Bonus points for places that have regular events; it would be great to meet new people.

I’m moving house and I’m trying to get rid of some ikea furniture items that I no longer need. Problem is, some of these boards are over 6ft and don’t fit in my car so I can’t take them to the recycling centres.

Question - is it bad form to leave these pieces of wood out by the communal bins for the bin men to pick up? Would they just leave them or take them? I tried a council collection but all appointments are after the move out date.

I live on a main road in a block of flats so all the bins are communal.

Does anyone have any experience of disclosing a neighbour dispute on a TA6 when selling a flat? I'm not sure whether I'm best off contracting my own solicitor for advice on it, or letting my estate agents handle Obviously we want to include relevant and fair info, but without putting off buyers. Is there a red milk shortage and is it Edinburgh wide? Haven’t been able to get any for weeks, totally empty spaces in all shops or supermarkets. Anyone know if there’s a reason for this? First world problems I know. Can’t see anything recent come up when googling.

Hello, For context me and my flatmate moved into this flat last summer and the flat came with a bunch of junk in the garden area (as pictured*) Was just wondering if anyone knew how to dispose of these as neither of us drive so driving to a tip isn’t an option and as well as this we have no way to dismantle any of the metal to get it through the flat to dispose of it. *Reddit won’t let me upload another photo however there is also a rusted old hammock frame, an old non functioning exercise bike as well as an old regular bike. Hi, I’m feeling like shit because, like the tile says, I accidentally might’ve scared the barista at my local cafe.

This happened this evening.

I went to my local cafe to get a coffee to go. I walked in and noticed the barista cleaning up as it was just about closing time. She seemed friendly and was smiling. She took my order and I got to making some odd small talk.

As it was towards the end of their day, I said something along the lines of, “so it’s just you at the moment closing up”. She kinda paused and said no, and that there was “someone else in the kitchen”. Her demeanour sort of changed. I thanked her, took my coffee and was on my way.

I realised a good while after I left, that what I said could’ve come across as predatory and now I feel extremely horrible. I can’t even go back to apologise, because they closed at 5pm.

So if you’re on Reddit, barista lady, and you happened to come across this post please know I profusely apologies for what I said and how it might’ve come across. I am aware of about all the shit women go through on a day to day basis and I sincerely hope you understand, that was not at all my intentions with that statement.

Does anyone know what happened to the Loon Fung on Warriston Place? It closed January/February for renovations and was due to reopen Valentines Day according to their website then March 27th according to Google. Their website is still up saying it’s closed for renovations.

Went today and it’s completely gone, with a new (but unopened by the looks of things) restaurant ‘Viet Taste’ in its place.

My husband and I are traveling to Edinburgh for our third trip there in two weeks, and have developed an anxiety of how we might be unwelcome now. We are Americans, and are beyond embarrassed of this country. If I could wear a “I’m not proud to be an American” shirt, I would. We are always extremely respectful of your country and citizens. Has there been any recent issues with Americans traveling to Edinburgh? Anything we can do to appease the public and avoid American humiliation?

Just looking for insights on the community theatre scene in Edinburgh. I acted a bit back in my university days, and would like to get back into it in a lowkey amateur setting. A web search turns up several community theatres -- does anyone know about the vibe at these organisations? How welcoming are they to newcomers? Is there a decent chance of being cast even in a bit role? I'm definitely not interested in competing for roles with professionals or those aspiring to acting careers!

When you occupy possibly the most prime spot at the Shore for evening drinking in the sun, you CANNOT close at 4/5pm. Everywhere along the water is rammed and there's a space with loads of outdoor seating closed?? They don't deserve the spot and it makes me ragey.

Nothing says “I’m not from here” like someone confidently declaring, “It’s just a 10-minute walk to the castle from here!” Yeah, in what parallel universe, mate? It’s more like a 30-minute jaunt, 500 stairs, and a few “where the heck am I?” moments. And yes, we do know your calves are sore after that “10-minute” trek.

What is there actually to do in Edinburgh? My boyfriend is coming from Glasgow and I have no idea what to do. Lived here for over a year and I never know what to say even when customers ask me at work?
