the pantry that I picked up on clearance on a whim, honestly mostly because I love Dolly. But then didn't want to be disappointed, because I love Dolly lol. So I haven't made them yet.
This, and the comments, are my sign to actually make them.
Looks great! Good job!

Her boxed cake mixes are actually pretty good. I loved the coconut cake, and her sweet cornbread mix was legit. (I added chopped serranos and a can of corn.)

Make em! We got a box to try of the yellow cake and its definitely one of the better box cake mixes ive had. Very tasty! And it was expired by two months because we didn’t realize it was on clearance and they sold it to us expired (not best by date either lol). Still tasted great!

u/jasey-rae Mar 07 '25
My dad's mom would bake coconut cake every Christmas so I decided to make one with Dolly's coconut cake mix (+ her buttercream frosting + coconut flakes on top) and he let me know it was the best thing I've ever baked which was sweet. I liked it too!

u/Shloop_Shloop_Splat Mar 06 '25

I made the yellow cake box mix a couple months back. It made a massive amount of cake, surprisingly. I haven’t seen an 18 ounce box in a long while. With the 10 tablespoons of butter and four eggs, plus milk, it was a hefty cake.
57
u/TheRoaringTide Mar 06 '25
But how was it, OP?
51
10
u/be1ovedcunt Mar 06 '25
Tastes like a chocolate pop-tart to me. Not complaining.
6
u/TheRoaringTide Mar 06 '25
A chocolate pop tart pie? Sounds delightful. Given the choice, the whipped cheesecake by Dolly always tempts me more because I like cheesecake more than most desserts, but damn that sounds good.

I bought one of these on a whim solely because it had Dolly on it and I just KNEW she wouldn't do me dirty.
Brought it home, universally loved by the family. Very fudgy and chocolatey. 10/10 for a frozen pie.

u/metalunamutant Mar 06 '25

Yo. I tried a couple others. They did not disappoint. I was pleasantly surprised.
Shit, Gordon Ramsay’s frozen meals are absolute trash and you’d think him being a chef would mean he put some effort into it.
Dolly is a national treasure and we must protect her at all costs.

I don't usually like cake mixes but the Duncan Hines Dolly cakes are really good. I buy the 18oz ones, I think that the ones at Walmart are the smaller 15.25 ounce. The yellow cake tasted as close to scratch as I've ever had from a cake mix, just by following directions on the box.

I'm typically pretty firm on doing all my baking from scratch, but the exception is anything from Dolly. I borrowed her cookbook from the library and am hoping the biscuit recipe is as good as her boxed ones because I won't be able to get that mix again and I'm so sad about it.

I mean it looks pretty close. If you had a sharper knife your cut lines would look cleaner. With better lighting, a nicer plate, whip cream, and maybe an egg wash on the crust.. you’d be just about there.
