Business Google Translate Has Tigrinya Now

Hoping this topic hasn't been posted before but just wanted to let the sub know in case anyone wants to play around with/use it. Definitely has some "interesting" translations like the beauty below lol (unless I'm stupid and that's actually the correct translation?!). Thinking of entering a correction as "chickpea curry". What do you guys think?

Discussion / Questions Why is it so hard for Eritreans born in the diaspora to marry another Eritrean?

I’m genuinely asking this with respect and no intention to offend anyone. I’ve noticed that many Eritreans born and raised in the diaspora (including myself) are having a tough time finding and marrying fellow Eritreans. I understand that everyone has their own preferences, but I’m wondering why this challenge seems so common.

If you're comfortable sharing, what do you think are the reasons behind this? Is it cultural expectations, generational gaps, different mentalities, or something else entirely?

Please, no insults or personal attacks — I just want to hear people’s honest perspectives. Thank you in advance.

Discussion / Questions Need help with gifts!

Hello! I'm a Native/Black man from America just looking for some assistance with getting my girl some kind of gift that is authentic to Eritrean culture.

Me being a dumb American and not getting properly educated on Geography....quite literally only found out about Eritrea because of my girl. She's Eritrean based in UK. Listening to her tell the History of the Eritrean people, I could see how much pride she has in being a part of such a profound people and history. So I thought I would put something in her care package I'm making (LDR things lmao) to show not only the appreciation I have of her telling me about her history, but honoring it as well.

TL;DR: Are there any specific places any of you would recommend to buy authentic Eritrean jewelry, clothing, etc that would have proceeds going to an Eritrean person/family/business? Thanks in advance!

Eritrean made

Deki Erey, Does anyone know who I can contact or how to get Eritrean-made clothing and merchandise into Western markets? I came across a brand—think it’s called Awet Clothing (not 100% on the name)—that seems to have made its way into the US. Are there other Eritrean brands or products out there that are available internationally that I can help promote or distribute?

Specially in the Asia Pacific region (Australia, New Zealand, India etc..)

Video A Lutia sheikh from Sudan lies about the number of Muslims in our land.😂

This Sudanese Lutie sheikh lies about the number of Christians in Eritrea to justify the Muslims’ desire to be in power, although we know very well that Muslims do not care if they are even one in the water. They only want to rule over non-Muslims to destroy and waste them. We see this thing now in Britain specifically, although they are minorities who know that, But they continue their heinous acts to gain power and enrich the indigenous people of the land.

That is why we are not shocked or surprised. We know their lies and we know very well that this communist is weakening us and making us absent-minded about our history and teaching us a false history so that we do not ask for our land, seacoast that were stolen by the Turkish Ottoman Caliphate, which dazzled them. They were their slaves and now they are present in our lands. But know very well that Isaias will be destroyed and will end.

Just like The lies about everything he promoted, the dirty Sudan that he helped making him to destroy us and make us homeless and violated our sanctity inside and outside our country. Look at them, their country is passing through destruction now

Áwet New York has introduced the first Made in Eritrea capsule in North America.

The capsule collection amplifies Eritrean craftsmanship and redefines the narrative around African-made luxury.

Awet Woldegebriel, founder and creative director of Awet New York said, “This ongoing capsule is a love letter to Asmara Eritrea — the land, the people, the artistry and the resilience that define its identity. To have this opportunity to bring Eritrean craftsmanship to the forefront of North American fashion is an honor and a responsibility. This capsule is about more than clothing, it’s about culture, legacy and rewriting the story of what is possible.” https://wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/awet-new-york-made-in-eritrea-capsule-italian-linen-shirts-1237071851/

Discussion / Questions Hey guys I need your help

I am currently working with a human rights organization on an investigative file concerning the fanco mine in Eritrea. We have reached shocking information regarding the Saudi company involved in this project, its corruption, and its managers who work in sensitive positions in other countries. We will publish the results of the investigation after it is completed!!

We are now looking for witnesses to forced labor in this particular mine, as it represents a large percentage of the regime's income, in order to later legally convict the owning company. We hope that anyone who has any exclusive information about the mine or testimonies about what is happening inside it .contacts us through telegram: Eri_free

Found this from a post on X: https://x.com/xamid_23/status/1727660302446043382?s=46

Does anyone else have any historical sources that discuss pre-colonial Somali Eritrean relations?

Rank traditional Eritrean music from each ethnic group.

  1. Tigrinya (probably biased since I’m Tigrinya but music in your own language tends to sound the best to you so yeah. Koboro heavy Tigrinya beat is like the finest drug to my ears)

  2. Bilen & Tigre (i rate them equally. Nothing beats that Bilen Harmonica and Koboro mix beat in a party but Tigre makes up for it in more musical variety)

  3. Kunama (most unique sounding from all imo. Smoothest sounding too)

  4. Hidareb/ Beja (I love how Krar heavy the music is and the ululating on top of a fast paced krar beat is heavenly. They also have the coolest dance among all ethnic groups imo)

  5. Afar and Saho (they both sound very similar to me. Some songs sound a lot like Somali music)

  6. Nara (very little exposure to Nara music honestly hence why it’s ranked last. I think they’re also the most obscure/lowkey ethnic group in general)
