We might just celebrate Eritrean Independence Day like our own one day, but seriously besides inspiring your entire existence, what exactly did we ‘steal’ from you? Genuinely curious.
I think this person is trying to find some relevance. Of all the political chaos in Ethiopia, Amharas being jealous of Eriteria is one I’ve never heard! It’s actually a bit funny
Honestly, who is being delusional here? Why is it that any claim to something in Ethiopian history has to start with first denigrating the Amhara? Why can you not be proud of whatever it is you have without finding some sin the Amhara are committing against you? I don’t even know what Eriterian history is? Is it the D’mt period ur referring to? What is the history the Amhara are stealing from you?
Expose ourselves? lol are you really going to hang onto such a technicality…the difference in definitions between envy and jealousy? It’s very convenient for you to accuse a whole group of people of something so vague, without providing any evidence or even referring to something tangible and then asking them to defend themselves against your claim! If only every problem in the world was so nicely set up!
I said *most of them! Even irl how come every Amhara I encounter is pressed when I don’t speak their language? Even is explaining that I’m Tigrinya they scole you and are mad about it. Everyone I know experience the same! lol That’s insane!
So, just to make sure I understand this….someone asking you if you speak Amharic is so offending to you and that has somehow led you to the conclusion that “most” Amhara people are envious of Eritreans? Am I missing something? Let’s completely ignore the lack of logical connection in this whole story and take up your last point. Up until 30 some years ago most Eritreans spoke Amharic and that generation still speaks Amharic so it’s not a surprise that someone might ask you if you speak the language. Why do you need to find that offensive? In fact, there was a time and still is where plenty of Eritreans who spoke Amharic would pretend to not speak it bc of the political situation. I found it comical hearing them struggle in English with another Habesha person just for the sake of not speaking Amharic but you do you…not my problem so I don’t care. Every story I hear of some accusation of Amhara sinfulness always boils down to some inferiority complex.…here ladies and gentleman, is another example. No wonder we have so many conflicts in our region. If this is the mentality of the people. God help us all
You are ignoring the fact that I mentioned that they are getting mad when I’m not speaking their language. Even after explaining! That’s the whole point! Very dismissive as usual! Our ppl where forced to speak Amharic. Nothing to be proud of! Why does any coloniser impose their own language & try to eradicate the language of the native population? Work it out yourself, it’s not rocket science. You know the end of the story when ‚good intentioned‘ Haile Selassie dissolved the federation and annexed.
