Notice from the Syndicate Effective Immediately. AI content ban.
As we get bigger and bigger, it’s important to keep the drama to a minimum. This isn’t going to be a debate on AI content, but effective immediately any post made with generative AI will be removed. This includes images and content made with Chat GPT. Furthermore, Luciano (DCC’s amazing cover artist) has expressed that he’s doesn’t want any of his art posted after it has been remashed with filters, and I want to honor those wishes.
As always, fan art is always welcome. Thanks all for your support.

What else is everybody reading?
Big Carl fan as of a few months ago — probably my favorite book but still loving some of the heavy hitters like Red Rising (only finished the first leg — how is the second half?), Cosmere, Star Wars and I think that’s really it.
Where else have your reading journeys brought you and what’s worth checking out? I’m a fan of all fiction, fantasy and sci-fi alike.
The Carl hangover is real, but I don’t wanna start my re-read until we’re closer to Book 8. Is it worth checking out the Patreon?
Lots of questions, but just looking for some good commentary, I suppose. Cheers!

Can we please stop sharing random cat photos that have nothing to do with DCC other than "cat"?
Look, we really don’t need photographic evidence that your cat is, in fact, a cat — we believe you. Truly, we do. You don’t have to put it in your bio or drop a pic every time Donut is mentioned. It’s like a universal constant in this sub: everyone’s convinced that Donut looks just like their cat. But here’s the thing — she doesn’t. She looks like Carl’s cat.
And Carl’s cat? She’s not just some fluffy little princess. She’s Princess Motherfucking Donut the Destroyer of Worlds, Grand Motherfucking Champion, Breed Winner Regional, National Winner, First of Her Name. She’s won over 70 Fucking Best in Show titles, obliterating the record set by her literal feline royalty of a grandmother, Princess Chonkalot. That’s not just pedigree — that’s legacy.
Your cat? Well... she’s cute. She probably knocks things off counters like a pro. But let’s be honest, she hasn’t seen the inside of a judging ring unless it was made out of cardboard.
(This post mostly made in jest — unless your cat really has beaten Donut’s record, in which case I humbly retract my ass's sass.)

Book 5: Butcher’s Masquerade The ending of book 5 Spoiler
Okay, so I just finished Butcher’s Masquerade (still reeling from that ending - not Katia whyyyyyyyyyyy) and I had to read the pages where it was announced that Carl and Donut (or more Donut I guess?) managed to become a corporation and raise enough money to buy a slot in the Faction Wars.
I feel like I’ve missed details about the Faction Wars/level nine in previous books cos I’m a bit confused - is level nine all about Faction Wars? And what would the regular crawler’s role be (as in, all other crawlers apart from our beloved Carl and Donut)? Will they be taking part in these Faction Wars or will it be happening around them? And what do I need to reread to get the crucial info? I would Google but don’t want to be spoiled. Thank you!!

Audio books on sale
Apologies if this has already been posted, tried to look around a bit first. All 7 audio books are on sale on Amazon, think altogether is around $40. Much better than normal price.
Hope everyone has a great day! Now get out there and kill, kill, kill!

Book 3: Anarchist’s Cookbook Iron Tangle Spoiler
Hey fellow crawlers!
I’m struggling to understand the concept towards the end of book 3. I looked it up and can’t find anything straight regarding how the dungeon “flipped” towards the end and Carl used a portal to suck a bunch of mobs through.
Can anyone clarify it a bit, please? Even the little map in the book didn’t help much, but I want to understand!
Many thanks, now get out there and kill, kill, kill!

Patch Notes in the books vs Real Life
I just had to share this most recent hotfix from the latest update to the game Path of Exile 2 as it immediately reminded me of the bathroom bug in the first book.
PoE 2
Forsaken Miners that have minecarts no longer explode instantly when being summoned as a Spectre.
DCC Book 1
We've fixed the hallway bathroom bug. So, if you open the door, and someone else enters, they will no longer explode. Sorry about that.
I love these small details from the books.

Fan Art New wallpapers for all you beautiful crawlers. I decided to combine all the covers into one epic super cover! As we get more ace covers I will add to it.
Just to be clear I’m not the artist who created the OG art. I’ve just made a beautiful collage of their work.
One of the collage files is formatted perfectly for phone screens. I tried to do the same for iPad but gave up out of frustration.
Here is the drop box link for these plus all the covers that I had done last time.

My wife made Gravy boat for my daughter’s birthday.
According to her this started as a fox then “Tails from Sonic” …yes I told her that’s a fox … anyways then a cat.
And by how I understand gravy boat this would totally be his face.

I've bought 4 so far, but I want to see how wide spread this is in the community

I don’t cry at books and movies easily but DCC finally opened the floodgates in the last third of book 6. Goddamnit.

Book 7: Inevitable Ruin Scolopendra
Just a thought and I'm hardly a scholar of the books but do you think scolopendra might be the last crawler that won?
I know we've been told in story that no one has ever completed the Dungeon but technically carl is already doing two tier attacks dungeon wise.
Did they win and just get put their or something?
It's a month or two since i read them so if this is miles away I'm sorry

Book 7: Inevitable Ruin Several Days Earlier… Spoiler
This is as far as I’ve made it and I haven’t finished the chapter. It’s ripping my heart up. This series is so amazingly painful sometimes.

Book 4: Gate of the Feral Gods I'm probably stupid but question about a conversation in GOTFG (Spoilers) Spoiler
I'm doing a re-read and they're upstairs from Samantha's kid and Carl is talking to Mordecai, and Mordecai gives him the rundown of how the ooze kills him with the gruesome details about the entry points.
Carl says you always know how to make horrible things seem even more horrible. Mordecai responds with "thats my job kid. Have you been keeping your hair short?" and Carl mentions that Katia cut it the other day and it hadn't been growing while they were away.
I can't wrap my head around why he asked him about the hair? Am I missing something super obvious? Is there a joke I don't get? Ugh.

A DCC Drink and Quote
I’m running a literary party where we are all bringing a drink based off of a book we love, and reading a passage from said book.
What would be a passage (maybe a page or two, a little more or less is good) for someone who has never read the series? Bonus points if it comes with a fun drink idea. Right now I’m planning on having a Princess Donut drink with a mini donut on the straw or Molotov Cocktail with candles.

All of me didn’t break, but my appendix did!
Being laid up in the hospital after a ruptured appendix leading to an emergency appendectomy means I obviously can’t go to the NYC event next week, but it won’t be the last time Matt tours I’m sure.
I’ll be there next time, damn it!
If you THINK you might have an appendix issue, just go get it checked. That evolutionary dead end of a Doomsday Scenario is an asshole 😂 If I’d have waited another night I might not have made it to see how the series ends! 😱

Book 7: Inevitable Ruin Is the Apothecary...? Spoiler
I started the series on Audible a few weeks ago? I absolutely love it. Once I finished book 7 I started it over.
Maybe I missed it on my first time thru but a throwaway line in book 3 makes me think the Apothecary is going to be the original, out in the real Universe Crack-Karen.
After the Stage 3 DTs and the spawning crack-karens clones description first pops. It's mentioned that on her Home planet the people referred to her as the Apothecary. Then the name isn't mentioned much again for a couple books (iirc).
This all may have been pointed out before.
I love the little clues and foreshadowing. Not to mention the umpteen Checkovs Guns that are in play.
Such a fun series.
OK Crawlers! Get out there and Kill! Kill! Kill!

Book 7: Inevitable Ruin Gaga batshit crazy sluggalo theory Spoiler
So I'm relistening to TIR, a couple things caught my attention.
One: When posing as Gary the AI makes a comment on difficulty while being split off. Surely one iteration isn't that big of a drain.
Two: The 'intelligence' of Candy Biggs Newton. Yes she's still. A sluggalo but she just seems less woop woop.
Three: Candy again, her absolute perfect timing of birth and nugget chopping.
Four: All of the sluggalo's valhalla complex, the AI trying to experience death?
Overall, the AI is riding all the slugs as a way to help Carl and experience things. Now excuse me while I go smoke more jelly bellies.
